THE THINGS WE CARRY

Only a few are free from the yolk,

The remaining billions are still chained to it.

We move like circus elephants right from birth,

Running through the same process,

Visiting the same gambling houses,

Our thoughts not alike but the same,

As we bear a joint curse and yolk,

Living our separate lives under the same shade,

Which colors whatever we bear,

That pulls us all down together,

Right from child loss to heartbreak,

From anxiety to suffering,

Though each having theirs,

We are all on the same tree,

That defines our stand.
