"I have to go now, tomorrow I have to go home early."Said Emanuele, as he stood up.
"I have to go too."Luka stood up, however, he had taken too much and his feet wobbled, luckily Emanuele managed to catch him.
"I booked a room in a hotel, two blocks from here, you can sleep there."Andrea took out the card with the hotel address from her small fanny pack and handed it to Emanuele.
"Thank you. I'll pay you back as soon as I get back."Emanuele looked too cute, even though he was tall and muscular.
"We're friends, we look out for each other. But if it makes you feel better, I want to get together in a few days, preferably without Luka."he murmured. Luka had been knocked out by the alcohol. If Emanuele wasn't holding him, he'd probably be lying on the floor.
He nodded, a little confused by the sudden request. Although Andrea had liked him, he didn't feel confident enough to meet with him alone.
"Okay, okay, go now, my friend needs to sleep."
Andrea patted Emanuele's shoulder. He, who was not very familiar with physical contact, tried to smile, but could only form a grimace. Andrea rolled her eyes, now she understood how those two had gotten so close.
She said goodbye to him, grabbed her drink and got lost in the crowd, shouting and dancing. Emanuele raised one of his eyebrows, it was still hard for him to understand how, a person as reserved and introverted as Luka, could be friends with someone as social and extroverted as Andrea.
...----------------...
Arriving at the hotel, Emanuele carried Luka to the room booked earlier. He turned on the light, and walked to the bed. It was a large, round bed, although the design surprised him a little, when he approached to leave Luka, the things on the bed surprised him even more. He was no saint, far from it, he knew perfectly well what those objects were used for, of course, that didn't stop him from feeling embarrassed.
He decided to ignore things, and place Luka on the other side of the bed, after removing his shoes and belt, he decided to remove the items from the bed and put them in the drawer next to him.
He was tired and sleepy, but he didn't want to make Luka uncomfortable by sleeping in the same bed with him. He grabbed a blanket and sat down in the recliner. He barely closed his eyes when the vibration of a cell phone made him open them again. He looked at Luka's cell phone, which he had left on the bureau earlier, it was responsible for that noise.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he decided to stand up and look at the call, perhaps it was his mother, who was worried about him. He walked to the bureau, however, by the time he reached and grabbed the cell phone, the call had been cut off. On the screen, the name "idiot boss" appeared. The cell phone vibrated again and he furrowed his eyebrows.
Luka had told him about his exhausting working hours and how demanding his boss was, but he never thought that even at that hour of the morning he would be calling him. He let the call go through, after all, Luka was drunk and couldn't answer in that state.
However, contrary to what he thought, the phone did not stop vibrating. The calls kept coming in one after another. Tired of the situation, he stepped into the shower and answered it.
"Hello," he greeted politely.
\Who are you and what are you doing with Luka's cell phone, forget it, put him through.
The authoritative and angry tone, made it clear to him that he was not in a good mood, however, Luka was in no condition to attend to anyone. Besides, he considered it wrong for him to call late at night. The fact that he was her boss did not give him the right to disturb her sleeping hours.
"Is it very important?"He questioned, on the other side, a loud clatter was heard, it was as if some glass had been broken.
\ [What the fuck do you care, if I tell you to get in touch with him you don't ask stupid questions, go to where he is and wake him up].
Emanuele forced himself to contain his words, the last thing he wanted was to cause problems for Luka.
"He's tired and he's asleep, I'm not going to wake him up unless it's urgent," Emanuele spoke with a serious tone.
There was a dreadful silence on the other end of the line. Several seconds passed before Leandro spoke again. And even though he had lowered his tone of voice, a cold tone could still be heard in his words.
"Are you together? Are you going to sleep in the same room?"
Although it was a somewhat personal question, he didn't hesitate to answer. "Yes, we're going to sleep together."
As soon as he finished speaking, a loud noise made him take the phone away from his ear, and a second later, the call had ended. Paying no attention, he returned to the room. He turned off the phone and sat back down. The couch was not especially uncomfortable, however, he still preferred to sleep in a bed.
