Episode 7

Dimitri

I was next to my car with the professor when I turned to see him with his arms crossed, a furrowed brow, and a pout like a 3-year-old boy. Seeing him like that made me want to put him over my knees and give him a good spanking.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Wasn't it supposed to be you asking for my hand?" he replied.

"Asking would imply giving up if your family didn't agree, which is out of the question, so I decided to just inform them of my decision," I explained.

"Well, next time, let me know so I don't look foolish. And what's this about a wedding in a month? What makes you think I know how to organize a wedding?"

"If you don't know how, hire someone who does. I gave you my Black card for that. The wedding will be on the 24th; we'll sign the papers on the 23rd in the morning and have a small reception for my associates in the evening."

"I imagine those are the people you want to irritate with this wedding?"

"Exactly, members of the mafia and my dear father."

The boy seemed to have shrunk by half a meter and looked sick.

I already knew why.

"Don't worry. I promised your sister I would take care of you and protect you, and you should already be aware that I always keep my promises," I assured him.

"Okay," he replied.

"I'll come to see you every Saturday and Sunday. I'll be very busy during the week. If you have any problems, call me, and I'll come immediately. If it's urgent, ask for help from Tiago. Do you understand?" I asked.

"Yes, sir," he responded, his tone tinged with irony.

I walked up to him and held his chin as if to kiss him, but when I was close enough, I turned his face and whispered in his ear with a commanding tone, "If you speak to me like that again, especially near my people, I swear, professor, you won't see the sunrise."

He looked at me wide-eyed, trembling.

"Remember, I am the head of the Mafia. I have a reputation to uphold, and I won't allow anyone to treat me differently than that. Do you understand?" I reiterated.

"Yes," he replied.

"Good, now I'm going home," I said as I turned and left him looking confused and funny.

I left and headed straight to my office in the mansion. I have a lot to work out before this wedding; I don't want to leave anything to chance, nothing that could harm me or invalidate what I'm going to do. Everything needs to be perfect.

Malik

This crazy man almost broke my jaw, talked to me that way, and then kissed me so gently. What does he want? To mess with my head?

The first two weeks passed with me procrastinating everything related to the wedding, almost driving my sister crazy with anger. I don't have good memories of the last time I planned a wedding.

Dimitri's visits to our house followed the same pattern. He arrived, sat in the living room with Malcolm, Malcom's son, until dinner was ready. We had dinner, had coffee on the veranda, I walked him to the car, and he kissed my forehead before leaving.

When my sister "let slip" that we were behind on wedding preparations to Dimitri, I noticed he tensed up before giving me a good scolding before leaving.

After that, I decided there was no reason to delay, so I just started planning. As I had in mind, I organized a wedding in a minimalist and elegant style. Lots of white orchids, broad leaves, and wood. A brief and straightforward ceremony. Simple and tasty food. Nothing overdone or extravagant.

The week of the wedding arrived, and I wasn't like a passionate and anxious groom. I just wanted it all to be over. I woke up on the morning of the civil wedding and found the suits I would wear for the courthouse and the ceremony at Dimitri's house.

Now that the day has come, I'm kind of freaking out about the mess I got myself into by agreeing to this wedding.

When I got downstairs, my family was so happy and excited that I felt guilty for deceiving everyone. My sister insisted on dressing me up and making me impeccable, the civil wedding suit was in a cold gray tone. I liked the fit and how simple yet high fashion it was, I hope it's enough for Dimitri.

Tiago took me to the registry office, and as always telling me very funny stories from his childhood in Brazil, I discovered a great friend in him, that's one of the only good things Dimitri brought me.

When we arrived, Tiago said that the boss had reserved a private room for the ceremony, so me and my family would have some privacy. When I arrived I noticed that Dimitri was wearing a black suit as usual. Which made me wonder if I overdid it with my outfit.

As soon as we entered the room, everyone looked at me, Dimitri asked the judge to proceed with the ceremony immediately. It didn't last more than 5 minutes and we were already married. The ring Dimitri chose was simple, smooth and without any detail, you could see he didn't care.

After the civil wedding, Dimitri took everyone to lunch at a luxury restaurant near Central Park, which I later found out belonged to his organization. This man is full of surprises.

After the meal, my family went home, and I went to the mansion with Dimitri, to attend the ceremony for his friends today, and also for the wedding party that will be the next morning.

As soon as we arrived at the gate, I could look more carefully and see how huge that place was, I wouldn't have any problems avoiding the ogre with such a big house.

I arrived and immediately left the bags in the room and returned to help with the party organization. It had everything to be a happy wedding day, until I had to face prejudice head-on.
