Chapter Five: When We Became More Than Friends

...Overtime, my friendly relationship with Xavier had grown stronger....

...I loved that I was able to know everything about him — same way with me....

...Though there are some feelings in my heart which I can't ignore much longer....

...I like how we are now, yet being lovers is what I can in-vision us to be....

...----------------...

...Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I were to confess to Xavier....

...Would he feel the same way? Or get uncomfortable and reject me?...

...Ultimately, I can prepare myself for rejection but handling heartbreak is something I can't make work in my favor....

...No matter if we're friends or not, whether we expect it or not — one of us or both of us will eventually have feelings for the other — it's common but ordinary....

...----------------...

...What if I'm not his type? What if I'm actually just stuck in the friend-zone?...

...What happens if he sees me as only just his friend?...

...What if he has feelings for someone else? What if my feelings causes our friendship to be done?...

...What if he ends up resenting me because I couldn't hide my feelings? — at least, you know, pretend?...

...----------------...

...Over-thinking this will only make it worse....

...But I know Xavier felt the same spark I did, right?...

...Loving him this much nearly makes it feel like a curse....

...Yet, despite the rejection that could happen, I know he'll obviously continue to make me smile so bright....

...----------------...

...The wind hits my window as I lay on my bed....

...There's a knock on my bedroom door, but without saying anything, the person outside my door entered my room....

...I let out a sigh, "I should've known it was Xavier." I thought, finally remembering what he said....

...The day before, he called my phone, telling me that he would come over to my house because he left his jacket here....

...----------------...

...Xavier left my room — then my house....

...I felt bothered by the rushed encounter, deciding to go to the park....

...I exit my own room — then my own house....

...So, I begin to stroll along the sidewalk...

...----------------...

I had wondered why he was in such a hurry, "Was it personal?" I thought hard.

...I was nearing the park, and once I arrived, I made my way to the garden....

...I lied down on the grass, my eyes glued to clear-cloudy sky — admiration a feeling I couldn't disregard....

...I struggled to figure out the reason why I was irritated by the rush Xavier was in — almost acting like a burden....

...----------------...

...I lay there, staring at the sky, "Xavier would've loved this." I thought, if he were here....

...Time passes, I don't get up to see how late it's gotten....

...I take in nature's scent — sweet, holding an embrace dear....

...I hear the grass crushing under someone's shoes. This person lays next to me, "I knew I'd find you at the garden."...

...----------------...

..."The sky looks lovely." said Xavier, admiring the mie scattering sky....

...Our fingers touch a little as we stare at the range of different colors — the clouds fairly hidden....

..."Why were you in a hurry earlier?" I asked, Xavier chuckled softly, "I had a check-up to get to — l remembered I left my jacket at your place, so I had to get it quickly."...

..."Oh," I responded, "I hope your check-up went well." Xavier only smiled, "Yeah, it was okay." he said, a hint of sorrow in his eyes....

...----------------...

...After a few minutes, I thought, "I should confess, now." I sat up and looked down to see Xavier, him looking up to see me....

...We smile at each other and Xavier sits up, too. We're in the same position again: looking into each other's eyes, neither one of us breaking contact....

...I take a deep breath and tell him, "I have feelings for you." I immediately expect to be rejected but then I hear, "I have feelings for you, too." his colorful eyes twinkle softly....

...Our hands touch, then our fingers intertwine, as we both blush and smile. Xavier looks deep into my eyes, and I deep into his. His face is inches away from mine and it seems like we're about to kiss, but before our lips could so as brush together — 'ring ring ' goes his phone ruining the moment....

...----------------...

...Xavier sighs as he checks to see who's calling, "My mom's calling," he tells me, "I have to go home." "Bye," I tell him, "Get home safely."...

...He smiles at me and gives me a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving, the sun highlighting his hair and clothes as he walks away into the distance....

...I make my way home, my cheeks crimson-red as I smile sheepishly. "He kissed me on the cheek!" I squealed, thinking about what would become of us — what we could both be....

...I dazzle on into my bedroom, twirling around. It felt magical, how we held hands and looked into each other's eyes, we nearly kissed but I'm grateful his phone had caused an interference....

...----------------...

...I smiled as looked out the window, the sun was setting, ending my beautiful day....

...I went to lay on my bed, my heart racing as I touch the cheek Xavier kissed, I blush — my mind and heart coming to amends....

...The feel of Xavier's soft lips on my cheek gave me butterflies, his scent was calming and sweet, making me fall in love more in a way....

...I gazed at my ceiling, knowing the next time we meet we wouldn't be friends, because today was when we became more than friends....
