CHAPTER 2.5

Sidestory Ending:

"...Are you sure you don't remember?"

Again with that question.

Even before the physician left, this woman has been asking Alcina the same question over and over again, like 5 times now.

Although, Alcina was lying on the part that she doesn't recognize or remember the identity of the woman, she really doesn't have any memories of the previous owner of the body... which is also a bit suspicious.

In some of the transmigration and reincarnation novels and otome games she had, she expected that she could inherit all the mind and soul after transferring into the world and possessed the body...but... look at this now?

Why doesn't she remember anything?

It's like, something is being hidden.

"Sorry, ma'am... I really can't remember anything."

She replied, repeating her words for the fifth time.

Fortunately, the woman stopped asking the repeating questions.

"No mistress! Don't call me that! I am your maid, Sabrina!"

Yep, I knew...

Aside from her thought, Alcina started raising her eyebrows, trying to play like she was a curious person. As she asked,

"Sabrina? Maid?" She paused. "Ma'am, what kind of person do you think I am?"

Sabrina was strangely shaken by the sudden question.

Sabrina Michael.

Once from an aristocrat family who later became a maid to serve her most trusted friend, Alcina's mother.

Naturally, Sabrina was about to be sent off to marry some noble. But by the help of Alcina's mother, Sabrina became the most loyal person to her that she appointed herself to become Alcina's mother's maid and didn't abandon the child that everyone else on the mansion has already abandoned.

"I already told you mistress! I am your maid... you can't call me that."

"But why not?"

"Because you are a daughter of a duke and the only female heir of the duchy."

She answered firmly.

But despite this, Alcina threw off a question that Sabrina could not firmly answer.

"Then where are my family now?"

Yes, this would probably be the first question that would pop up in a person who suddenly had loss a part of her/his memories.

Where is the family?

"Ummmm....that...they..." The maid couldn't give a thorough answer. Then she continued with her hesitant voice, " T-they are busy, mistress..."

Wrong move, Sabrina.

"..they are that busy to not come and see their child sick?" Alcina suddenly asked. Her eyes beaming with no emotion as she smiled.

Whereas, the woman, Sabrina has now shaken. She was shocked by the unexpected question that the words she was about to say was stuck in her throat. She couldn't say anything but just mumbled...

"I...I...They..."

Sabrina's heart pounded heavily. She didn't want her young mistress to hear the truth nor she knows how to lie..

Looking at the troubled woman, Alcina was feeling utter guilt. It felt like her shoulders were tensing up from witnessing the woman's troubles that she had caused.

Oh. Poor woman. She didn't know that Alcina was playing(gaslighting) her. She wanted to take the opportunity to make a drama here and now what has she has done?

It was a different experience when she can watch the "drama" by just being an audience, than being the one who really caused the "drama".

So much for being an angst lover... But never regretting it though...

But she should really stop this.

"Alright, I get it Sabrina. They are busy, I understand."

Suddenly Sabrina stopped mumbling that she finally came into her senses after she heard Alcina's words.

"You understand?"

"Yeah, no biggie haha. If they are that busy then let them be it. Who cares if there child here is probably dying here--!"

Ack.

Damn it. This slippery tongue of mine.

"No,no...that is not true young mistress! Don't lose hope!"

Sabrina suddenly held Alcina's hand. She then continued, her heart inflamed...

"If you just work hard on it, they sure will-! They will surely love you! Just please don't lose hope!"

"O-okay!" Alcina was weirded out by the sudden physical contact that she didn't even bother to listen to any of Sabrina's motivational speech. "I get it...but don't forget, Sabrina, I don't have any memories of the past. I can't really resent what has been done. All I know now is, I just have to live."

Speaking from the thoughts she had, Alcina's heart also melted. This was spoken from a genuine heart.

Sabrina widened her eyes as Alcina continued...

"I may not know who I was, but now, I will make me know, who I will become."

Instantly, Sabrina was flabbergasted.

"Pardon, mistress? I am sorry, but I seem to be a bit puzzled."

"...Ah, silly me! Ha ha! It's a philosophy thing, Sabrina!"

"Philosophy? But where in the world do you know that word?"

"Ummm...I don't know?"

Suddenly, a chuckle was heard. "My, my...Mistress, looks like you have changed."

"Really?"

Alcina couldn't help but feel nervous.

"It's a good thing, mistress. I am also glad you are still alive, Alcina."

"Mwa." Sabrina kissed a peck on Alcina's cheeks. "Why not you rest a bit? Let's talk later, okay?"

"Ahhh, okay." Alcina agreed and eventually she fell asleep.

Sabrina went outside of her room and soon she was greeted by the butler.

"How is she?"
