The Red Queen
Stone held his coat tightly as he walked away from his car. He couldn't believe he would finally meet the only woman crazy enough to love a detective. " It's a bit scary" he said to himself. "the thought of having to marry someone who is capable of monitoring your daily movements."
When he entered the restaurant he checked to see if there where any familiar faces before he could sit down. He did this because he showed up for his date twenty minutes earlier than he was supposed to inorder to familiarize himself with the place.Having just moved into this small town everyone and everything seemed to be new. He walked over to a table that suited his imagination of how romantic the view would be.
To his surprise, there she was, ten minutes earlier than they had agreed to meet. He was impressed by her time keeping and wouldn't wait to have his first conversation with her. She walked in slowly as if really shy but he couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked in her long black dress and high heels that she could barely walk in. She pushed her long black silky hair backwards to keep it from covering her eyes so that she would locate him. upon seeing him, she walked to him slowly. He couldn't believe his eyes. She was even more beautiful than she looked on the pictures she often sent him.
He stood up to help her take her sit. And when he managed to help her sit she kissed him on his cheek and thanked him. The two stared at each other in silence, trying to grasp the words that had escaped their minds. "I planned what I'd say... this is unlike me." he said, Overwhelmed by a meeting he had been planning for about three months. The silence was broken by the waitress who impatiently handed him the menu. She seemed to have been standing there for some time.
"What will you have?" he asked her with a smirk. "Well I trust you know what I like so why don't you make the order?" she replied. "Ok" he said, "if I'm correct she'll have onion soup for a start, Then smocked ribs with fries and some mango juice for the main course. Don't forget two slices of dark forest cake with a glass of wine. "wow.. so, you actually do know me." she approved shyly.
This got the two comfortable enough to conversate. And after hours of talking the two decided it was getting late. Being a gentle man he called a taxi to take her home and when they arrived he made sure she got inside before it drove off. when he got home, he went straight to his bathroom and after a long shower he threw himself on the bed wondering how the following day would be. He was thinking about what had happened earlier that day, when his phone begun to ring. He rushed to the phone hoping it was Tris but was shocked to hear a man's voice. "I'm sorry to disturb you at this hour but there is a case that requires your attention sir. The details have been sent to you via email. You are expected to report for duty tomorrow. good night sir."
