Struggling in the grasp of the man who had taken hold of her in the darkness when all of a sudden they pulled out a lighter and lit it up to reveal her brother, Shane, holding up his index finger to his lips, gesturing to her to keep quiet

Slowly removing his hand from her mouth when he received a nod from his sister, opening the pantry door slightly, he sat patiently and attentively, hearing for any sound that came from the kitchen right outside the door

Turning back to his sister's scared little figure on the ground, he held his hand up and told her to stay put, opening the door of the pantry slowly, he limped out and was about to close the door when he suddenly felt a small tug on the hem of his shirt

Looking down to see the small hand of his sister, who looked up worriedly at him. Mustering the courage to give her a smile to reassure her before slowly walking deeper into the kitchen

Negative thoughts swarmed Y/n as she saw her brother's figure disappear into the darkness, biting her lip nervously, stepping back immediately from her place when a sudden light was directly shone between the cracks of the door

Covering her mouth to not let any sound escape from her, breathing ragged as two sets of footsteps came approaching the pantry she was in, those footsteps were from her brother, however the other set of footsteps were unfamiliar

The door was suddenly burst open, and the kitchen pantry lights were turned on, shielding herself with her arms as she let out a scared squeak when all of a sudden...

"Surprise!!"

Lowering her arms, she saw her brother crouched down on the floor with his arms wide open, presenting a little robotic cat with a black coat of freshly sprayed paint with little patches of white on its underside and mane

Dumbstruck, she took a moment to process what was happening before running up to pick the cat up from the ground and raise it to her eye level

Noticing something from under one of its paws, she noticed her brother's initials and her initials on the other paw

Looking up at her brother to see him already looking back at her, giving him her brightest smile with her teeth showing as she held the cat securely in her arms

"Thank you!"

Y/n lies on the soft carpeted ground with her hair sprawled out, with one arm behind her head and the other gently stroking the newly found friend that lay peacefully on her stomach

She had turned off the light in her room and took one of her brother's gift to her. It had projected bright little specks of light in the ceiling and walls of her bedroom, it was a gift her brother made before the accident, it showed what they thought the stars looked like based on the books they read when they were younger

She had dreamt of the day when the surface no longer held any danger towards humanity, she and her brother would peacefully go stargazing, her dreams had driven her to thinking of what she could do to help humanity and see the outside world above them

She was young and a dreamer like all the other children her age, she was what inspired and drove her brother to be the best he could be for the safety and comfort of his little sister

Her brother gave all his efforts for his sister, dreaming for his sister to be safe and living in a bright peaceful land, wanting what's best for her, he had willingly dedicated his life to reclaiming the surface and get back to his sister as soon as possible

He knew that there was a big chance that he wouldn't be able to get back to her, however, he put up a positive outlook to avoid negative thoughts rushing in and making him astray from his path to success

Shane let out a yawn and checked on the time, putting up both of his arms, stretching and straightening his back to relieve the tension

Standing up slowly, he put away his ball pen into one of the drawers in his desk and put away the papers into a pile in the corner of the table, turning off the study lamp to his right then walking out of his study, turning off the light switch and locking the door behind him

Walking down the dimly lit hallway, he went to check on his little sister, knocking lightly on her slighlty oped bedroom door

"Hey, you still awake?"

When he heard no answer, he slowly opened the door only to see her lying on cold floor, no longer on the carpet with her hair messily sprawled out, slightly cover her face

Light snores came from the young child and the cat that lay sleeping beside her on the carpet

Walking over to her, Shane slipped his arms behind her knees and neck, lifting up her small body slowly off from the cold floor

Walking over to the bed that was placed on the right corner of the room, Placing the child in his arms onto the warm comfort of the sheets

Lifting the blanket over her, Shane cleaned up the mess on the floor and picked up the cat, leaving it to lay on the bed, right beside Y/n

Before leaving, Shane tucked Y/n's hair behind her ear and left a kiss on her forehead, rising to his feet, he turned to leave, closing the door slightly behind him.
