Myeong Jo
walked back to her room. You know the feeling when someone gives you a toy to
play with and then says it's temporary. Just that feeling was going on inside
her head. In one word, hurt and broken.
She laid down on the bed, tugging herself inside the blanket. She tried her
best to hold on the tears. Her heart was broken. Not because Jimin was not
hers, not because she couldn't stay here forever, not because she couldn't be
his wife. Because she had to go back to that hell painful life. The same old
life which she wanted to end yet she had go to back to that life.
She was thinking it would had been better if the comet didn't grant her wish.
She would've been dead by now. She wouldn't had to stay alive to return to that
life, that very life she wanted to end. She missed her brother. Knowing he
thought her as a burden, yet she still missed him. After all, he raised her.
Myeong Jo hugged the pillow beside her tightly. She could really use some
consolation now. But she didn't have anyone. She thought to herself, "I
must tell Jimin tomorrow morning. I must do it. He has to know I am not his
wife."
Speaking of which, what could've happened to the real wife? Where was she right
now?
------------
"Wakey,
wakey..."
A sweet voice rang inside her ears. She opened her eyes slowly. At first, it
was blurry then when it was clear, it was him. Park Jimin.
"Good morning, darling. Let's wake up now, shall we?" he had a huge
smile on his face and pulled the blanket away.
Myeong Jo kept her eyes on him as she sat upright, her hair messed like a bird
nest. Jimin chuckled at her messy hair and ruffled it more.
"So cute." He grinned with his teeth.
Myeong Jo recalled everything from yesterday. She had to tell everything to
him.
"Jimin-ssi, t-there's something I must tell you." She slowly uttered.
"Okay, but first, I'm cooking breakfast. So get up, shower and come
downstairs." He sat closer to her and kissed her forehead. Then he got
away from her.
Myeong Jo's eyes widened as big as ever. She stared at him with her mouth
slightly open, surprised. Her heart was beating fast as ever.
"What? I can't do that to my wife?" Jimin chuckled at her.
Myeong Jo's cheeks flushed red, "N-no. B-but...you can't just--"
Jimin cut her off, "I can't keep myself away from you. I want to be with
you all the time." He pouted his lips like a kid.
Myeong Jo blinked her eyes repeatedly at his action. He chuckled at her again
and went out of the room.
After a
while, Myeong Jo came to the royal dinning table. Usually the maids used to
serve her. Today there was no maids at all. Surprised, she sat on a chair. The
table was empty too.
She waited and after some time, the smell of hot breakfast flew under her nose.
She immediately understood what was being cooked.
Then she saw a Jimin in a chef outfit, coming towards her with plates of
breakfast in his hands like a professional. He even added a fake moustache
under his nose.
Myeong Jo was at first surprised to see him like this. He placed the delicious
food in front of her and began giving a lecture in French accent, "Good
morning, Mademoiselle. Chef Jimin has prepared your favorite food all by
himself."
She pressed her lips into a thin line; trying not to laugh.
"You are allowed to laugh, Mademoiselle." Jimin spoke and Myeong Jo
burst into laughter. His face was too funny to bear.
"Oh God! What have you done to your face?" She said in between her
laughs.
"Ah, I just added a bit of moustache and a spoonful of handsomeness also a
pinch of romance into this face. That's why this face looks so handsome,
right?"
She kept laughing at his ridiculous face.
"Well, Mademoiselle, enjoy the meal made by Chief Park Jimin. I shall go
and tell the King that breakfast is ready." Saying he ran off to the
kitchen and removed all of his outfits and moustache. He was happy that at
least he made her laugh again like the old days.
He came back to the dinning table as his normal way and sat in front of her.
Myeong Jo was smiling at him.
"I
see Chief Park Jimin prepared breakfast. And trust me, he's the best chief in
the whole kingdom." Jimin began eating his own food.
Myeong Jo ate one bite. Jimin was staring at her, wanting to know how it was.
She knew he was looking at her but she deliberately didn't give him an answer.
Actually she was teasing him.
"I always like Chief Park's meals. He has a unique way to cook food."
Jimin was trying to know her opinion.
She hummed in response.
"In fact everyone loves his meal. Ah, I'm really proud of his cooking
skill. I wish I could cook like him. At least you would tell me how it tasted."
He was repeatedly trying to give a hint.
But she seemed to eat it quietly and not talking at all.
"Yah! It isn't that good?" He finally asked her, losing his patience.
Myeong Jo looked at him, "No, it is."
"Then why aren't you telling me?" he questioned her cutely.
"Do I have to?" she avoided his
question and kept eating.
"Of course! It's like a rule to tell the
cook about how the food tastes. Otherwise he won't know if it was actually good
or not."
"But you just told me everyone likes Chief
Park's meals." She muttered in a teasing tone.
Jimin licked his lower lips and got more
interested into their couple fight, "But Chief Park would be more happy if
The Queen tells him that his meal was tasty."
