The cell phone, on the pine wood desk, vibrated. Leandro, who was looking at some reports on his computer, saw the screen light up and the name of his unbearable cousin appeared on the screen. Didn't Geovanny know he was a nuisance? Of course he did, but he loved to bother him at every possible opportunity. Whenever that fool sent a message, it was definitely something unimportant. Geovanny already knew that if he was ignored once, he wouldn't respond to a second message. He always sent one message and that was it, however, at that moment, three more arrived.
Thinking it was something of great importance, Leandro grabbed the cellphone from the desk and proceeded to open the message. A few seconds later, the landline next to him crashed against the wooden door. Without delay, he proceeded to dial the number of the annoying Bernocchi.
—"What the hell are you up to?!" He yelled, once the call connected on the other side.
[I thought you would ignore my messages.] Geovanny's pained voice could be heard on the other end. Leandro almost broke the phone hearing such hypocritical suffering.
—"How did you find him?" His voice was strong and severe. It was almost breaking his throat as he shouted at the top of his lungs. The photos he had received of Luka at that bastard's house were enough to put a price on his head. He didn't understand how his stupid cousin had found him, or why Luka was in his kitchen, wearing an apron and cooking for that trash.
[It was easy. I just had him followed, and promised him a spectacular salary. Of course, I had to lie a little bit, I don't think he would have wanted to come if he knew my real last name is Bernocchi.]
—"Geovanny, where are you going with all of this?" Leandro furrowed his eyebrows. He had enough dealing with Emanuele Russo, now he also had to keep Geovanny, the princess Bernocchi, at bay.
[Nowhere. I just want to know, what does he have, that even a person like you, moved heaven and earth to find him.]
—"He's nothing special. You can find someone like him on any damn corner you look." Leandro's gaze darkened. He would hate to admit that, in fact, Luka was the only person who remained enigmatic to him, and the only person he would never give up.
He had made it clear that he was with that college student, and, previously, when he had questioned his feelings towards him, he thought that as long as Luka didn't tell him he had someone else, he could keep trying to have sex with him. But he was someone who demanded exclusivity. He hated sharing his toys with others. And above all, he hated being reminded in his face that they were, or had been, with someone else. However, when it came to Luka, even though there was still a feeling of anger, he didn't think about leaving him. If anything, he thought about imprisoning him forever.
[Really?—Geovanny made a long 'humm' sound—, Why is it that I don't believe you in the slightest?]
—"Believe what you want, I don't care."
[Are you sure? From here, he has a very nice... backside... Hmm, he moves very well in the kitchen...—Leandro heard Geovanny panting and could imagine the disgusting way he was looking at Luka—. You know, I have no problem being the top, if it's about getting it into him...]
—"Shut your damn mouth, or I'll personally shut it for you!" He shouted. From the other end, a mocking laugh was heard.
[See you later, cousin.] Geovanny ended the call and Leandro hit his hand against the wooden desk. He hated that idiot. Unfortunately for him, he didn't even know where that rat was hiding.
After the last kidnapping, Geovanny's father chose to keep him in the shadows. For many, Geovanny Bernocchi was dead. He had survived once, but if he continued to bother him in such a way, not even his uncle could hide him from him.
—"Leo, Leo!" He shouted. Leo, who was working on what Luka used to do, entered the office, running.
—"Sir, is something wrong?"
—"Find a way to contact Luka... Find his friend, Emanuele Russo, and bring him here."
Leo nodded, then left.
The cell phone vibrated again, but this time, it was an international call.
"How are you?" Dylan asked as soon as the speaker was in his ear. On the other end, a warm smile adorned Dylan's lovely face.
[Things are going better than I thought. I was able to find out more about those strange human buyers.]
"That's perfect, have you encountered any problems?" Leandro grabbed his coat from the coat rack next to him and left the office.
[No, not at the moment. I'll be back in a week, is everything okay over there?]
"Very well. Um, hey, Dylan, if there's nothing else to talk about, I'm going to hang up. I have some important things to take care of."
[Okay, goodbye.]
Emanuele was leaving the last class at the university, walking towards the bus stop and looking at his phone when a black van stopped in front of him. The screeching noise made him look up and see, with some strangeness, the man getting out of it. He didn't remember his name, but it was the same person he had seen at his house.
"Emanuele Russo, my boss wants to ask you some questions," Leo said, pointing to the van. "Come with us."
Emanuele furrowed his brows. "Tell your boss, we have absolutely nothing to talk about."
"Don't make me do things the hard way," Leo threatened, grabbing his waist where the gun was placed.
He knew he didn't have many options, he knew what kind of business those people were involved in, and he couldn't afford to make them angry. Andrea, being a big mouth, told him everything about Luka's boss. Even the information he hadn't asked for. With no way to escape, he decided to go with them.
As he got into the van, two people sat on either side of him.
The journey to wherever they were going to meet was neither too long nor too short. The place they arrived at was a huge warehouse on the outskirts of the city. The place was practically abandoned, with acres and acres of vacant land. It was the perfect place to commit a murder and not raise suspicions.
“Leandro is obsessed with Luka. He once even hit a guy for daring to flirt with what he calls his property... it's better not to get in the way of that lunatic, but for defending Luka, I wouldn't mind dying... after all, Luka is all I have in life..."
Those were Andrea's words. The truth was, he wasn't willing to go that far, after all, he still had a family. However, just thinking about Luka and that boss made his heart ache.
"Follow me," Leo said, stepping out of the van and starting to walk down the dusty road.
Emanuele got out as well and followed him. Upon entering, the metal door made a screeching sound that resonated throughout the place. Inside, he saw several men walking back and forth with boxes in their hands.
"This way," Leo said again. The two walked up a metal staircase to the second floor, where they could see everything that was happening below. The sound of their footsteps on the cold metal was occasionally drowned out by the shouts of some men giving orders.
Emanuele was led to an office. Leo knocked three times on the door before hearing Leandro's cold voice from the other side. Leo opened the door and let him in.
"Welcome, Emanuele."
Leandro was standing in front of the desk, leaning slightly against the wood with his hands in his pockets. His shirt showcased his strong arms and perfect chest. His cold gaze and the scar on his face could make anyone feel intimidated. And although he was a little scared, he wasn't going to let that man see it.
"Why did you bring me here?" he asked, raising one eyebrow.
"By Luka, of course," he replied, pulling his hands out of his pockets and moving threateningly towards him. Leandro reached behind his back and pulled out the gun he always carried. Standing just inches away from Emanuele, he pointed the pistol directly under his chin. "I want you to stay away from him, or you will get hurt."
Emanuele swallowed hard and felt a shiver run down his spine.
