Katerina did not expect to see her brother in that place. Although she saw him two years ago when he showed up at the villa, Thomas only stayed a week and had to return to the academy. But a month ago, she wrote to him and let him know what she was planning to do to help eradicate the war and about her ideal of reaching the throne. Of course, Thomas was somewhat annoyed by that crazy plan, but he understood her and swore he would give her his support, since he had already heard about Rowan and the Empress.
Thomas had also trained day and night to become a powerful mage, even managing to obtain a Magic Weapon, whose function is to increase the potential of a mage, in addition to serving to better channel their magic. Thomas' Magic Weapon was similar to an antique pistol, which served to shoot his lightning magic in the form of bullets of light that exploded upon piercing his opponent's skin. This was a powerful weapon, which showed that Thomas possesses a high-level mana power.
"It seems your plans were true. I was surprised to see how easily you finished off those men."
He never expected to see that his sister could be a merciless woman towards her enemy.
"I wouldn't do this if I couldn't fight alone, though I must admit you were helpful." She shrugs.
"I told you I'd help you. I can't leave you alone."
They both come out of the forest and the screech of an eagle is heard. Looking up, Katerina's griffin can be seen flying around and descends near where they both were.
"That animal is really loyal to you, it has come for you," Thomas mentions.
"Don't talk about him like that, his name is Snow." Katerina approaches the griffin and strokes his head, then climbs onto his back.
"Go ahead, I'll catch up, mine is..." He looks around. "I think I left him nearby."
Thomaa quickly goes in search of the griffin he traveled on. It was tied to a tree, the animal was of a plumage similar to an eagle. Thomas climbs on it and, when flying, it doesn't take long to reach Katerina. The blonde explains that if he wants to accompany her, they must go south, there are probably some Ketzanian troops there and their mission is to end all their chances of advancing.
A day after finishing off those troops, the news reached Arek's camp. So far, the only ones affected are Ketzanian soldiers, so they probably don't have to worry and should take this opportunity to attack; if enemy troops are losing squadrons, it is their chance to weaken them further.
"General Graham is right, Your Highness, we must attack in the north, that's where they lost most of their men," Jack points out.
"General Graham, send Captain Stephen's troops, but if they find it too risky, have them come back, we can't lose any more people," Arek mentions.
General Graham rushes to comply with his order, although it is somewhat risky, they must try to advance, because if they just wait, this war will never end. So while Captain Stephen leads his troops north, they will launch an attack as a distraction.
This is how Arek ordered the troops to be mobilized to launch an attack, so Prince Edwin quickly sent a squadron to defend the attack, something that really surprised him, because until now, the Lutzalyan troops always wait for them to attack. Although they are probably restless because of the recent attacks that speak of a witch, he still doesn't believe it's possible.
The battle commenced, so the captain was able to move his troops unseen. The distraction was serving them well, until Edwin receives the news; the troops he sent into Lutzalyan territory had been eliminated. This caused the retreat to be ordered. Arek did not expect such a thing, but at least the purpose of the attack was only a distraction and his troops were now marching north.
"What could have made them turn back?" Jack wonders.
"They've probably already heard about what happened to the troops that crossed the territory," Arek mentions.
"Who are the ones attacking? I don't think it's true that there's a witch," Jack says.
Arek is startled. Now that he thinks about it, there is one person who claimed to be a witch and even showed him a little of her mana, an ice mana.
"Could it be?" Arek asks himself.
He has been so focused on the war that he had forgotten those words of Katerina.
"Jack, I think it is a witch, one we both know." Arek shows a warm smile after saying this.
Jack just looks at him confused, but in a matter of seconds he reacts when he sees Arek's expression and imagines who he's talking about.
"Oh... Could it be?" He can't imagine that a single person could have so much power.
"It could be. Well, Jack, let's take this opportunity, we must end this war."
Arek sends for the generals, they must find a way to advance, if Katerina is giving them a chance, they must take advantage of it.
Meanwhile, on the Ketzanian side, Edwin couldn't explain how it was possible that his troops were being shot down by a mysterious attacker. Even if it was a witch, it was not possible for one person to defeat the troops, most likely the Lutzalyans have some special troop attacking them and with that they want to panic him. The prince orders the second squadron to be prepared, for he will go out to investigate the supposed ice witch and, if possible, will not hesitate to cut off her head.
"Your Highness, everything is ready, be careful, we don't know what the enemy is planning," mentions one of his generals.
"General, you're in charge for now, keep watch."
With that said, he climbed onto a griffin as did his squadron, though they had the animals run through the forest so as not to be seen by the Lutzalyans.
