"How do you know that?"

"That doesn’t really matter. I was invisible, so he didn’t see me. After I woke up, I searched for you and found you here."

Rumi’s heart raced. "What do we do now?"

"Like I know! Your prince charming is waiting outside. Go meet him."

"But—"

"No buts! He helped you. It’d be super rude not to say hi."

Chapter 4: The Agreement

Just as Rumi was about to open the door, a voice called out from the hallway.

"Miss! Are you awake?"

Before Rumi could respond, a maid burst in, colliding with her and sending both of them tumbling to the floor. The maid landed squarely on top of Rumi, pinning her down.

"Yes, um... Is there anything you need?" Rumi stammered.

"I’m so sorry, miss! Please accept my apologies!" The maid’s eyes widened with panic.

"It’s fine! There’s nothing to worry about!" Rumi tried to reassure her, but the maid suddenly broke into tears.

"Please forgive me for my clumsiness!"

There was one thing Haruko Rumi, the Great animator couldn't handle, which was seeing people cry.

Rumi, feeling desperate, found herself tearing up too. "You’ve been forgiven! I’m sorry for bumping into you!"

"Miss, why are you crying too?!" the maid exclaimed, bewildered.

"I don’t know!" Rumi wailed, feeling completely overwhelmed.

(Seriously, what a hopeless situation.)

Kuru facepalmed with his paws, exasperated.

"What's with all the noise?" a voice echoed from the doorway.

"Third master?!" the maid gasped, her eyes widening.

"Matsuda-san?" Rumi echoed, equally shocked.

(And just when things couldn’t get any worse, Prince Charming had to show up.)

"If you want to do anything inappropriate, you shouldn’t leave the door open. Didn’t you just ask me to marry you yesterday? And... why are you both crying?" Matsuda’s brow furrowed as he took in the scene.

(Oh yeah... They’re right on top of each other.)

"I-It's not like that!" Rumi protested, her cheeks flushing.

"I just accidentally bumped into her when I was entering the room. It's all my fault! Please, punish me as you see fit!" the maid squeaked.

"No, thank you. Just get up, please," Matsuda said, his tone a mix of amusement and annoyance.

Rumi and the maid scrambled to their feet but quickly lost their balance, falling back down with a thud.

"Oh dear lord. Deal with this quickly, then come to my study," Matsuda instructed, shaking his head in disbelief. He turned to the maid. "You’ll be guiding her."

"Y-Yes! Of course, Third Master!" she replied, still flustered as she quickly got up from the cold wooden tiles, Rumi followed.

Matsuda left the room, leaving the two of them behind, both trying to recover from the embarrassment of the moment.

"I-I’m Aiki Sato, from the Sato clan. I-It's an honor to meet you!" the maid finally managed to say, her cheeks still flushed. "I’ve been assigned as your personal maid and assistant. I’ll guide you to the Third Master’s study."
