Chapter 4

As the supposedly Uncrowned Campus Belle of Ashwood, it was not the first time Vanessa was subjected to such ridiculous and presumptuous rumours and it definitely would not be the last time either.

Other times, they would have ignored the whole thing or at least feigned ignorance however, this time, it mattered! Why? Because all the four mentioned by that 'backstabber' were Vanessa's childhood friends!!

As they walked into the Lady's Washroom, both Vanessa and Kennedy could hear some 'not-so-pleasant' whispers of some insignificant girls who just left with a mocking scoff.

Kennedy was almost unable to hold her horses and go after them to offer them some free 'education', fortunately, she was withheld by Vanessa.

"Heyy… just forget it! Don't waste your breath on some barking dogs."

Vanessa said softly as her eyebrows tightened, her brown eyes cold and frustrated.

Kennedy once again felt sorry for Vanessa, having to bear all these yet again. Vanessa had a lot of admirers of both genders on an honest note, however, Kennedy had seen that one side of Vanessa where she never gave hints or fake hopes about anything to her admirers, not even once!

However, people who hate you will find faults in everything you do, be it your philanthropy or rage. It was the same here.

Samuel Lakewood and Aaron Sanchez are close childhood friends of Vanessa. Coincidentally, their girlfriends happen to be two more of her former best friends. However, Vanessa is still great friends with them, but they don't hang out together as much as they used to. The two girlfriends are Jaylen White and Kylie Burton. Interestingly, Kylie Burton is also a distant relative of Kennedy.

Vanessa did not care much about the two (idiotic) friends Samuel and Aaron being affected by what she heard, as it would take maybe another month before they even came to know of it.

 And Jaylen was an absolutely lovely friend, she would not believe such a stupid rumour and would not mind it even if she heard it (she would not even care to identify if it was legit) after all, there was a trust bond that was quite strong between them.

However!!

As for Kylie, Vanessa had a headache just imagining it.

As if imagining it was not enough, Kennedy read her mind and said out loud.

"We can clarify things with Samuel, Aaron and Jaylen if they hear it but Kylie.....hmm there's a 75% she might spread fake hateful rumours about you, right?"

"I know! I don't even want to deal with this rumour, let alone her spreading multiple fake rumours!" Vanessa replied, faking a cry.

They were doing what girls typically do, gossiping or rather investigating anyone and everyone who could have done it, as they walked around the campus again.

After Kennedy's logical explanation of all of Vanessa's crazy suspects and suspicions, both concluded that it 'may' be caused by the extended version of stories brought out by one of the two boys, Samuel and Aaron.

Why? Because to female teens (female) at the peak rebellious and crazy cringe era, probably could only think of the boys, spilling some useless muddle headed stories and causing the current rumour.

Thus, the two 'smart' friends went to confront the roots of evil.

While all this drama was going on, the on-watchers of the rising drama tension going on, were grateful that their school was very thoughtful of everything, including breaks. Their lunch break was an hour long enabling everything unfolding, to take place comfortably without a stop.

The said root of the rumour, Samuel and Aaron at the moment of speaking, were intensely discussing the latest soccer match winners of the National Cup and the upcoming players for the State Team.

A scene, nostalgic to some on-lookers, comparing it to the intense talk that was going on between Manhua fanatics a while ago.
