The Hidden Voice

Kyle's pov

"Ah!" I screamed, when I found out the time was fast passing. It was 12 midnight, I've been busy reading for my exam.

"I need to call it a day" I pondered in my mind, arranging my books in my bag.

I rushed to my bed to have a good night's rest and suddenly I heard a creepy sound with a heavy breeze flopping through the edge of my window swinging my cotton in different directions.

"What's going on?" I asked myself as I stared at my window like I was talking to someone.

This time the wind was extremely heavy hovering in my room. I rushed to close the window but was surprised when I saw my reflection on my window Glass calling out my name.

"Kyle!, Kyle!!, Kyle!!!."

It was terrifying seeing my reflection with blood in his mouth.

"Get behind me Demon, who're you"?.

I asked in my fear as I quickly picked up a knife pointing towards his direction.

"Stay back, don't come close or I'll kill you".

I thought I could easily chase my shadow while holding a knife, but the reverse was the case as he kept coming closer.

I screamed, threw the knife, ran to the cupboard and hid. The room became silent and the atmosphere was not enough to calm my nerves, although I felt relieved thinking it's over.

Few hours later, still in my cupboard fidgeting and sweating profusely anticipating for what's about to happen, suddenly I heard a knock on the door.

𝐵𝐴𝑁𝐺!! 𝐵𝐴𝑁𝐺!! 𝐵𝐴𝑁𝐺!!.....

"Open the door Kyle, It's me dear, Mummy is back".

I was skeptical when I heard the shallow voice.

"How could this be possible? My parents died when I was 6 years old" I was lost in thoughts.

"Could that be my Mom or her ghost? I don't think so but the voice looks exactly like her". I kept contemplating on what to do next.

A few minutes later, I summoned courage and walked to the entrance of my room to check who was at the door…

To my greatest surprise I was overwhelmed when I opened the door, what I saw became my everyday nightmare.

What could that be?. I asked but the guest in front of me responded.

"Hip, Hip, Hip, Hurray!" They both sounded in unison standing at the entrance of my house. “These are my friends, Nelly and Kelvin.” I said in my mind as they gave me some birthday gifts. It was indeed my birthday but the scary scene I encountered a few minutes ago couldn't make me remember.

I ushered them in, accepting their gifts as we intended to create a house party.

A house party?. I quickly paused for a moment to recheck the time, and was astonished when I discovered it was 2 a.m.

"What! How did you get in here at this time of the day?"

"We were invited". They muttered leaving me with a thought, In which I kept wondering why they sounded alike.

"Invited!, who, how?". I responded In a confusing tone trying to scan through my phone to figure out if I had sent a message as a reminder for my birthday.

While scanning through my phone Kelvin message popped In.

"Don't forget to study hard for your exam, I'll see you in school tomorrow".

"What's going on - - - - -" Before I could conclude my statement they both vanished in the air"

I ran to the bathroom, panting heavily. I never knew, I had been talking with a ghost thinking they were my friends.

I took my phone dialing my uncle's contact, to put a call through but there was no answer.

“I guess it's off”.

I wonder why he left me in his house without telling me the hidden skeleton in his cupboard.

“Does it mean my uncle is one of them, possibly part of the dark society?”.

My heart beats and my eyes keep scanning through the room waiting for what may happen soon.

I quickly ran to my bed. My fear couldn't make me sleep, so I looked through the window.

“Oh! It’s about to rain”. I placed my headset on my ears listening to music in order not to be disturbed by the crackling sound of thunder.

I decided to take a nap then I heard my phone blaring, Is Uncle Ben!, My uncle to be precise. I answered the call in anticipation.

“Hello, Kyle, how are you? I'm at the door kindly open”. He said as he hung the call.

“Could it be another trap to fall on” my heart kept panting, I slowly walked to the door, gently opening it to see my uncle standing by.

“Welcome back Uncle Ben, what took you so long”?. I said, giving him a hug.

“Nothing much Kyle, just needed to take some nap”. He paused for a while staring at my hand.

“What's it Uncle Ben?”.

“What're you doing with a knife?”.

“Oh! You mean this? Well I guess I'm with it for security reasons”.

“Security Reasons!!, And what are you guiding against?.

“Against life and property”.

“ And who is after such life and property?”.

He asked as I paused for a moment speaking gradually in a freaking way.

“I guess a ghost”.

“A ghost!, are you sure you're ok?”. His eyes widened in shock at my reply.

“Not possible! I can't harbor such monsters in my house”. He became upset thinking I'm going Insane.

I looked around the room, I was nervous thinking a scary noise would creep in. After much anticipation and nothing was yet to be revealed my uncle angrily instructed me to my room.

I went to my room feeling uncomfortable, Couldn't read any longer for my exam. I kept waiting for the dawn of the day so I could quickly get to school. But the more time I checked, the slower the time became. Suddenly I heard a Scream.

“Help!!!Help!!!Help!!!.”...

I jumped off the bed to hide beneath it. I tried to figure out the voice, but the more I listened the more terrified I become.