"Okay. If I meet Chief Park, I will tell
him the breakfast is really delicious and it was well cooked." She also
didn't stop their couple fight.
Both of them were enjoying it.
"But Chief Jimin is sitting right in front
of you. Shouldn't you at least say thank you?" Jimin asked.
Myeong Jo stopped eating and looked at him,
"Well, I don't see any Chief Jimin here. I only see The King."
Jimin furrowed his eyebrows, "Nothing
else?"
She shook her head.
"Are you sure?" he asked again.
Myeong Jo got the hint. She knew he was trying
to make her say the word Husband. Well she had no right to call him that. She
felt uncomfortable suddenly, so to avoid the situation, she suddenly stood up
and left the dinning hall, leaving him surprised at her action.
She stood in the balcony, arms crossed over her
chest. Jimin tiptoed his way to her. He stood right behind her, unable to say
what he wants.
"H-hey, Myeong Jo-ah...Sorry. I-I didn't
want to..." He stuttered his words.
Myeong Jo was in a compact situation. Jimin
deserved to do that with his wife. But not with her. She was not his wife.
Calling her his wife and her calling him her husband was wrong.
"I-I'm sorry. I forgot you need more time.
I just--" he mumbled, trying to apologize.
She turned towards him, sighing. "Jimin,
there's something I must tell you."
"I know, I know! And I don't blame you. I
know you want time and space from me since you don't remember me. But I just
can't stay away from you. I miss you."
Jimin's sweet words were enough to melt anyone. Myeong Jo stared at him,
confused what to say.
"We used to have so much fun. So much love.
All of them suddenly vanishing, it's surprising for me. I want you to remember
me. And I will do everything for you to do that. For that, you have to give me
permission." He said firmly.
"P-permission?" She asked.
"Allow me to be your husband."
Her mouth dropped to surprise. That's the least
thing she wanted.
"Or at least, let us continue our lives
like we used to. Forgetting our past, let us start a new beginning. You and
me." He began stepping towards her.
Myeong Jo, getting more surprised at his steps
towards her, made her steps backwards slowly too. Her back touched the railing
of the balcony. Jimin stood right in front of her, staring at her eyes without
missing a single second.
"We were married, we are married. I know
you can't remember. But for that reason, am I not allowed to treat you as my
wife? Can't I talk to you like a husband does? Just because y-you don't
recall?" Jimin asked, his eyes twitching.
She didn't know what to say. He was right in
every way. But only she knew that couldn't happen. She was not his wife.
"I'm your husband, Myeong Jo. Stop behaving
I am not. You not remembering me hurts me already. Now if you keep avoiding me,
it will just kill me!" he suddenly yelled at her.
She shook at his words. Of course, he was right.
He was totally right. But how could she tell him that he was wrong?
He backed away from her and walked away in a bad
mood.
-------------
The whole day Jimin avoided Myeong Jo. And trust me, she was feeling way
too guilty. I mean every word of Jimin was right. But only she knew it wasn't
right. She couldn't go around having him as her husband. But if she was gotta
stay here for 149 days, she had to blend in.
Jimin would had avoided her even at night but
unfortunately he had to come see her as the doctor came to check on Myeong Jo.
For weekly check ups.
She was currently on the bed, the doctor beside
her checking her eyes and stuff while King Jimin was just standing, leaning
against the window. Myeong Jo was often peaking at him but he wasn't even
sparing her a single glance.
"Well, it seems Your Highness is not as
weak as she was before. Any improvements on her recollection?" the doctor
eyed Jimin.
Surprised by his sudden eye notice, Jimin got
shook and stuttered his words.
Myeong Jo cut him off by saying, "Uh,
Doctor, I'm doing good. And I've been reading my diary which I hope will
probably make my memories come back."
The doctor sighed a little, "Your Highness
is in need of proper care. If the subject of your Kingdom hears about her
condition, that may not be the right thing."
"I know, Doctor. I'll keep that in
mind." Jimin assured the doctor.
The doctor bowed at both of them and left with a
guard.
The room filled with silence as soon as the
doctor left the room. Myeong Jo really wanted to break his anger. She wanted to
talk to him. Jimin sighed a bit, came close to the bed and tugged her inside
the blanket. Then without wishing her good night, he was about to leave.
But Myeong Jo held his wrist to stop him. Jimin
looked back at her touch, surprised to her sudden hold. He looked at her;
widening his eyes.
"Jimin?" Myeong Jo for the first time
called him by his name. Other times she would call him with respect. Now she
just called him casually. Which made Jimin as shocked as ever.
"I-I am sorry." she said, lowering her head.
"I-I know...you are very upset with
me...for my stupid actions. I should be trying to take you and this Kingdom
seriously. While I'm just playing around like a free girl." She chuckled
slightly.
Jimin was listening to every word of hers
carefully, with his widened eyes.
"You are right. You have every right to
treat me like your wife. And I, though may not remember anything, should give
you the chance and also treat you like my h-husband." She stuttered as she
looked at him.
