I left the club excited to see Ali and drove home with Gato. When we arrived, I found it odd that all the lights were off and the door was open, with Ali's car parked outside. So, I drew my weapon and silently entered, only to feel the cold metal against my head and heard the clicking sound of a gun's safety being released. The lights came on and I saw Ali pointing it at me.
Hours earlier:
I woke up completely naked, with Kai watching me. Memories of the night before returned, and I couldn’t help but smile.
Kai: Good morning, beautiful.
Ali: Good morning. What time is it?
Kai: It's still early. He pulls me close by my neck, planting a kiss which I reciprocated fervently, a kiss full of passion and intensity.
I removed the sheet that separated me from his nudity and began kissing his body which I craved desperately, my lips nearly wearing out against his supple skin. While we kissed, my hands explored her intimately and she surrendered to the sensations, her body signaling for more. I lifted her, back arched as she wrapped her legs around my waist, and entered her in one forceful thrust that transported us into a world of pure bliss. I carried her to a small table by the window and our wet kisses and the rhythm of our movements filled the room; we were drenched in sweat and subsumed by pleasure.
Kai: Tell me, Ali, that from now on, you're only mine, my voice strained as I kissed her neck.
Ali: This man drives me wild with pleasure. As he thrusts into me with his powerful strokes, I see stars.
Breathless, we reveled in our heated union.
"I won't say it," I managed between stolen kisses, even as he lifted me without breaking his relentless rhythm, all the way to the bathroom. His movements became rougher, more precise under the cascading water, and I felt my body tensing, an urgent desire welling up within me as he paused, leaving me craving his motion.
Kai: Say you'll be only mine, no one else will touch you, not while the water endlessly pours down on us.
"Just say it," I demanded, noticing how his chest heaved with each labored breath.
Ali: I give in; I'll be only yours (as he kissed me intensely, exploring my mouth and driving into me forcefully, bringing me to ecstasy like no one else ever has). We ended disheveled, damp, and my legs trembled so much that Kai ended up supporting me in the shower, then carried me back to bed, offering me an analgesic to ease the slight pain in my legs. I waited for the painkiller to kick in before dressing and heading to work. But I paused, noticing Kai's necklace — I had seen it somewhere before. Whose was it? Kai's voice snapped me out of my reverie.
Kai: Are you alright, beautiful? he asked, kissing my forehead.
Ali: Yes, I'm getting ready to go to work. Your necklace, Kai?
Kai: It was given to me by an old friend. Beautiful Ali, tonight I must go to the club, but you can wait up for me. I need to talk to you about something very important.
Ali: Okay, let’s have breakfast. It's getting late, and we need to call Jimmy to find out what he discovered about my father and why the general wanted my dad's computer.
Kai: Let's go. Can you walk, or should I carry you? He smiled and winked at me.
Ali: Haha, very funny, yes I can walk, you clown. (Taking my hand to give me a quick kiss)
Kai: Being with you like this feels like a dream.
Ali: (I smiled)
We walked downstairs to find Gato and Jimmy with breakfast ready.
Gato: Good morning, lovebirds.
Ali: Good morning, a bit shyly.
Jimmy: At last, the drought is over, brother (he whispered to Kai).
Kai: Shut it, nudging him with an elbow.
Ali: Breakfast was a bit awkward because I think they overheard and knew what was happening between Kai and me.
"Did you find anything on my dad's computer?" I asked Jimmy.
Jimmy: Yes, I'm working on it. It's a list of names involved in a prostitution ring. Lots of big fish – lawyers, mayors, judges, governors. This secret prostitution network has been around for decades. Now I understand why your dad kept hidden. What are we going to do with this information, Ali?
Ali: (Thoughtfully) For now, keep it safe. I need to find my dad, and I want the journalist's information; he could be helpful.
Jimmy: I’ll have that information by tonight.
Kai: After breakfast, I watch Ali drive off in her car. Left with Gato and Jimmy, I contemplate the day ahead.
"Today, I plan to tell her the truth. It's better she hears it from me."
Gato: You’re right, better from you than her finding out on her own.
Jimmy: That's right, my friend.
Ali: I arrive at the hospital. The day goes by routinely; the patient is not in a state to talk to anyone, having had many crises as if fearful of something, refusing to let anyone touch her. But something has been on my mind since I saw Kai's necklace – I can't get it out of my head. Then a flash of my father arguing with me, wearing that necklace.
Why does Kai have my father's collar? What's Kai’s connection to my father? Deciding to leave work early, I stop by a convenience store to get a few things, hoping to surprise Kai. I plan to go to the club. If Kai is hiding something, he wouldn't keep it at home. Back home, I prepare a tasty dessert as an excuse to see him. After becoming restless from inspecting Kai's belongings and finding nothing, I find a gun with its magazine. I take my car to the club, which is crowded—it's Friday. So, I park at a restaurant across the street and walk to the club with my dessert, stopping in an alley where I hear someone being beaten. I approach quietly, but nothing could prepare me for what I would see and hear. I see Kai and Gato thrashing a man talking about a debt, the man pleading for time to pay his brother, but ultimately calling the man being beaten the devil. I stand there in shock. How could I be so foolish? I toss the dessert in the trash, drive home in a fury for Kai having played me for a fool all this time, go upstairs, load the gun, and wait for Kai to confront him.
