Chapter 4

I woke up very early this morning, cleaned up and prepare for school,

“baby, I was just about to come wake you up to prepare for school” mum said as she saw me walking down the stairs,

“good morning momma” I greeted her,

“morning darling, how was your night?” she asked,

“great” I replied,

“whoa, what a surprise, the princess is awake and for herself too?” my dad said with surprise and I and mum giggled,

“morning dad” I greeted, and I sat for a simple breakfast of cereals and began eating, halfway through my meal, I realized Xeric hasn’t come down for breakfast yet, that has never happened before, and I also didn’t see him yesterday I already slept off before he arrived I guess, so I decided to ask my parents about him,

“mom, what of Xeric?” I asked,

“he went to school already darling, he said he had something to do and didn’t want to disturb your beauty sleep” mom said, oh, I continued eating and when I was done, I packed my plates and stood up,

“darling, do you mind if we drop you at school” mom asked,

“nah, but aren’t you going to work?, I would just ask one of the drivers to drive me to school, or I drive myself”, I replied,

“no honey, your mom is going to the airport and your school is on its way” dad said,

“oh okay, I guess I can't refuse then” I replied and dad wore his coat with mum adjusting it for him, and we went out of the house together, at the entrance I saw Angelou,

“good morning to my favorite parent” Angelou greeted with a wide smile and mum embraced him,

“how are you Angie dearie” mom said with a wide smile and dad shook his hand,

“hey love” he greeted me,

“Yo Angie baby” I greeted back and we did our secret friendship handshake.

“What of your mum?” mum asked, she's… Angelou was about to say when:

“I am here Rosanne” Mrs. Davis said and walked towards us,

“oh Sonia” mum called and went to hug her,

“hi Edward” she said to dad as she stretched her hand for a handshake,

“how have you been doing Sonia?, it's been a while” dad replied and shook her hands,

“pearl darling, how are you?”,

“am fine ma, good morning”

“we should probably have a family dinner when we come back from our trip” mom suggested,

“that’s a great idea” dad said,

“yes, what of Xeric?” Mrs. Davis asked,

“he has gone to school” mom replied,

“okay parents, we need to go to school too” Angelou said. I ended up going to school with Angelou in his mom's car while his mom went with our car to the airport.

We got to school and I saw Xeric, he didn’t even talk to me, and we continued with our normal daily school routine, we were having English class when I saw Xeric massaging his head and I looked closer and noticed he looked so pale, and his eyes were blood shot, I couldn’t take it anymore, I leaned closer to him and whispered “are you okay?” I asked with concern,

“am okay” he replied dryly, and I gave him a questioning look,

“okay, okay am seriously fine, just tired” he said, and I breathed a sigh of relief, I really hope, so I thought,

“why did you leave without me?”

“I had something to do, and thanks for caring lil sis” he said as he flashed me an annoying smile and I glared at him, “idiot, am not your little sis am your twin you dummy” I grumbled with displeasure, and he chuckled at my reaction. I felt better to see him smile but not for long because Xeric started massaging his head again, he let out a groan, then he stood up and went directly out of the classroom without taking permission. “WHAT THE HELL!!!, I hope he's okay” I thought.

 Finally, school was over, and it was time to go home, I checked around for Xeric and couldn’t find, he hadn’t come back ever since he left the class the other time, “did he go home?, nah that’s not possible, Xeric will never leave me alone or at least he would drop a message, could something have happened to him?” I was still lost in thought, when I heard movements behind me,

“Angelou, come out now and stop playing hide and seek with me, am not in the mood” I said

“oh, come on, how do you know it's me” he whined,

“why are you still at school?” I asked,

“well I wanted to ask you that” he replied,

“I am looking for Xeric, have you seen him?” I asked again,

“nah, have you called him?” he asked back, oh why didn’t I ever thought of that, “thanks Angie, you are a lifesaver” I said and immediately fished out my phone from my pocket to dial Xeric’s number, no reply, uhn?, I dialed again, no reply, I dialed again and again and still no reply, I dialed our house line and asked if Xeric is at home, but the maid said he wasn’t.

