He doesn't understand at what point he became so separated from his university group, he just went to take some plant samples, he thought he hadn't strayed that far, and now it turns out he doesn't know how to find his way back. Hunger was already making itself known and he didn't even have the foresight to put one of those energy bars his sister-in-law makes in his pocket...

On the other hand, a group of biology students are searching using their sense of smell and senses to find the Dumont-Holter's fiancee. They have been looking for her for about three hours; however, they seem to be going in the opposite direction.

From one moment to the next, the girl missed her footing and fell down a ravine, landing at the bottom.

"Shit! How am I going to get out of here now?" she said to herself.

The temperature was beginning to drop tenaciously, being human, she required more shelter. Suddenly the sound of a breaking branch puts her on alert, she knows that in that forest there are other kinds of magical creatures, she just hopes it's not a vampire, but as if everything was conspiring against her, from one moment to the next she is pinned against the wall of earth and roots.

"Well, look what I just found," said the vampire, sniffing the scent of the human's blood, though he could also smell wolf.

Meanwhile, Antoine and his four sons are desperately searching for Selene, knowing that she, being human, is easy prey in the woods.

Selene, on the other hand, was praying that someone would arrive and it seemed her prayers were heard. Suddenly, a huge black wolf stood behind the vampire, who was still holding Selene by the neck. The wolf bared its great fangs, letting out its breath near the bloodsucker's ear, its scent reaching the girl's little nose, then she knew, of course she knew, she is the daughter of a wolf, although she was born human like her mother. Without warning and in a matter of seconds, the wolf ripped off the head of the human's attacker in front of him. When she was free and had recovered, she could better appreciate the beauty of the animal.

"Y... y... you're my..." she managed to say and passed out.

The next morning she woke up startled on the soft mattress of her bed, was that whole experience real?

"My baby, you had me very worried, look how that disgusting bloodsucker left your neck," mentioned Rebecca, who was sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Mo... Mom, was it all real?" Her voice was dysphonic.

"It was all real, my baby," her mother said ruefully.

"Where's the wolf that saved me?"

"There was no wolf when they found you," Rebecca commented.

A sadness invaded her heart, she is sure that that wolf was real and that he is also her mate.

In the middle of the forest, in a small wooden cabin hidden from prying eyes, a tall, well-built man sits in his armchair in front of the crackling fireplace, his gaze fixed on the dancing flames, though his gaze is really lost from that natural spectacle, his mind wandering in the memory of that beautiful creature in the forest.

"What does this mean? Do I have the right to a second chance after being so miserable with my mate?" Ben asked into nothingness.

It had been more than 70 years since he had found his destined one and he had rejected her because his father told him that he did not need a weak omega, and he, wanting to always obey his father's advice, publicly rejected her in what was his pack. The poor girl did not resist the rejection and died shortly after, provoking the wrath of the Moon Goddess, who made that pack disappear.

For many years he wandered, until he came to that French forest and there he felt the need to settle down, he had been a wanderer since he left his native Switzerland, however when he arrived at that place, the goddess spoke to him in a dream and told him that there he would find the reason why he would fight, a cause that would lead him to reform his territory.
