Heitor Bitencourt

Hearing from Helio that I wasn't to blame for Juliana's death was a relief, yet guilt still gnaws at me because I could have chosen not to attend that fateful event we were invited to. Juliana had insisted so much that we go, and the result was that damned accident.

I'll never see my wife and child again, but the scoundrel who wrought this misery upon me will pay dearly for the harm he's caused. I call a detective friend because I'll need his services to delve deep into everything concerning this Guilherme.

Heitor - Robson will contact you for more information on the fool who caused my misfortune.

Helio - He's a seasoned detective, I'm sure he'll unearth facts about Guilherme Goncalves and how we can make him answer for his crime.

Heitor - It's taken three years for justice for Juliana, waiting for this damn official conclusion of the forensic report, but now I won't go easy on the wretch.

After agreeing with my lawyer, we shake hands as our brief private meeting concludes, and since Magnolia is the housekeeper, I summon her to show him out, as I plan to stay in the office. Once Helio has left, I pour myself another whisky, downing it in one while tears flow, the ache for my Juliana still piercing.

Magnolia - Excuse me, Heitor, I need to talk to you about something.

Heitor - Don’t come to me with problems, Magnolia, I’ve got enough of those.

Magnolia - It's no problem, Heitor. As I said, we urgently need a new maid, and since you've left the decision to me, I'm informing you that I'll be hiring someone I deeply trust.

Heitor - Is she from your town?

Magnolia - Her mother and I grew up together, we're practically sisters, and the girl needs work because she's looking to leave the countryside.

Heitor - Why does she want to leave the countryside?

Magnolia - She's young, and while her parents own a farm, it seems she wants a break from rural life and is looking to come to the city.

Heitor - All right, Magnolia, as long as she follows all the rules and performs her job well, I see no issue.

Magnolia - Your rules still drive me crazy.

Heitor - You were the one who imposed some of them, so no complaints; you’re taking too much of my time.

Shaking her head, my housekeeper leaves my office, allowing me to respect her staff decisions fully. I pour myself another dose of whisky and take it in one go.

Luna Vieira

Leaving my parents and brother Cadu, whom I dearly love and have never been apart from even for a day, is going to be tough. But right now, my priority is my son, and I will never let him go.

Saying goodbye to my home was hard as I was born here, and even though it wasn't at this farm, it's a part of my life and always will be.

Luna - I'm going to miss this place so much.

Leila - And we will miss you, my daughter... Our beloved daughter leaving home because of that wretch, it hurts too much. Take care, Luna, and be well.

Luna - I love you both so much.

In tears, I embrace my parents a final time. Leaving them is incredibly difficult, and there's this feeling in my chest as if I won't return, which is agonizing.

We leave the farm for the bus station, where I'll catch the bus to Sao Paulo. My father offered to drive me, but I preferred the bus so he wouldn't have to return late - I don't want anything happening to them.

Leila - Be careful, Luna, God be with you, my daughter. 😭😭

Fabio - God protect you, my girl. 😭😭😭😭

Luna - Take care, too. I love you all, thank you for everything. When Cadu gets back from his trip, tell him I love him too. 😭😭😭

Once more I hug them, pained and tearful, as I realize the bus is ready to depart. I board to face my destiny, watching my parents through the window, crying harder at leaving them, but as I touch my belly, I understand it's for the best…
