Chapter 2: Love is a luxury that I can't afford.

Anna's POV:

I went to the Cafe and found a man wearing a light suit sitting near at the corner. He was good looking but not at the point that I'd drool. He seemed to be a playboy.

"Mr. Brendan Peterson?", I asked as I stood in front of him. "Miss. Anna Jane?" I gave a slight nod and sat on the chair opposite to him. I took off my gloves and ordered myself a cappuccino.

"What's your age?", I asked in a stern tone. "28. About you?", he asked. "I'm 24."

He looked at me up and down then voiced out. "You look a lady from upper class. I'm the second son of Peterson family as you might know." I gave a cold laughter.

"See, I'm not looking for some love marriage or something. It's already arranged by our families so I don't want to put any pressure on you. I currently have some girlfriends and also have one night stands. I'm sure you're also not so pure so let's get to the point."

I gave a cold smile and said, "Do not worry, Mr. Peterson. The moment I entered this Cafe and saw you, I never thought of dating you at first place. You're not my type. I don't like people who live on the support of their family wealth and don't respect women."

His face darkened but I just ignored it. The waiter served us our orders. I sipped on my cappuccino and stared at him. "So, here.You, Brendan Peterson is not my, Anna Jane's type. I kindly reject you", I said and stood up from my chair.

I put on my gloves and took out a hundred dollar note then put it on the table. "Your compensation will be sent to you. How much is your compensation fees?", I asked but he didn't say anything and kept staring at me.

"How about a Villa in Ruston Regency?", I asked with a raised brow. Ruston Regency is the second largest and second most expensive real estate area in New York while my mansion is in Imperial Villas, the largest and most expensive real estate area. It has 20 most expensive Houses in the country. All the big business tycoons live in Imperials. My mansion was rebuilt by me especially as I wanted it to be."Or you want it one in Imperials? Well, I don't see that you're that deserving to live in Imperials. So, I think Ruston is good for you. Or you want a car as well?", I asked. "You! You're insulting me", he blurted out.

I raised my brows. "I never insulted you. Instead I'm compensating you and giving you some more respect, Mr Peterson. You're taking me in a wrong way."

"Are you even capable of buying a small apartment in Hyatt Gardens?", he asked with a smirk. Hyatt Gardens has the most expensive apartments. "Oh, I'm sorry. Hyatt Gardens is much expensive for you. Where do you live? I'm sure it must be some small one or two bedroom apartment."

I wanted to laugh at him. I wonder if he would say this after he knows who I am.He's asking the world's richest lady if she can buy a mere apartment when she has the most expensive house in the world and the number one technological company.

"I think you don't even deserve the Villa", I sneered. "Don't beat around the bushes. I know you can't buy a Villa in Ruston", he said in an uneasy tone. I raised a brow at him. "Were you really going to give a Villa to me?", he asked.

"You doubt? I'm not so bad to reject anyone without paying. I'll just give you a Villa since you were not so sure", I said and took out my mobile to call Lucy. "Buy a Villa in Ruston under the name of Brendan Peterson."

"Okay, ma'am. I'll buy it and send the papers to him", Lucy said, and then I hung up.

I turned to Brendan and said, "The papers will be sent to Peterson Corporation in the Vice President's office before you reach." His jaws dropped at my words. I ignored him and walked out.

"Where to, my lady?", the Chauffeur asked. "RJ Helps", I said. The Chauffeur bowed and started driving. We reached there in 30 minutes.

RJ Helps is the orphanage I opened three years back for my mom. She loved children and would be sad when she saw helpless children on the streets. RJ is for Ruby Jane. It helps all the children who are homeless and are not able to get treated due to financial problems.

I went to the Director's office and talked about the condition of the NGO and some other things. Being the Vice Chairwoman of such a big NGO is not an easy task. I've to make sure about the condition of the kids here and othe things. Well, the Chairwoman is of course my mother.

