The secret opening

I just couldn't get a grip on what was happening in front of me. the floor had started to shake and the tiles which were at the center of the room started shifting like a jigsaw puzzle trying to arrange itself. I hadn't noticed before but the tiles were filled with incomprehensible images which had now started to form a clear and complete picture.

Totally amazed, I could just keep on watching. After a few seconds, the final tiles clicked in place and I could now see the picture. it was a little hazy as if submerged in something but it was a sword. it was just like a normal sword but the unusual thing about it was that there was a big red heart shape in the middle of the hilt and looked like it was embedded in the hilt of the sword. around the big heart there were small red ones all around.

Then around the swords picture, were all kind of ancient letters and symbols in faded brown colour.these symbols suddenly started to darken and the four tiles containing the red heart of the sword suddenly split open, sliding below the adjacent tiles.

The hand in which I was still carrying the locket lurched forward taking my whole body with it. Just as I was going to fall in the space which had magically appeared, I let go of the locket and collapsed on the floor while it fell into the crack. I sat down panting, the force had nearly knocked me out of breath due to its impulse.I looked over at the wall and saw that one of the bricks had gone inwards as if someone had pushed it in. So THAT is why all this happened! God! it must have been when I saw the mouse and my hand must have accidentally pressed the brick. What a coincidence!

It must be a secret entrance to a dungeon or something, I thought.i had seen a lot of things like this in movies and it's all common when reading any history. Curiously, I peered down the hole which had formed. Just then I heard my aunt's voice!

I looked at the door and back at the opening.......not knowing what to do, I ran into the kitchen because I didn't want aunt to see all the mess which had been created. she smiled at me and said lunch is set, you must be hungry after all the cleaning you did. It was then I remembered that I was actually supposed to clean up the basement!

SHIT!!!!!

I had completely forgotten about it. I gave her an embarrassed smile and said "yes" I don't know why but I felt that I should keep the happenings to myself..my little secret. that very thought was so exciting!

I was not really hungry so I just pushed the contents here and there and so this was noticed by my aunt who looked at me suspiciously and asked "are you alright? what happened? why are you not eating? are you unwell?"

"no no I'm fine" I said and forced the food down. I was really very excited to explore the opening and wanted to go back as fast as I could.

" arya,do you want me to come down and help you? I have already finished my work." aunt asked. " no!" I replied a little too quickly. She raised her eyebrows at my sudden outburst.

" I mean, no aunt thanks but I'm enjoying all the cleaning process and I'm not tired at all!" I smiled and said feebly. I could not let my aunt know of the state in which the basement was, I simply couldn't.

"are you sure?" she asked

"Yes yes I'm perfectly sure" I said relieved.

" okay then, go back to work and call me if you need an extra hand. I'll be up here"

" sure" I replied knowing that it won't be needed at all.
