Peter got up from his desk and approached her slowly, Marian turned pale, she didn't expect to have him so close.
"First of all, you did everything in your power to make me marry you, then you simply left for four years and now you reappear disturbing my life, do you think I'm going to let you go so easily?" she took a step back to get away from him
"I… I don't understand you" she replied
"You want a divorce? Then you must earn the fact that I can think about reaching an agreement with you" he stared into her eyes
She finally understood each of his words, causing Marian's anger to flare up, initially he was against marrying her, so he always cheated on her, was with other women and almost never came home, he even asked her for a divorce and the moment she wanted to separate from him, the blame would fall on her.
"What do you want, Peter?" she took a step and for the first time in her life faced him
"Who spent every night away from home? Do you remember how many women you slept with while we"lived together"? Do you really think I'm not worthy of something?" those words had hurt her and reminded her of when he had given her the pills
If she had known that he loved Sara, she would never have told Ivan, Peter's father, that she was in love with him, much less would she have agreed to marry him.
While Marian confronted him, Peter's face was cold and without any feeling, she knew that what she was doing would not generate any effect, but she needed to finally say a few things to his face.
"Wouldn't it be better for you to be a single man? That way you could be happy with the woman you love" after that neither of them spoke
"Do you think I care about anything you've said?" he replied without taking his eyes off her
"Of course not! While you were with me you were always surrounded by beautiful women and in each of your nights there was always someone to warm your bed" she tried to sound calm, but it was impossible
"Peter, can I come in?" at the moment when the conversation was getting more uncomfortable, Sara Edwards arrived
Marian turned around and saw her standing there, she noticed that she was wearing the company uniform and ID, in other words, she worked there, that meant that he looked for her after she left, so thinking about this she just let out a soft laugh and shook her head.
"Marian, when did you come back?" Sara looked at them and noticed that she had arrived at a bad time, although she couldn't turn back
"A few days ago" she replied, moving away from Peter
"So long without seeing each other, today I'm going to have lunch with Peter, we could go out all three and chat a little" Marian couldn't believe what she was hearing
"Don't misunderstand our relationship, I'm Peter's colleague, I'm working here in the company, in the administration department" she spoke in such a calm way that Marian wanted to run out of there
"I'm not here for a courtesy visit, we are dealing with something that interests both of us and nothing else" Marian's words were cold
"Don't worry, I'll wait outside for you to finish and don't forget our dinner, I don't want you to have stomach problems again" she said goodbye and left the office
"Apparently I've always been wrong, years ago your father made you marry me threatening to leave everything to charities if you didn't and I know you hated me deeply for that, but after I gave you the divorce papers signed you didn't sign them just because I was the one who took the first step and now you work next to your beloved Sara, you have had her by your side who knows how long and not even for the love you have for her have you processed the divorce, I always thought you loved her, but now I realize that what you really love is money and against that there is no way to fight, you are really a selfish man and I'm glad I left your side four years ago" Marian's words angered Peter
"You're being abusive, Marian" out of anger he hit the wall behind her
"This is over, Peter" she looked him directly in the eyes ignoring the fact that that blow could have been for her
She had met him 13 years ago on a summer afternoon when she was 13 years old and her parents had died in an accident, Peter's father had taken her to his house and that's when she met him, when he was only 17 years old.
The first time she saw him he was in the garden of the house and he was wearing jeans together with a white shirt, his hair was a little long and the breeze stirred it gently, his face was beautiful, he looked like a prince from fairy tales and when she saw him she felt that spark in her heart.
Years later Ivan had called her to his study to ask her if she liked his son and she told him yes with a little shyness, it was the first time she told someone that she had feelings for Peter and she found out that his father had forced him to marry her after the wedding.
That same day she found out that he loved Sara and realized that her marriage had been a terrible mistake.
"If you don't want to sign the divorce then don't, but I hope you don't regret it later" she told him looking him straight in the eyes
Marian turned around and left the office with a determined step, while Peter watched her leave he felt like he was running out of breath and saw Sara enter.
"Peter" she called him softly and took his hand
"Go to your post, I don't want to talk to anyone now" he told her, letting go of her grip
"She has returned, why don't you try to fix things?" Sara had known Peter all her life and had never seen him lose his patience
That man was tranquility made human, he always had a rigid and cold attitude, but Marian's presence definitely made him nervous.
That woman was the only one who made Peter show some kind of feeling or emotion and that made Sara envy her, the worst thing was that he hadn't realized the feelings he had for her.
"There's nothing to fix" he replied
"Then I imagine you won't miss your promise to have dinner with me today" he accepted the idea, he wouldn't let Marian change his life for having appeared