The next morning, Luka accompanied Emanuele to the train station to return home after bidding farewell, he looked at the clock on his wrist, it was past nine and he was supposed to be at Leandro's house before that time. Feeling tired, he let out a frustrated sigh.
He got into a taxi and went straight to Leandro's house. It wasn't a busy hour, so the ride was very smooth. After getting out of the taxi, he walked towards the luxurious house, according to what Leandro had told him through a message, he was waiting for him there.
When he arrived, the house was surrounded by men dressed in camouflage clothing and military boots. He was surprised by the audacity with which they displayed high-caliber weapons at that time in the morning. Although the place was private, and there were few people, they still risked being seen by someone.
Luka rolled his eyes and kept walking, courteously greeting everyone and they returned the greeting. Upon entering the house, he saw Dylan, Alessandro, and Leandro gathered in the living room. The three had their weapons on the table and looked a bit nervous and agitated.
"Mr. Leandro, I apologize for being late," he apologized immediately. Leandro's eyes didn't even look at him, he just gestured with his hand for him to take a seat beside him.
Luka took two steps closer, but Luka's fierce look made him head towards the couch where Alessandro was sitting.
"Brother, what do you want me to do?" Leandro asked after a couple of seconds of silence. Luka looked at Leandro and then Alessandro, trying to understand what was happening.
"We'll stay on the sidelines, those idiots don't know who they're dealing with. For now, stay alert and keep an eye on everything, once we receive new information, we'll figure out how to find them and deal with them."
Luka furrowed his brows, a little confused. He had arrived late and saw men fully armed, now they were talking about staying alert, there was definitely trouble with a rival mafia.
"Alright," Dylan stood up and Leandro followed suit, Alessandro did the same. "I'll talk to my people. I'll go back to the United States and look into something with my informant at the DEA," he said. The two bosses nodded.
Having three mafia leaders there, in front of him, would make anyone shiver. He looked at Dylan, who looked arrogant and powerful, with a cold and superior gaze. Next to him, Leandro, with a threatening and cruel demeanor, they certainly seemed like a match made in heaven, or in hell. His eyes wandered to that pair, not reacting until a light tap on his shoulder startled him.
"What's up?" he asked, looking at Alessandro.
"I was asking about your brother, how is he? Does he live well alongside Vicenzo?" Luka didn't know whether to feel sorry for him or be happy that his brother was loved. Whenever they met, Alessandro never hesitated to ask about Elio, maybe he still held onto the hope of being with him.
"It's fine. His marriage is going perfectly, they even adopted a puppy," he replied. He felt bad saying that, but remembering Alessandro's words, it was better if he boasted a little about Elio's happiness.
Alessandro smiled, but barely— "Thank you," he murmured.
After patting him on the shoulder, he walked away. Luka let out a heavy sigh and slumped back on the sofa. Seeing Alessandro's downcast look made him very uncomfortable, because he knew that he, in part, was the cause of his suffering.
"Whose is it?" The sudden question made him immediately stand up. Leandro was leaning against a wall, looking at him coldly. He looked around, but didn't see Dylan, he had probably already left. "Luka, whose the hell is it?" Leandro's eyes narrowed and his face seemed like it wanted to spill blood.
"Of... of what are you talking about?" His eyebrows furrowed, showing confusion.
"Don't act like an idiot!" He shouted, making his skin crawl. "Whose the hell is the shirt you're wearing?" Leandro walked towards him, taking big steps, he reached out and grabbed his arm, while with his free hand, he grabbed Luka's shirt.
Since he didn't have any clothes, Emanuele had lent him one of his shirts, although it was a bit big on him. It was a light blue color, with a print of a cloud and a rainbow in the middle. He had accepted to wear it because he didn't want to wear the same shirt as the day before, he never thought that it would cause an outburst of anger in his boss.