“What the….” I ran to the parking lot with Angelou and saw that Xeric car was still there, the heck, that means Xeric was still at school, I ran to the school gate to look for the security, but the gate was locked, and they were nowhere to be found, that was when I realized that today was Friday, the school gate is always locked early today and the sun was already setting, I checked the time on my phone and WHAT! 6:00pm?, I started panicking, and I was covered in sweat before I knew it,

“hey Pearl, it's okay baby, calm down and don’t panic” Angelou said and grabbed my arm and turned me around so I could face him, I just nod my head,

“since we know Xeric is still in school, why don’t we just check the surveillance camera” he said again,

“but the security room would be locked already, and it will be hard to break in, or perhaps we could use the air vent” I said,

“no, we don’t need to do that, we just need to get a laptop from our locker and hack into the school surveillance system” he said, and I cupped his cheeks in my hands and kissed them

“you really are a lifesaver, baby, what would I ever do without you?” I asked with a smile,

“nothing, because I will always be there to do everything with you, come on princess, let's go find Xeric” he replied with a smile too and held my hands as we ran to his locker, he brought out his laptop, boot it, opened a file and plugged a U.S.B in, then he started hacking into the school security system, it was pretty tough as the school security was very tight but did I mention the fact that I and Angelou are master hackers, well Xeric taught us. Soon Angelou was able to hack into the school security and system and a lot of footage appeared on the screen, his hands moved rapidly on the keyboard as he typed some codes on the laptop before moving the cursor and clicking on a file and a footage of our classroom appeared, he fast-forwards it, we both checked from when Xeric left the classroom and found out that Xeric went to the washroom, Angelou typed another strings of code and the washroom footage of Xeric appeared, Xeric entered the washroom and washed his face and head with water, he looked so pale, he leaned against the wall for a while before staggering into one of the washroom cubicles and never came out, wait…what!, he never came out,

“Angelou, please check the cubicle camera” I said,

“they are no cameras in the washroom cubicle to give the students privacy while they do their thing” he replied, and I immediately ran out of the locker room and headed straight to the males washroom with Angelou behind me, I ran to the cubicle I saw Xeric entered and burst in immediately, what I saw almost made me collapsed. Xeric was lying on the floor unconscious and his clothes were ragged and torn, he looked so pale and lifeless, my heart skipped a beat as I walked towards him, I bent over him and felt his pulse and I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw that he still have a weak pulse, tears threatened to fall out of my eyes, but I fight it back in, I need to be strong, Angelou quickly carried him to the car while I went back to the locker room to get Angelou’s laptop from the table. I hacked into the school gate system and unlocked it while I was running back, by the time I got to the car the gate security has been disabled, I opened it, Angelou drove out, and I locked it back before entering the car where I enabled the gate security system, then we drove to the nearest hospital “Pearl-x hospital”. Angelou went in and in two minutes two nurses were running behind him with a stretcher, I washed them carry Xeric on it and followed them as they push it into the I.C.U, but I was stopped at the entrance and was not allowed to go in, I sat at the entrance of the I.C.U unit with a heavy heart and fold my legs together, while Angelou kept prancing about. Finally, the I.C.U light went out, and I immediately bolted up and ran for the door, the doctor came out and Angelou and I immediately asked about Xeric, “he is stable now, but he is still in a comatose state and I don’t know when he would wake up” the doctor replied, “what?” I exclaimed and grabbed the doctor's collar “aren’t you a doctor, you should be able to tell” I screamed at him losing all sense of rationality, but the doctor was just looking at me like I was a sick lunatic, well that totally pissed me off, so I decided to kiss his face with my fist, but before my hand could hit him. Angelou held my hands, turned me around and hugged me while also apologizing to the doctor. I totally needed that hug, I hugged him back tightly and let down all the tears I have been keeping.
