Pulling apart, we hurriedly adjusted our clothes without a word. I made for the door and found "Gato" standing there.
Gato: How's he doing? she asked, stepping through the doorway.
Kai: He's alright, just some bruises; he's sleeping now. Ali took care of him. (At that moment, Ali appears)
"Ali, is this Gato?-"
Gato: Hey, thanks for helping him. Where is he? (Anxious)

Gato: Good morning, sorry for storming in last night, but I was worried about Jimmy. He's awake now, getting dressed and will be down in a moment.
"Pleased to finally meet you, Ali, I've heard a lot about you." Smiles
Ali: The pleasure is mine. (Why does everyone seem to know about me, what are they up to?) Just then, Jimmy descends with bruises on his face, supported by Gato.
"How are you feeling?" I ask.
Jimmy: I’m alright, thanks. Sorry for the scare last night, I had nowhere else to go. I'm famished, may I?
Ali: Of course, let's eat. Throughout breakfast, they compliment my cooking, but my focus remains on Kai. Our glances meet now and then, but I blush thinking of being on top of him, kissing, his hands exploring, and how, if not for the interruption, I would have given myself to him. He awakens things within me, yet I hardly know him and that scares me.
Jimmy jolts me back from my reverie.
Jimmy: After you left, I started working with various programs to crack the USB data. I thought you had returned when I heard a noise, but it was two men. Fortunately, I'd started to secure the information when they assaulted me for it. I kept silent, defending myself, until the place was wrecked, and they were driven off. Hurting, with no phone to call my girlfriend, I thought of coming to you.
Ali, what's on that drive is critical, and handling it will be dangerous. I know we're strangers to you, and mistrust is natural, but we're all in this now—let us help for Kai's sake. He cares about you. I'm not asking for trust without caution, Ali, but I've seen things too, and this town deserves justice. As long as it's under their control, who's to say we're safe? Please let us support you.
"Gato" puts a laptop on the table, and I bring up the information for Ali.
"Ready for this?" I ask.
Ali: I listen to every word from Jimmy, and somehow, he's right—I can't do this alone. Looking over at Kai, who takes my hand, his sincere gaze imparts an honesty that sways me. Part of me longs for the truth about this town, yet fears it might be my undoing. For my sister and Jennie, I'll do it.
"I'll do it" I say, turning the laptop toward me and Kai by my side. I look at Kai, who places his hand on my shoulder, signalling I won't be alone...
