Chapter 7 - His Past

Today was the day of the invitation. Jimin, Myeong Jo and Jungkook got

in an expensive limo and they were driven far away from their Kingdom to

another one. The night fell upon them as they reached the bride's kingdom.

The three of them stood in front of the gates of

The Kingdom of Daegu. Myeong Jo was feeling a bit nervous. Well, she was the

queen and what if she messed up?

"Let's go." Jimin said and the three

of them were escorted inside the palace with security guards.

"Nervous?" Jimin asked Myeong Jo whose

hands were shaking terribly.

"What if I mess up, Jimin?" she

worriedly asked him.

Jimin smiled, "Don't worry, you won't.

Remember 3 things: Nod politely, smile brightly and do everything with

pride."

Myeong Jo understood as she nodded her head.

The doors of the royal dinning hall opened,

revealing The King Kim Hwang Joon and The Queen Lee Sae Ron, with bright

smiles.

"Presenting King Park Jimin, Queen Min

Myeong Jo and Prince Jeon Jungkook from The Kingdom of Busan." the

minister annouced.

"Welcome, My Lord!" King Hwang Joon

stepped forward and shook Jimin's hands. He looked at Myeong Jo and bowed

slightly, "It's an honor, Your Highness."

Myeong Jo bowed lightly too.

Jungkook bowed 90° to his future father-in-law.

He laughed and blessed him, "I'm very lucky to have such a handsome prince

for my daughter."

Queen Sae Ron approached to Myeong Jo and hugged

her formally. She hugged her back too. They shared formalities and then the

kings did.

"It's so kind of you to invite us."

Jimin's voice changed into a kingly strong voice which Myeong Jo found very

attractive.

"Of course, you are our future co-in-laws.

We must have a dinner party to celebrate our children's marriage." The

Queen stated happily.

All of them sat on the table and dinner was

served. Jungkook was looking here and there to find his future wife. He was too

fond of her.

"Where's Princess Ji Eun?" Myeong Jo

understanding Jungkook's desire, asked politely.

"Ah, she's getting ready. She'll be here

soon." The King Hwang Joon answered.

After some time, Princess Lee Ji Eun came

downstairs, looking formally gorgeous. Jungkook's eyes were fully on her. She

almost blushed but managed to hide it.

She bowed to all of them and sat down beside her

mother.

"Such a beautiful girl." Myeong Jo

gave a compliment as soon as she sat. She smiled shyly.

The dinner was going on smoothly with gentle

talks and about their arrangements on the wedding. Jungkook was eating but at

the same time, also peeking at his future wife with so much love and desire. Ji

Eun was always smiling like an idiot who fell in love at first sight.

"So, King Jimin, are you the guardian of

our Prince?" King Hwang Joon asked.

Jimin nodded, "Yes. That's right."

"May we ask about your parents? Please

don't be offended."

Jimin's spoon dropped on his plates. He closed his eyes and clenched

onto his fist. The whole dinning hall became quiet in a second.

"Hyung..." Jungkook whispered into his

ears.

Myeong Jo was surprised at Jimin's action.

"I'm sorry if I asked a wrong question. I

hope it isn't--" the king was about apologize when Jimin cut him off.

"No, no. You have a right to know. The

thing is.. our parents are no longer alive, so it is my top duty to raise my

little brother."

Myeong Jo kept staring at him. His parents were

dead?

"Ah, We're sorry. We didn't mean to hurt

you." The queen apologized softly.

The whole dinner, Myeong Jo only thought two

things. How did they die and how come she didn't know about it?

The dinner went well and it was time for them to

head back. The King and The Queen requested them to stay back as it was late so

Jimin decided they should stay back. They'll return in the morning.

The King arranged two rooms for them. One for

Jungkook and the other for Jimin and Myeong Jo. Little did they know, this

couple slept separately.

The room was quite big and the problem was it

had only one bed.

Myeong Jo looked at the bed then back to Jimin

and again at the bed then again back to him. Jimin was also confused about

their night.

"W-we--" Jimin stuttered.

"Have one bed." She finished the

sentence.

After 2 minutes of whole deadly silence, Jimin

offered, "I'll sleep on the couch. You sleep on the bed."

Myeong Jo furrowed her eyebrows, "Ani, you sleep on the bed and

I'll sleep on the sofa."

"Myeong Jo-ah, listen to me. Let me sleep

there."

"No, no. I can sleep on the couch. I don't have

backaches. You go sleep on the bed, Jimin."

After the couple argued with each other for 10

minutes straight...

"How about we both sleep on the bed?"

Jimin asked.

Her mouth dropped in surprise.

"A-are you crazy?" she mumbled.

"It's not like we'll do anything

so..."

Jimin did have a point. Myeong Jo had nothing to

do but to accept it. Knowing it would be so awkward to sleep, yet she agreed.

