Night descended like a dark veil over the city and brought with it the fury of the storm. Heavy, icy drops hit the roof like hammers and thunder rumbled in the sky, making the house shake and the most sensitive hearts cringe with fear.
Christophe was sleeping on the floor, oblivious to the chaos, in a makeshift bed that we had put together with blankets and pillows, while I curled up in bed, terrified of the lightning that tore through the darkness.
"Your bones are shaking so much I can hear it. Would you like another blanket? I don't really feel cold."
"No need, thank you. It's not cold" I moved away from the edge of the bed and turned towards the window, where the winds were howling outside. I thought it would calm me down, but every clap of thunder in the sky made me jump in fright and let out a muffled scream.
"Are you afraid of thunder?" He asked and I remained silent. Christophe let out a grunt of boredom and moved. I felt the mattress sink behind me and turned to see what he was doing. He was on his knees beside me, looking at me curiously. "How did you weather the storms alone in that apartment?"
"I was hugging my teddy bears and trying not to scream," I confessed and Christophe smiled slightly.
A deafening thunderclap burst into the room, lighting up everything around, and I clung to Christophe, letting out a terrified scream. He covered my mouth with his hand, trying to calm me down.
"Don't worry, beautiful. I'm here," he said, smiling broadly. I was mesmerized by his sharp canines and reached out to touch them.
"Then it's not so scary," I said.
Christophe's eyes lit up at my touch and he held my hand tightly. He looked at the bite he had left on my wrist. The mark was still red, but already healing, and he kissed it lovingly.
I shuddered at the feel of his lips on my skin, but the spell was broken when a loud thunderclap took over the room and made me jump in fear again.
Christophe gave me a sweet smile, got on the bed behind me and wrapped his arms around me.
When I tried to protest, he hissed and began to caress my belly with surprising delicacy with his huge hand and this relaxed me so much that I didn't even notice the thunder and fell asleep.
I woke up in the morning feeling his breath in my hair. Christophe was sleeping so peacefully that I didn't want to wake him. He looked like an angel, with his long eyelashes and his lips ajar. I snuggled closer to him and closed my eyes, basking in his warmth.
Last night's storm had gone, and the sun streamed in through the window, illuminating his face. I smiled, thinking of how kind and protective he had been of me in that tense moment. I felt safe for the first time after so many nights of clenching my toes in fear.
I didn't know what to expect from what lay ahead, but at that moment, something inside me just wanted to stay there, feeling that delicious warmth.
After knocking slowly on the door, my mother opened it and looked at us with a smile that showed all her joy at finding us in bed together. I signaled silence with my finger in my mouth and winked at her, because I knew she would have one of her fits and it was no different. She danced around the room playfully, trying not to make a sound, but I ended up laughing out loud, unable to contain myself.
"You're both noisy," Christophe grumbled, pulling me tighter to his chest.
"Taking advantage of the fact that you're both awake, let's have some coffee because you're about to embark on a long walk and you can't leave with an empty stomach."
"It's true," he said, but he didn't move from his position or open his eyes. I tried to move, but Christophe held me even tighter. "You just stand there. Give us five minutes, mother-in-law."
He asked and my mother bluntly left, closing the door.
The big man moved quickly across the bed, placing himself between my legs and leaning on the pillow.
"Last night was torture, you know?" he bent down to me and put his lips to my ears. "I had you in my hands, craving that body like a madman and you were sleeping so peacefully."
"It's not my fault if you're a pervert. And my mother is not your mother-in-law!" I tried to get away, but it was hard to make sudden movements. Christophe gave a wicked smile against the skin of my neck and I almost moaned at that.
"You're to blame for always enchanting me." He confessed. "I thought this time I could restrain myself when I saw you for the first time, but you looked so beautiful in that uniform that you melted me completely."
"Christophe... I'm running out of breath..." I warned, but my whole body tingled as if it begged him to continue talking to him, and the big guy gave me a kiss on my pulse point.
Yes, I was running out of breath, but it was the purest desire. However, I tried to make it seem like his weight was suffocating me and he temporarily backed off to make sure of that.
I don't know if he believed it, but he left a kiss on the tip of my nose and got off me, freeing my body.
I felt that emptiness of abandonment consuming me again. I wanted to know why I felt so sad when he distanced himself from me, but I didn't have the courage to ask. Maybe he didn't truly love me.
"If you don't want me to desire you, at least wear uglier pajamas." The wolf muttered, with a hint of irony.
I looked at my body and grimaced at seeing my pajamas. It was a pink and white Hello Kitty pants and a loose blouse with straps and blue flowers.
I didn't understand what he meant, because to me that outfit was not indecent. I believe it wouldn't be for anyone.
