"Remember to be a good child, and..."

"Don't misbehave with your friends," Ivy interrupted with a smile.

Arneta, feeling fondness, pinched her daughter's cheek which had a dimple that made Ivy's face even more beautiful. The same dimple was also possessed by the man. In fact, her daughter's face, when looked at closely, was identical to the man's who had planted the seed in her belly. Ivy was like a duplicate of that man, but in a woman's face.

"Bye, Mommy..."

Ivy's words snapped Arneta out of her reverie about the man who had been a dark part of her past. She glanced at her little daughter as she walked into the classroom with a teacher, without a trace of fear. Even at that age, when other children were still crying and refusing to enter the classroom, Ivy appeared enthusiastic.

Yes, her little girl seemed more mature than her age. Perhaps it was because of Arneta's strict upbringing, or because she knew that Mommy had to struggle on her own to provide for their lives. Ivy became a brave and independent figure.

After ensuring that her daughter could adapt well in school, Arneta continued her journey to the office. Although she was a bit late, it didn't matter because she had already obtained permission from Mr. Candra to accompany Ivy on her first day of school.

Upon arriving at her workplace, just as Arneta stepped out of the elevator, she was called by a familiar figure. It was none other than her best friend. It should be emphasized that Nadine was the only person who was truly friends with Arneta, as the others seemed to be her enemies.

"Neta, Mr. Chandra left a message for you to go directly to his office," Nadine said.

"But, is Mr. Candra in his office?" Arneta asked, puzzled.

Because in an hour, Candra would be leaving for Bali to attend a meeting with shareholders there, accompanied by his personal assistant. Yes, Arneta rarely accompanied Candra on his out-of-town trips, as he often preferred to bring his personal assistant along.

"Yes, hurry up and go in. Don't keep him waiting for too long, waiting is tough," Nadine teased, with a mischievous smile.

Arneta simply responded to her best friend's joke by shaking her head, then entered Candra's office after grabbing the notebook she used to record all of his orders.

*Knock.. Knock*.

"May I come in?" Arneta asked after knocking on the door.

"Come in!"

Arneta opened the door to the office, where she saw Candra sitting with his personal assistant standing beside him.

"You called for me?" Arneta asked nervously, as she noticed her boss's intense gaze.

"Please, have a seat!" Candra motioned for his secretary to sit before he began to speak. "In two weeks, I will be transferred by the company's owner to another branch in Paris."

*Thump*.

Arneta blinked her eyes in surprise at what Candra had just said. If he would be transferred to Paris, it meant that he would no longer be her boss.

"Do you mean you won't be working here anymore?"

Candra nodded. "The company owner will take over my position here."

Arneta, still shocked, remained silent, not knowing what to comment.

"I called you here because I want to ask you something."

Being silent, Arneta looked at Candra with curiosity.

"Do you want to continue working here, or would you like to come with me to Paris?"

Without hesitation, Arneta immediately shook her head. She didn't want and would never step foot again in a place filled with her past. The place where she lost the man she loved dearly, and also where she made numerous mistakes that led to her being impregnated by the man who despised her.
