The day passed by so quickly, we didn’t even notice the time—it was already night.

I spent the whole day learning how to make potions and planting the seeds we bought last night.

I’m back in the forest today, planning to go deeper than before.

Just like last time, I start by fighting slimes to warm up my body.

As I venture further, I spot a few ants.

They’re red, with three eyes, two sharp mandibles, and bodies as hard as steel.

I make sure to fight them one-on-one to avoid a dangerous situation. Fighting one is already hard—facing a group could be fatal.

I keep walking deeper.

Eventually, I try fighting two ants at once. If I can’t handle it, I’ll run.

Safety is always my priority.

But now—I’m surrounded.

Five ants.

The battle is getting harder by the minute. I can’t escape—they’ve encircled me.

My heart pounds, cold sweat runs down my back.

I need to clear my mind. Stay calm. Fight smart.

I manage to kill two.

Three left.

My body is covered in blood—wounds all over, even on my face.

And the potions my mother prepared?

All gone.

Now the remaining ants move into position—one in front, and one on each side.

I wait, focused, ready for the first to strike.

The one on the left makes the first move.

I throw my dagger at it—and activate my skill: Backstab.

(Backstab allows me to teleport behind the enemy when the dagger hits its back.)

I appear behind it in a flash and stab it straight through the back.

Critical hit.

It drops instantly.

The remaining two charge.

I hurl my dagger using Speed Throwing and dash forward.

As it lands into one of the ants, I pull it back and throw again—this time aiming for the eye of the injured one.

I throw my second dagger behind the other ant and activate Backstab again.

Teleport.

Strike.

I retrieve my other dagger and stab both into its back.

Chain Assassination activated.

(Chain Assassination triggers if I kill one enemy and use it again within five seconds—it turns me into a shadow-like form for one minute.)

I dash toward the final ant.

One clean strike to the eye.

It’s over.

My body collapses from exhaustion—

But someone catches me before I hit the ground.

I didn’t see who.

I’m Masumi Reiki.

I was searching for herbs in the forest when I heard a commotion nearby.

Curious, I followed the sound—and what I found left me speechless.

A white-haired girl was fighting ants—alone.

I was amazed by how she prioritized her safety over everything else. She was skilled—smart, fast, focused.

But then… she was surrounded. Five ants.

I wanted to help. I was ready to step in—

But she handled it with incredible grace.

Still, when I saw her body start to collapse, I couldn’t just stand there.

My feet moved on their own, and I caught her just in time.

She had passed out—probably from exhaustion.

I couldn’t leave her there, vulnerable.

So I carried her to safety.
