I would have gone into more details on what happened in the principal’s office, though that's not important to this
story. This day changed everything and your about to find why.
The detention started tomorrow and Kohl's past detention was able to be pushed back to tomorrow; so we were able to leave right after the principals meeting since at that point it was already 3:30. Me and Kohl went to grab our bookbags, While Amelia went her separate ways with her pissed off face ways.
At this point we had grabbed out bookbags talked a little in a joking around way. Though now was the time I
needed to be serious with her, I needed to take a chance. We were just about to walk out of doors to leave school. I grabbed her and to stop her from walking out those doors. Kohl stopped turned and looked at me we were facing each just like any other time. Though this time it was different everything was on the line. I put my bookbag on the floor and was ready for whatever would happen.
Kohl: What is it? It’s raining so we should definitely start walking quickly home
Kohl: How about this we talk outside, while were still walking home 2 birds one stone bingo
Len: No, this is important it has to be in here, I need your full attention
Kohl: Okay if it’s that important to you just take your time an tell me
Len: Okay here it goes
Len: Kohl I like you in a girlfriend to girlfriend make out way
Kohl: Ow
Len: I’ve wanted to tell you I have feeling for you and I want to know if you wanted to go out on a date
Kohl: Len I ….uhm…...
Kohl stopped looking at my face and started looking straight down at the floor
Len: okay I understand you know what I think I'm hungry so I'm going to take a different way Uh, bye and make sure to keep your face iced
Kohl: Wait Len,
I had watched enough movies read enough books to know nothing good ever starts with the words well uhm. I thought I would be fine if Kohl rejected me, but it still hurt. I ran out the door and started running home. Kohls tried to chase me but stopped to catch a breath and lost me. I just couldn't face her it was too hard to hear the words I knew she would say all along. It wasn't pouring so it wasn't incredibly hard to get home in. Though when I ran out through the doors, I left my keys in the bookbag which I left at school. I just sat at the front door waiting for my sister , father, mother, or brother to come home. I sat there crying, at that doorstep. Crying wondering what was it about me that she didn't like, why wasn't I good enough to be with her? Was I selfish did I ruin our friendship because of my non- important feelings?
After an hour, my mom came home from work. She found me on the doorsteps damp from all the rain, with my eyes red from crying. I looked up and saw her and stood up moving out of the way for her to unlock the door. she was in her usual work pants and slick black hair. She had her hair up which meant she was stressed out at her banking job.
Mom: Are you okay? Why don't you
have your book bag or your house key? and why is your left eye swollen?
Len: I forgot my bookbag at school which had my keys in it
Mom: Do you want to talk about any of this?
Len: talk about what?
Mom: Okay, I'd be fine with a no too but I am here if you need or want to talk, and I'm also here if you just want to sit in slice with me and just want my presence
Len: Okay
She unlocked the door and I ran upstairs into my room to take a shower.
