Episode 8

Naina arrived at her apartment as the clock struck 8 p.m. She decided to take another shower and spritz her body with a light-scented body mist. This kind of mist was less overpowering than perfume, absorbing quickly and leaving her feeling refreshed.

She selected one of the evening dresses she had bought earlier - a maroon gown with a low neckline that revealed a generous portion of her ample bust.

Despite her shyness, Naina steeled herself. Only Doctor Nickolas had the power to make her feel so nervous, unlike her past clients.

Naina neatly tied her hair back into a high ponytail, added a touch of lipstick, and applied a minimal makeup look.

In this attire, Naina truly appeared transformed. It was as if she were playing an entirely different person named Laura.

'When you come home, just ring the bell, okay, don't walk straight in. I'll open the door for you,' Naina texted her husband.

She received no reply, but the message showed it had been read.

When the apartment bell rang at 9 p.m., Naina's smile broke out and she hurried to the door.

Outside, Nickolas shook his head affectionately – only for Naina did he ring the bell like a guest in his own home, when he could have simply let himself in.

But that didn't matter - he imagined Naina was setting up a surprise. And soon after, she opened the door to reveal herself, as the new inhabitant of the apartment.

"Darling," Naina cooed flirtatiously, pulling Doctor Nickolas inside.

They looked for all the world like any other married couple.

In addition to luring Doctor Nickolas into the apartment, Naina took his work bag from him, serving him like a true wife.

"You must be tired, Doc. Go straight to the shower, I've readied some hot water. Would you like some company?" Naina offered enthusiastically with every word.

"I showered at the hospital, I just need to change clothes."

"At the hospital?"

"Yes, I have a personal room there where I can rest."

Naina gaped, clearly impressed.

"Do you want to see it?" Nickolas asked, as they sat together in the living room.

"Really? I thought hospitals required professionalism."

"You could come as a patient's guardian," Nickolas explained, but his words made Naina think of her mother.

"Doc," Naina called out with a hint of gravitas in her voice.

"Yes, what is it?"

"We can't rush things, we need to go slow," Naina said.

"I know," responded Nickolas, reminding Naina that the man before her was a physician.

"Oh yes, I forgot you're a doctor," Naina replied, suddenly feeling silly and embarrassed.

Yet to Nickolas, Naina’s naivety was endearing; it allowed him to see her true innocence, not just an act.

"Feel free to gaze at my body all you want, even fantasize about my chest, but we should not touch just yet," Naina teased.

"You've learned a lot and you grasp things quickly," Nickolas complimented, knowing she gained her knowledge from the internet. He liked that she was intelligent – it made her his equal.

Confidently, Naina thrust her chest forward, making it even more visible to her husband.

"Doc, may I ask you about my mother?"

"What about your mother would you like to know?"

"Can she be cured?"

Nickolas paused, not answering immediately. "Doctors are merely intermediaries, while all will is in the hands of God."

Naina lowered her gaze and her previously uplifted chest.

"You've done so much, Naina. God won't let your efforts be in vain," Nickolas reassured her.

"Can I cry?" Naina asked tentatively.

"You may even cry in my embrace," offered Nick.

With tears streaming down, Naina smiled faintly, then collapsed into his broad chest, seeking comfort in his arms.

"Doc?"

"Yes?"

"Even though our marriage is one of mutual benefit, let's try to truly open our hearts. It could be that through this, you might find a cure for your own maladies."

"I'll try," Nickolas promised.