"Ms. Anna, don't worry about anything. Everything is alright under your supervision", the Director said. She was a lady in her late thirties who's a widow. She is a truth worthy lady.

After a while, I left for home. As I entered, I saw my mom looking at the gifts in the living again and again. "My lady", everyone bowed as I entered. "Since when is she looking those gifts?", I asked mom's assistant.

"Since the afternoon when she got it. She had been counting them again and again not to miss anything", said Joanna, my mom's assistant. Joanna is almost the same age as my mom just two year younger. I hired her especially for mom to assist her and take care of her. She is one of my trust worthy lady.

I sighed and walked to mom. I took off my gloves and gave to the maids. "Mom, are you that excited to leave me?", I asked. She turned to me and said, "NaNa, I'm so excited to see everyone. I wish you too could go with me."

"Its okay, mom. As long as you're happy, I'm happy", I said and gave a small smile. "See I got this for your cousin's newly born daughter. How's this?", she asked showing me a princess dress. "Its nice, mom."

She didn't miss a gift for anyone. She got all the expensive and beautiful gifts for everyone. I'm happy to see her so lively and happy. "When will you come back?", I asked her. "I'm going after almost seven years, I'll stay there for at least two months", she said as thought for a while.

Mom, you miss them so much. I hope you get all the happiness. In the end, everything I'm doing and earning is all for you. As long as you're happy, I'll get you everything in the world even if I've to spend trillions on that thing. You were the one who went through everything for me, now it's time for me to pay back.

"See, this is for your cousin. He's now 14. You remember, he used to be so scared of you because you were the most strict one", she laughed as she said. I laughed too as I remembered those childhood memories.

She showed me all the gifts she bought. I just nodded and listened to her. I once again checked everything. I arranged four bodyguards for her.

"Mom, don't tell anyone about my company", I reminded mom as it wasn't the time yet. She nodded. We talked about her journey and then I came to room to freshen up then had dinner with mom.

I came back to my room and sat on the bed with my laptop. Suddenly, my mobile rang. It was an unknown number. The call was on my old number that i used 7 years back. Who could it be? I picked the call. "Hello?" No answer came. Who is it?

"Anna", came a familiar male voice. My heart started beating faster and a lump formed in my throat. "W-Who are you?", I asked even though I almost knew who it could be. I can't forget the voice of that person.

"How are you?", the voice asked. "Are you drunk again?", I asked in my usual cold tone. "I'm sorry", the person said. I didn't say anything for a while as no words came out. "What are you sorry for?", I asked once I got my voice back.

"For everything. I was wrong. It was my fault not to trust", the person said. "Ha! You think it's so easy to just apologize for you and for me to forgive you after what you did?", I almost yelled.

The other line went quiet for a while. "I'm sorry", the person once again said. I hung the call and blocked the number. I can never forgive you. I'm sorry. I cried. I don't know why I cry everytime I think about those memories.with a smile. "You didn't sleep too", I said as I walked to her bed and laid my head on her laps.

"I'm just excited to meet my family after so long", she said with a wide smile. "I'll miss you, mommy", I said and hugged her tightly as I snuggled my face into her stomach. "My baby, if you miss me then just come to see me", she said. I nodded.

I slept with her that night hugging her tightly like some kid. "Even the strongest person needs a person to rely on. I hope you get that person too", she said.

"I have you", I said and hugged her tightly. "You need a person who will be with you at every step of your life", she said as she caressed my hairs. "I don't need to rely on anyone. I've everything I need. Money, fame and you."

I went to my mom's room. "Annie, you didn't sleep yet? It's almost 12 am", she said

"You once again rejected the guy, huh?", she asked. I just kept quiet and closed my eyes. "She always falls asleep when I'm talking about marriage and love", she murmured and closed her eyes.

I turned to the side.

If you wanted me to love anyone in the future then why didn't you fall for anyone after father? How can you expect me to fall in love with anyone now*?
