My Ten Goals

My Ten Goals

The Opening

"What do you want her name to be?" Asked the father of the new born, his face strawn with a permanent scowl, his voice was deep, and his pitch as clear as crystals. His two other children sat beside him as they gazed at their newest sibling with amazement.

"Becca..." The soft voice of the mother whispered, as if talking to her self.

"What was that Dear?"

"Becca... Becca show, yes, that is what i want to name her." She gazed at the child lovingly and held her tighter. Yes, she held Becca Show in her arms with a sense of protectiveness.

The father smiled at his wife, she had chosen a good name so it would seem. He stood up and flung his coat over his shoulder . He said.

"I'll be leaving now; Duty calls". He walked out of the hospital and headed straight for his car, he was there for the delivery of his third child, his task for the day was done. He drove off leaving not a trace of smoke. From his battery powered car.

"Your father is so busy, but don't you kids worry alright?"

"Yeah!" They chorused. She sighed heavily as she looked at the child in her arms. "Welcome to the world," she told her. Sitting on the comfortable hospital bed for a long time can make you very uncomfortable. She shifted her weight, to adjust her position, but she was still uncomfortable.

Becca had strands of black hair on her head, with rosy cheeks, when she lifted her eyelids, the room and everyone else in it was greeted with a pair of pitch black orbs. Yes there was nothing special about her looks. Nothing special. Nothing at all. Outside the room the nurses could hear the wailings of the child

"how long will it take for father to come home? It has been three years now since Becca was born, not a phone call, a letter or a message! What nonsense is this?! Baily does not even know where father is. or has he deserted us?!" In that instant, the oldest child of the Show family was slapped. She had said too much, she had gone too far with her words and she had hurt her mother. For when she looked up, her mother was in tears.

"Do not speak bad of your father . And do not ever say such things in my presence, how dare you?" The mother spoke, her voice coming on differently, she sounded like she was about to choke. A three years old Becca sat down on the floor with a plush teddy bear in hand as she looked at her mother cry and her elder sister walk out the front door. Baily, the second born of the family sat quietly, a loaf of bread on one hand and a cup of tea on the other. Her sister and mother normally had their squabbles at times, but her sister had gone too far. She never sided any one, she would never ever side anyone. Baily looked at becca who had her butt planted to the ground staring at her sternly. she could see a slight scowl on her face. and it irritated her for a split second.

"Don't stare at me like that." Baily said as she stood with her food and went over to her room.
