My Roommate Jay Merrick
Adam meticulously organized his belongings, ensuring every item found its designated spot. As he settled into his new living space, he realized a box had been left behind. Determined to complete his task, he retraced his steps to retrieve it. With the box finally in hand, Adam reclined on the sofa, savoring a moment of tranquility, exhaling deeply.
"His new roommate finally arrived, Jay! Adam exclaimed, “good to see you again, man!” Jay responded, slightly flustered, "It's nice to see you too!" Adam's mind lingered on the rules Jay had established for their shared living space."
Jay emphasized the importance of respecting each other's possessions, recognizing their sentimental or monetary value. He stressed the need to maintain a warm bathroom environment to prevent catching colds, keep the house surfaces clean to avoid visible dust accumulation, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere for everyone in the house to enjoy.
Jay added one final request, asking for noise consideration, mentioning his sensitivity. Adam reassured him, "Don't worry, I'm not a party person myself; I actually dislike parties." Jay appeared surprised initially but then grinned in response.
After Jay settled on the couch, a brief silence filled the room. Then, breaking the quietude, Jay inquired, "So, do you enjoy reading novels?"
Adam, slightly surprised, responded with a tentative "yeah." Jay responded with a warm smile, and for the next hour, they engaged in a conversation about novels.
After expressing their thoughts, they both noticed the lack of another topic to discuss, leading to another moment of quiet in the living room.
Adam, noticing a 2009 camera, grew curious and inquired, "Is that yours?" Jay responded with a hesitant "uh, well..." in a frozen manner, indicating some hesitation about sharing the contents of the camera.
Jay eventually opened up and admitted, "Yeah, it is mine, but... I don't want you to see what's inside. Some of the footage includes people I'm no longer friends with, and I don't want to expose them. I'm known in my friend group as the overthinker and overtalker."
After a brief silence, Jay asked, "Do you know what's a ferret?" Adam shook his head sideways, and Jay's eyes lit up with excitement.
Adam, intrigued by Jay's discussion about ferrets, showed interest as he had never heard about that animal before. Jay, sensing he might have been talking too much, apologized, saying, "I'm sorry I got a bit too excited."
Adam reassured Jay, saying it's fine as he was genuinely interested in seeing the animal. Adam even had a joke in his head about how Jay's name is similar to a blue jay but decided to keep it to himself to avoid potentially offending Jay.
Adam, being the kind man he is, decided to cover Jay up with a blanket after Jay fell asleep. Later, out of curiosity, Adam searched up Jay's full name, and what he discovered shocked him to the core - he saw a missing picture of Jay. This discovery made Adam start having second thoughts about moving in with him.
Adam was starting to have a crisis about Jay, but when Jay woke up, he didn't mention anything. During dinner, Adam held onto his fork and knife tightly, feeling the tension in the air.
Jay looked at him a bit confused but simply brushed it off, not wanting to escalate any tension between them.
Adam, a bit frightened to say something, mumbled out, "So how is your relationship with your family?" Jay responded, "I guess it's whatever. We all respect one another, zero tension. It's quite nice to eat with them on Fridays and Saturdays."
"jay: “now that I think of it would you like to come with me next week to their house I promise nobody's crazy there!”, Adam didn't know if Jay was messing around or being the genuine"
