I laugh at his conclusion. Me, a sorceress? A weapon to defeat the Demon King? Hysterical. I go through the chicken wings madly, while Fiel stares at me seriously.
Aurora: “Fiel, how’d you even get that conclusion? Look at me, how is this gonna defeat the Demon King?”
Fiel: “Rory I’m serious, no one in history has ever conjured up items or spells without using a magic circle or chanting, it’s simply unheard of.”
I stop eating and stare at him, he looks really serious. I think about what he just said and thought that it’s just way too ridiculous to think that I’m suppose to be really strong, I mean, maybe I am? I did defeat that Deernitaur, I smirk.
Aurora: “Ok so let’s say that I really am the weapon, am I really that strong so is that why I was able to defeat that Deernitaur?”
Fiel: “Did you not have magic in the world you were in?”
Aurora: “Nope, but we had technology though.”
Fiel: “Te-k-noh-lo-jee? Fascinating! Tell me more about this later, as for that Deernitaur, it was a basic level 2 monster so we still need to test more of your powers to tell which level you are at. But I can assure you that you are really strong judging from the lack of chants, magic circles, and the enchanted clothes you’re wearing.”
So apparently these are fireproof clothes? Cool, cool, not freaky at all. Hold up, level 2 monster? That thing was only level 2?
Aurora: “That Deernitaur was only level 2? Then how was it so big? It looked at least like it was level 6 or something.”
Fiel: “Rory, just because it‘s big doesn’t mean it’s strong, but still, you should never underestimate your opponents because the moment you do, you’ve already lost. Deernitaurs are very fast despite their big builds, although they do lack strength ironically.”
I raise my eyebrows at the advice he just told me, so I guess this is happening huh, I’m really in a different world, with different hair colors and different eyes, and freaking magic. Fiel is the only one I know here and he’s been really helpful, so it’s better to just go with the flow and maybe then I’ll find some answers on how I can go back home.
Fiel: “It’s pretty late now, the bedroom beside the bookshelf over there is where you’ll sleep and I’ll be in my study, tomorrow we’ll test out your powers so make sure to rest up, but first dinner!”
So it wasn’t a bathroom but his study. What an eventful day, I didn’t even notice the sun was setting already with how things went. Fiel stands up and goes to the kitchen, I’m assuming it’s to fix us something for dinner. I stand up and check a couple of his books lined up messily on the bookshelves, some clearly shoved in without care. Shocking to know that his books are a mess, considering how Fiel looks like he’d be the type to faint at the slightest speck of dust.
The house is pretty clean though, it’s a mystery how his bookshelves ended up that way when everything else is neat. I smell the delicious aroma of whatever Fiel is making, causing my tummy to grumble a bit even if I already ate a plate of wings not too long ago. I sit down at the table and wait for Fiel. He arrives shortly, serving us what seems to be steak with garlic butter and some herbs.
Aurora: “Looks amazing! I didn’t know you could cook.”
Fiel: “Technically I can’t, it was mostly magic that did all this, it’s quite handy really.”
We both dig in and it was easily one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. It was soft and chewy, not too raw and not too well-done, it was just right. The herbs and the garlic butter compliment each other very well, each of them balancing the flavor without one overpowering the other.
Aurora: “This is so good! You should’ve just been a chef instead of an archmage, or you could be both!”
Fiel: “Why thank you! Positive feedback is greatly appreciated. When you’re done, just hurry on and rest, we have a tiring day tomorrow. The dishes are no problem.”
Fiel is a godsend, why do guys like him not exist in Earth? I’d gladly take him home. I finish up and bring the dishes to the sink, it’s the least I could do for that wonderful meal. I get in the bedroom and it feels unused, it’s not big, just enough to fit a single bed to my far left, a desk and a chair beside the bed, and a small closet to my right. There’s a door beside the closet and to my delight, it’s a bathroom.
The bathroom is pretty standard, a shower to my right, a sink and a toilet to my left. I take a hot shower and I conjure up a bag where I can store my dirty laundry, I also conjure up a nightgown after my shower, using the towel beside the small sink to dry myself. How convenient, this power feels so great, I shouldn’t rely on it too much though, but for now, I’ll take advantage of it.
I wished for my hair to dry and it did. I get under the covers of my bed and recall the day, I realized I was actually more tired than I thought.
Aurora: “Tomorrow’s gonna be a tiring day too so I better sleep now.”
I mumble as I fall into a dreamless sleep.
???: “Aurora, your time is nearing. Your fate is full of dangerous challenges, you must overcome each one of them successfully, and although you have doubts now, you are far more powerful than you think.”