So both of them laid down side by side on the

bed, distance between them more than 26cm. Both of them facing the ceiling,

confused and scared if the other partner ended up doing something.

And eventually both of them fell asleep, their

intentions succeeding.

-------------------

Coming back to their Kingdom, all three of them felt tired as they

traveled a long journey so they went to take rest in each room.

At night, Myeong Jo was reading the diary of the

real wife.

"Entry 22:

I don't understand his problem. Why can't he

tell me? We promised not to hide anything from each other. Yet why can't he

tell me about his parents? I want to know how they died and why. I have a right

to know as his wife. Then why? Why does he say that he won't tell me?"

Suddenly Jimin knocked and came inside her room.

Myeong Jo sat upright, smiling at him. He hesitantly sat on the bed and circled

his fingers on the bedsheet.

"Did you have dinner?" She asked.

He nodded.

Something was going on his mind.

"Is something wrong, Jimin?"

Jimin looked at her and smiled, "Why will

anything be wrong when you are in front of me?"

Myeong Jo bit her lips and blushed for a short

time. Her heart inside was yearning for his romantic words very much.

All on a sudden, Jimin slowly hopped on the bed

and laid his head down on her lap, closing his eyes.

Myeong Jo at the same time, flustered and

delighted, had a huge smile on her lips.

She wanted this. Love was all she wanted.

She put the diary aside and stroke his white

hair softly. He cooed like a baby and wiggled into her warm lap more.

Jimin in his mind, was wanting more. He wanted

to sleep with her. No, not that intention! He just wanted to cuddle with her.

Because during the past times, he and her (real wife) used to cuddle every

night and fall into sleep together. Except for some nights where they....

But he knew Myeong Jo needed more time, more

space. She lost her memory yet she was trying her best to stay with him all the

time. He knew she also loved him but she couldn't open up to him yet. So he was

keeping distance as much as possible.

While stroking his hair, she was thinking about

his parents. Should she ask him? She shouldn't. It will hurt him more. But the

curiosity inside her stomach won't stop rumbling.

"Jimin?"

"Hmm?" he hummed in response.

"Can I ask you a question?"

He nodded his head, eyes still closed.

"H-how did your parents die?"

Jimin's eyes shot open. Myeong Jo knew she

shouldn't had asked this. Her hand stopped moving, seeing his reaction. Jimin

slowly raised his head from her lap and sat upright. She noticed his face had a

sad expression, his hands clenching the bedsheets.

"J-Jimin?" she mumbled his name.

He closed his eyes and sighed deeply.

"I-I can't tell you about it."

Myeong Jo furrowed her eyebrows, "Why

not?"

He sighed again, this time a bit upset.

"I can't." he firmly said again.

"T-then...you can tell me some other

time." she still asked politely.

Jimin out of anger banged on the bed, "I

said I can't tell you! Not now or ever!"

Myeong Jo was surprised to see him raging like

that. He sighed again and got up from the bed, getting ready to leave.

"Jimin-ah--" she whimpered his name.

But he ignored her and left the room, slamming

the door shut.

The next morning, he didn't come to see her. He

was avoiding her again. Myeong Jo tried to talk to him but it was in vain. He

wouldn't look at her, forget about talking.

Myeong Jo had nothing to do except for staying

in her room all day, upset and sad. When it was about noon, suddenly she

thought that someone else could tell her about his parents.

She went directly towards Jungkook's room and

opened the door. She found him still sleeping, beside the bed on the floor (he

fell down) and snoring loudly.

"Yah, Jungkook! Wake up! How can you sleep

this much!?" she was flustered to see him and now waking him up.

"Noona...five more....hours--" he

groaned in his sleep.

"Not even a second. Now get up! I have

something to ask you." she began cleaning his bed.

Jungkook slowly sat upright and hung his head

down lower, sleeping.

Myeong Jo frowned and held his shoulders to make

him stand.

"Go wash yourself!" she pushed him to

the washroom. Jungkook made his way to the washroom, eyes still closed.

Meanwhile she cleaned his room here and there

and sat on the couch, waiting for him. Jungkook came outside after a second.

He sat in front of her, a glass table between them.

He was wiping his face with a towel and suddenly raised his eyebrows.

"Did I sleep on the floor?" he asked.

"That's how I found you." she replied.

He groaned as he was embarrassed, hid his face

behind the towel.

"Jungkook, I wanna know what happened to

both of your parents. I have a right to know but your brother won't tell

me." She insisted.

Jungkook took a long moment then answered,

"Whose parents? Mine or Jimin hyung's?"

Myeong Jo's mouth dropped. Her eyes became

wider.

They had different parents?

"W-what?"

"We are step-brothers. It doesn't look

like. We never treated each other like that."

Myeong Jo got more interested into his words.

"So what happened?"

Jungkook sighed.

"To be honest, he was adopted."

"Before I was born, my mother found him,

inside a basket, floating in the river. She was surprised to hear baby cries

and she tried to take it. And then she found him."

