Chapter 2: The Past

“… -ruto. Haruto? “.

I woke up cus of the doctor’s voice.

“Are u alright?”

“ y-yea yea. I’m fine. Just a bit exhausted I guess”

“Yea. You seemed a bit off. What day is today?”

“its 29 March, Monday right?”

“Hmm good . Looks like you are fine. Anyways, did u have something to do after this?”

“Yea I was thinking to visit the hospital.”

“ohh, okay. Also, I have something to give ur parents but I think that’ll be on ur way. Y don’t u come up later . And that will help me recollect something too , I mean talking to you I might get me something . Uk I’m growing old haha “

“ y-yea sure then. I’ll see you later “

I went out. It was really strange. I wonder if I’m alright. With this I went out of the clinic and headed towards the hospital.

The hospital was huge. Not much of people to wander around. It had a huge garden outside. That was the only thing which was beautiful. I went inside. To my surprise , the smell was nostalgic. There was a familiar scent. I sat on a chair.

Everything blacked out again.

I saw a girl same as of my age.( 7 years ago). she had a golden yellowish hair. And a huge red hair ribbon. Her eyes were light blue..

Aoi:- heeeeeey ? Are u even listening?

Me:-“ ohh yea yea say. “

“Im so excited to see it! I can’t wait”

“Well yea me too!”

“but we can’t see the meteor shower from here. It’s visible from my room”

“Lets go there “

I followed her. It was a huge room with large windows. The sky was clear up from here.

She looked a bit off and tired. I asked her.

Me:- “ hey aoi, u alright? U don’t look fine”

Aoi:- “ yes yes I’m fine. Don’t worry.

“ tell me if anything is wrong.”

“that’s kind of u but even so, there is nobody in this building right now.”

“maybe we can call them from those call buttons? But there are two of them. Blue and Red.”

“ yea, don’t worry it should be me who should look after you. So I’ll be the one pressing them”

I laughed and said

Me:-“ what is this a race? Anyways it should be the colour that u like”

Aoi:- “ well thats strange.. anyways I’m good now. Let’s just wait”

“Yea”

While waiting ,I didn’t realise that i slept. When I woke up. Aoi was lying on the ground. Her face looked red. I checked her temperature. She was warm. I could make out she had a fever. I rushed immediately and pressed the blue button.

Nurse on call:-“ yes?”

Me:- “ this is Haruto from second floor, building 2. Aoi isn’t well she has a high fever “

“Haruto! What are u doing there? We have been looking for u. Fine stay there the doctors are coming”

And then I went to check on her.

Me:- “ aoi!! Aoi! Get up. You  have a fever. I kee something was wrong”

Aoi:- “S-sorry Haruto. …Looks like we …can’t see the meteor shower…”

“don’t worrry about that. We’ll see it next time and now take rest I’ve called the nurse.”

“Which button did u press?”

“ the blue one”

“Ohh… but I liked the red one”

“next time it’s red then”

“ i-idoit , …n-next time it’ll be me who’ll press.....Next time huh?”

“… what’s wrong?”

“ Nothing. Flowers would be nice”

“ Flowers??”….

I woke up. Those were my memories. So the girl’s name was aoi. That is what I assume. Damn it ,I can’t remember anything more. I decided to ask the staffs and people around. It’s better to ask about Dr. Ichiri too. So I went around asking them. First was a nurse. Instead of answering she herself asked me whether I was a patient here. Next there were two people talking. I didn’t bother to ask them. But what I heard was that they were talking about some paranormal activities and their rumours in the hospital. I simply passed by. I asked few nurses but they seemed to be working since a few years only. I couldn’t find anybody who were here since 7 years. I went outside and saw a man painting the sign boards. I asked him too, but he didn’t say anything. Right next to it, was building 2. There was a staff outside. While asking her things, I saw a man with a hat and coat, he was walking to the entrance, and the painter had spilled some paint on his coat accidentally. So the staff I was talking to, rushed towards them to apologise. Quite a small disturbance. Failed to ask anything, I sat on the chair near an old man.

He had a small moustache And wore a hat.

Old man :- “ u r the kid asking around people right?”

Me:- “ y-yea. Did I make it so obvious?”

“ no no I was just watching u”

“ Well actually I was looking out for people who are here for a quite long time. I don’t remember anything about the past. There might have been some incident here”

“ accidents? Yes yes, u mean the Nishikata explosion?”

“Y-yes maybe that’s the thing”

“ well yea boy, I might look old ,but I was quite the journalist back then. I always believed the accidents were fishy up here. I firmly believe that it was no accident. After all many people died and the press didn’t release anything to the public. One day I’ll get to it’s bottom”

“ ohh! When did this happen?”

“ What are u at kid? It happened right here 7 years ago….”
