Sarah had always thought that her feelings for Jake were the strongest thing in the world. She had confessed to him, and even though he had rejected her, she had hoped that someday he would come around and feel the same way.

But as she spent more time with Alex, she started to realize that her feelings for Jake may not be as strong as she thought. She had always appreciated Alex's kindness and sense of humor, but she had never thought of him in a romantic way before.

Jake looked at her with a mixture of shock and sadness. "I see," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I guess I knew that this day would come eventually. I just didn't think it would happen so soon."

Sarah felt a pang of guilt, knowing that she had hurt Jake's feelings. But she also knew that she had to be honest with herself and with him. She couldn't keep pretending that she had feelings for him when she didn't.

"I'm sorry, Jake," she said, her voice soft. "I know this is hard for you to hear, but I have to be honest. I hope we can still be friends, though."

Jake nodded, looking relieved. "Of course we can, Sarah. You're one of my best friends, and I don't want to lose that. Let's just forget this ever happened, okay?"

Sarah nodded, feeling a sense of relief. She knew that it would be hard to move on, but she was determined to do so. She had found someone else who made her happy, and she was excited to see where their relationship would go.

As they continued their journey, Sarah and Alex grew closer and closer. They discovered new secrets, encountered new challenges, and supported each other through thick and thin.
