She sat in the van furiously... Claire followed her...

Tom and Ian also reached the van

The mission had begun...

since Ian was about to be promoted and Max also used some of his connections for Anne they were given, a rather simple mission and they were appointed in a rather desolate area where the risk was pretty low...all they had to do was to enter the town and try reducing the casualties

"Well I don't know maybe you are thinking too much" she may have said that aloud but this time her thoughts wavered a bit.. She felt a conflict of emotions....

In the front seat it was really uncomfortable for Tom to continue sitting near Ian since he was gripping his seat firmly and it was evident that once he got his hands on this Max guy he is so.... dead. As for now all Tom Could wish for was to reach the town as fast as possible....

The van stops they have finally reached their destination

Claire got down "Goodness...!! She covers her eyes"

Anne who also hurried upon hearing Claire's scream was taken aback by the scene

Everything was destroyed.... there was blood and screams everywhere ,people were begging for their life...all they could see was misery...and sobbing...

 It's true that they had their fair share of surgeries and blood was nothing new to them...but still this scene was beyond their imaginations...

A tear fell from Anne's eye....she still mustered up her courage....cause she knew that she might not be able to save everyone there but she could at least save a few...

She asked Tom to lead the way ....seeing her bravery Claire also felt disgusted for not being able to help so she ran towards Anne her legs still shaking....

Regardless of themselves they helped everyone they could.. Saved a few and mourned for the others....In this conflict of tears and screams...the day passed...

It was 11 at night

Ian entered the tent and saw Anne dozing on the table .A beam of moonlight shone over her face....In this place where there are cries all around he never felt this calm before ...that sight was so peaceful that he just didn't want to wake her up...but he had to since he knew that she hadn't even eaten properly ....

He moved closer to her...her eyes were red and puffy... He knew those tears were not because of them who died but we're shed in the guilt that she was not competent enough to be able to save their lives...

His sight then fell on her hands...just this morning they were as soft as petals ...as smooth as jade...but look at them now covered in blood and dust...he extended his uniform and wiped her hands then put his jacket around her...and carried her to the van... Claire was pretty tired herself so she has already slept...

 Upon reaching the base Claire woke up she was startled upon not seeing Anne near her but soon calmed down as she saw that her Anne was safe and was sleeping soundly on Ian's shoulder ....Claire said that she would take Anne to her room but Ian insisted on taking her there himself...

He placed her on her bed...kissed her forehead,whispered a good night in her ears and then left quietly ....

Just like that a week passed by.. Now they have become habituated of that sight and their roles ...Anne as well as Claire became less emotional as they soon understood that they can't save everyone but if they let their feelings take over them they might not even be able to save the rest....

"Anne ...Anne emergency.... "

" What happened" while bandaging a patient

"Anne this little girl is badly wounded"

"She turns around just to find a little girl around 4 or 5 badly injured in Tom's arm"

She quickly started examining her.

After a while Ian also came ....and Anne came outside after tending to her.

"Is she alright"Claire asked..

"Yes she is for now...but the injury has damaged some parts near her heart...if not properly treated she might not survive for too long.."

"Poor child... She lost everything.....she hasn't even learned to speak properly yet...." Claire starts crying...

"Huh!! Still a dumbass always crying....it would have been better if you wouldn't have come...you are useless anyway..."

Since they have come here Tom has always been humiliating Claire but till now she kept quiet....but her patience has its limits...

" Why are you always so mean to me...? I get that I have made some mistakes in the past but were , they that grave..! for me to be treated this way !! Upon coming here I have apologised a hundred times to you.... can't you forgive me...." sobbing

"You are asking for forgiveness.... If you were that guilty what didn't you contact me all these years..... If you really loved me that much...My financial condition wouldn't have bothered you...!!ok fine you were ashamed of us being together so you broke up with me but was it really necessary for your father to humiliate my family....I had to drop out of college ....loving you was the biggest mistake of my life....If I knew what a cheap woman....

smack!!

Claire slaps him... Wipes her tears and grabs him by his collar...

"You know what ?now you have crossed the line....

I didn't want to revel the past cause I thought you might feel guilty... But I guess it's no longer necessary....pushes him aside

Instead of putting complete blame on me why didn't you.. contact me even once ...It was my father who told you that it's over between us right? Did you ever ask me ....well why bother right ?since I was always just a cheap woman in your eyes...