"So let me apologize to you. I hurt you
unknowingly and knowingly. And in this unknown world, you are the only one
there for me. If you keep being mad at me, I will just be lost. Lost in
minds."
"Sorry. Please forgive me." She pouted
her lips a little and lowered her eyes from him.
Her grip on his wrist was still tightened.
Suddenly she felt herself into someone's warm embrace. Within a second, he was
there, sitting beside her and hugging her like a teddy bear.
She knew she shouldn't do this yet she held him
back too slowly. She meant every word truly but at the same time, she felt
guilty for the real wife.
Jimin stroke her hair slightly, letting her feel
so comfortable. She wiggled into his chest more, holding him tightly. No one
hugged her ever like this. She realized this was what a hug is. A hug was where
you feel like someone was protecting you from all good and bad things of the
whole universe. Someone who wanted you to be loved and never be away from him.
"Sleep well, Jagi." He kissed her on
her forehead.
He slowly got away from her, tugging herself
again inside the blanket and putting the pillows beside her in case she fell
down like a kid. He flashed a beautiful smile at her which made Myeong Jo
immediately feeling happiness.
And then he left the room. She drifted into
sleep peacefully thinking about his smile.
The next morning, she was swinging herself in
the swing inside their large beautiful garden. The birds were singing melodic
tunes. And the leaves rustling as if winds were welcoming them.
She was closing her eyes, feeling the beauty of
nature. Jimin walked to her and sat beside her without her knowing. He was
thinking a way to surprise his silly wife. Suddenly he pecked her cheek and got
away like an innocent child.
Myeong Jo flushed open her eyes and looked to
her left to find her husband sitting with a cheesy smile. Her cheeks turned
into red roses so she palmed her cheeks to cover it. She cleared her throat and
looked away, her heart beating like crazy.
"Wae? My wife is shy-shy?" Jimin asked
innocently.
"No! I was feeling...h-hot." She
hand-fanned herself in a fast pace.
Jimin chuckled, "You don't probably
remember my younger brother, do you?"
She looked at him, "No. But I know him. I
read about him in my diary."
"His wedding is coming soon."
Myeong Jo's eyes widened in joy, "Jinjja?
Wow! That's great!"
He smiled, "Yeah. It was already fixed
before you know...you lost your memory."
She gulped down her throat.
"But don't worry. I didn't tell you about
his wedding either. So you won't know it anyway." He chuckled at her.
Myeong Jo felt relief as she released a loud
phew.
"There's a family gathering in three days.
The bride's family arranged it. So you, I and Jungkook need to go to their
castle as they invited us." Jimin said now swinging his legs back and
forth too.
Myeong Jo fell into a deep thought. She fell
into silence as she was thinking something deeply. Jimin noticed her sudden
silence so he asked her, "What's wrong?"
She looked at him and decided to tell him. She
could trust him.
"But I don't actually remember any rules of
being a Queen or stuff."
He tilted his neck to the right as he failed to
get her point.
"I mean how to behave, rule, and speak like
a Queen. I don't remember at all." She felt guilty as she said.
"Oh. Now that's a problem." He
mumbled.
He held her shoulders, "Don't worry. I'll
teach you how to be a queen."
"Really?" She asked with a faint
smile.
He nodded with a wide smile.
"Look, I know you told me you'll teach me
how to be a Queen. But that doesn't mean I will have to learn how to
fight!" Myeong Jo objected as soon as their training for how to be a Queen
began.
She was holding a sword with both hands. Well
barely holding as she found it heavy. Her hands were shaking like a vibrator.
"Myeong Jo, you have to learn how to defend
yourself. For that you need to know archery, gun shooting, horse riding along
with sword fighting." Jimin pulled out a sword for his own.
"That many? B-but...How am I supposed to
learn them?! "
He looked at her, "You already were skilled
in everything. It won't take you that long to learn. The fighting skill will
eventually come back into you."
Only if he knew that this Myeong Jo had never
even seen a sword, forget about skill in fighting.
She gulped in fear and tried to hold the sword
up with all her strength.
"Let's begin." He spoke as he lifted
his sword easily.
After two hours of teaching basic sword
fighting, Myeong Jo actually felt really good. In fact, she learned it so
quickly that she was finding it very amusing. Jimin was being proud of his wife
to see her learning so fast. Myeong Jo was given a basic training on sword fighting
and during the practice trial, she even defeated Jimin.
Their lesson was over so they sat on the floor,
sweating and drinking water. Fortunately, no guards were there. So the couple
was enjoying their times.
"That was fun." Myeong Jo said.
He nodded, "I knew you would learn
quickly."
She crawled slowly towards him and sat closer.
"But tell me. Was I a really good fighter?"
"Of course! You were known to be as a great
queen with fighting and defence skills. You even fought with me in a battle
last year." he said the last part, smirking.
"Daebak! I can't believe it." Myeong
Jo smiled nervously. Surely it wasn't her who fought.
"Let's go somewhere!" Jimin suggested
with a smile.
"Where?"
"Carriage Riding."