"A lost, weak, hungry, wounded baby. He had

dust scars in his body and his legs had bloody scratches. Eomma was so shocked

to find a baby alone like this."

"She took him to the kingdom and discussed

the matter with Abeoji. Abeoji said the baby may was from a poor family. That

time, a war was going on. So Abeoji had a guess some poor family gave their

child away in order to save him from enemies."

"They decided to adopt that cute son."

Myeong Jo nodded slowly, "So?"

Jungkook gulped.

"Until I was born."

She widened her eyes and raised her eyebrows.

"After I was born, my parents used to

pamper me all the time. Leaving Jimin Hyung alone. Hyung never envied me. He

just wanted a bit of love too."

He sighed deeply, "One day, he asked Abeoji

if there was anything wrong in him. Abeoji said in a rage he was not their son.

They pitied you so he is lucky to be here."

"That day Hyung got to know that he was

actually adopted and his parents were someone else. He was really upset that

all his life, they lied to him and didn't love him that much. He couldn't even

protest as he had no right to call them his own."

Myeong Jo gulped down her throat. His past story

was exactly similar to hers right now. Even she was lying to him and she

couldn't call him as her own.

"So all on a sudden, one day, my parents

died in a battle and stuffs happened then Hyung became King and end of

story." Jungkook stood up and went over to his mirror to look at himself.

"Then why does he get sensitive if someone

mentions about his parents?" she asked.

"Because parents mean those who love you.

The word Parents make him confused as to whom should he call as his own. The

ones who left him or the ones who raised him even though they didn't love

him." Jungkook replied, combing his messy hair.

-----------------

Jimin was returning to his own room at night. After avoiding her all

day, he felt really bad. He really wanted to hug her when she kept approaching

towards him. But he was so mad at the point everyone kept asking him about his

parents. He didn't even know if he ever had them. He was just so frustrated

about it that he didn't feel like talking to anyone.

When he entered his room, switched on the light,

he saw a big surprise.

Myeong Jo was sitting at the edge of his bed,

swinging her feet back and forth.

She looked at him, not knowing how she should

start the conversation.

Jimin was at the same time happy that his wife

cared for him and was also irritated by her presence.

"What are you doing here?" Jimin asked

coldly.

Myeong Jo stood up, her hands touching each

other, "J-Jimin..."

"I can't talk now. I'm tired." he made

his way to the bed and laid down, his back facing her. Of course, he didn't

want to do that. He was just too depressed about what happened. He didn't want

to face her as he still didn't answer her question.

He crossed his arms and forcefully closed his

eyes, waiting for her to leave.

Myeong Jo sighed heavily. Instead of leaving,

she slowly sat on the bed beside him.

Jimin was quite shocked to feel her presence

beside him.

She moved her hand towards his head, gently

stroking his hair. Jimin's grudge immediately vanished into thin air. His

wife's touch could make him melt even in a cold weather.

He turned his head towards her, wanting to know

her intention behind it.

She didn't answer or stop what she was doing.

Instead, she laid down beside him, softly taking him closer to her chest,

laying his head down over her chest.

Jimin was so surprised to her actions. He didn't

know what she was doing or even thinking. He in her arms on a bed was something

he never dreamed. His eyes were getting bigger.

She began playing with his white hair, stroking

down his head slowly. He hesitated first but eventually wrapped his arms around

her torso, closing his eyes.

"Jimin..." she uttered in the silence.

Jimin didn't answer but he was waiting to hear

her.

"I-I'm sorry...for asking...you about

your--" she stopped.

Jimin realized she was still on it.

"I heard everything from Jungkook."

That sentence made him shook in place. S-she

knew?

He opened his eyes and couldn't control the

tears coming out.

"It's okay, Jimin. Cry if you want. I'm

here." those words were enough.

He bursted into sobbing and wiggled into her

body more to hide his crying face. He began sobbing painfully, holding onto her

silk blue night dress. Myeong Jo wanted to cry too. She couldn't bear to see

him weeping like that. She hugged him more tightly.

"Why?"

Was the first thing he said while crying.

"Why did they do this? Why leave me? Why

not love me when they took me in?"

His words were mixed with sorrow and anger.

Myeong Jo heard each word right.

"Jimin-ah., sometimes people...aren't who

you are really thinking them to be." she stuttered her own words as she

recalled her brother.

"Do not care about those people who don't

love you. Rather care for those who wants your happiness before them." she

sweetly whispered into his ears.

Jimin's sobs disappeared slowly. His cries

stopped.

Myeong Jo laid her head over his.

"Go to sleep, honey."

And like that, Jimin drifted into sleep as he

snored slightly.

Myeong Jo slowly got up from the bed and pulled

the blanket over him. She smiled at him, "I love you." and then she

went back to her room.

There was no way she was gonna sleep with him.
