Chapter 3- Grudge of a bully

Riley Pov

I woke up at 6:00am sharp. Took a quick shower, got dressed, did my hair, and made myself some breakfast. My mom was still sleeping. I had to catch the bus to my Dad's house at 7:10am. Myles and I usually walk to school together. Lola, who lived next door to Dad, often joined us.

We stopped at the convenience store for a pack of gum on our way to school. We ran into Adam with a short girl with short hair. She was asking him for some gum. The store belonged to Adam's parents and he was working that morning.

I didn't even want to buy anything from their store but Myles wanted something that only their store sold. I could have taken my money elsewhere but I bought two packs anyway. Myles nearly overspent his allowance. Our dad gave us each twenty dollars every morning.

I normally spend five to seven dollars and save the rest in a piggy bank. My mom likes to steal it and buys cigarettes with it. Last summer, I had 957 dollars saved up and she took it and gambled away with her friends.

I warned Myles not to overspend on sweets as I won't lend him anything for lunch. I took out my twenty-dollar bill and handed it to Adam at the cash register.

A girl who asked for the gum comes over to Adam. "Babe, when will I get my gum?" She asked him. "Lindsey, I ******* told you I don't have any money. This is my parents' store." He said annoyed.

"They got cameras everywhere. If I take something and give it away for free, my parents will ground me." He said. "Okay. She says in a teary voice. Why did you shout at me?" She asked.

"I'm sorry." He says. "It's because of her, isn’t it?" She says looking at me.

"Shut up!" Adam shouted. I was getting ready to chew both of them out. It was now 7:46 and we needed to be at school by 8:00am for soccer tryouts. Adam's parents walked in and told him to get to school. He then handed me my change and Lola, Myles and I headed out the door.

Behind us was Adam and his girlfriend. They were talking and Adam handed her a pack of gum and kissed her. "I'm so getting in trouble for this," Adam said.

The girl giggled and asked,"Why? Because you stole gum for me?" Adam kissed her and replied,"Yes!".

"Myles Wait up?." She said. Myles gave her a confused look and asked,"Do I know you?"  Myles said. "Do you have a girlfriend?" She asked.

To which Adam answered, "Lindsey what the ****." She then yelled,"I'm not cheating on you, dumbass." Lindsey said.

"My friend, Cassie has a crush on him, remember?" Lindsey said. "Oh right. What does she see in this loser anyway?" Adam asked.

Myles replied annoyed "I'm a loser? Does your Mother know your Father is having an affair with his tenants upstairs, Yo mama is a trophy wife."

I felt like thing was going to escalate. "Myles stop it!" I said to my brother.  "Shut up you don't know anything about me!" Adam said.

He started throwing punch as at Myles  and said in anger "You piece of shit, I'm gonna kill you and **** your pretty sister."

Myles replied "Oh yeah I'd like see you try. Adam threw a punch and Myles dodges it and kick him in the stomach and Adam coughed blood.

Adam screamed "i wanna tear your head off you dont know anything about me." His girlfriend tried to calm him down "Babe stop babe calm down" she yelled.

He continued to fight Myles losing as he began to throw insults at me.  "I swear Riley, I hate you, you've always loved Carter more than me, I'll kill you if can't have you no one can" Adam said smiling evilly.

Myles replied "oh my gosh he's crazy and obsessed with you Riles, geez you really do got problems, yo crazy boy over here" Myles say trying instagate a fight. " Myles Please stop it? Lets go were going to be late for tryouts" i said panicking.

Myles continued,"Your mother is *****, everyone in your neighborhood fucked her." Myles said.  I felt like things were going to escalate. "Myles stop it, can't you see you're upsetting him, he'll take out his frustration on me." I said crying as we had to be to school for tryouts.

Myles threw his water at Adam, soaking him. Myles said,"Whatever. Tell your stalker not to have anything to say to me if he doesn't wanna suffer the consequences."

"Riley i swear, I'll kill you, I hate you so much that it hurts seeing your stupid face everyday" he said. I felt frightened by what he said as tear formed in the corner of my eye. "leave me alone!! what did i ever do to you?" I screamed.

Myles replied "He's just like his father a ******* man ***** and a rapist." I started to cry and panic. "Myles stop it your the one who made him angry now he's threatening me." I said.

"You better watch your back *****, I'll kill you." Adam said. "Adam please calm down your overreacting." His girlfriend said.

Lola pulled me away as she comforted me. "Come on Riles, Don't cry, he's crazy both of them are, let's go." She said.

We finally made it to school and Lola and I tried out for soccer and tennis. We made the team and Myles made the basketball team and the soccer team. I was happy finally life was a bit normal. No Carter to ruin it.

After tryouts, math class came up. I hated math but I loved going to math class because there was this cute boy who caught my eye. He was friends with Myles. I often asked Myles questions about him, but Myles would just brush me off.

He had a smooth voice, baby face, wavy hair, seductive eyebrows and soft pink lips. He was captain of the tennis team, seemingly into girls who played it and dated almost every single girl in the tennis team except me and Lola.

He would just stare at me sometimes in P.E. I tried to approach him a few time but he was always surrounded by girls and he was also friends with Adam. He was mysterious. I dreamed of one day marrying him and having his babies. Then all that changed later that day.

I caught him, Tommy in an act with an eighth grade girl on the tennis court that morning after tryouts. She was giving him a hand job. He saw me and flipped me the bird. After everyone left he approached me.

"You tell anyone what you saw and I will make your life a living hell, babe." He said.

"I won't tell anyone." I said softly.

"Ok, thanks for not being a snitch. Adam said you were a little snitch. I thought you'd tell on me."

"I won't tell anyone, Tommy. I promise, cross my heart." I said. "I kinda have a crush on you.' I missed and blurted out.

He was shocked and replied, "What? Woah, I...

I blushed quickly apologizing,"Sorry, I wasn't supposed to tell you that. "You're awkward, Riley." He said. "Omg, you know my name? How?" I asked.

"You’re Myles' sister. He told me." He said. "You’re cute." I blurted out again. He smirked and replied, "Oh really now? I'm sorry, Riley. Myles already told me but you seem innocent." He said.

" You're not like the other girls. I really don't want to take advantage of my best friend's sister." He said with a warm smile.

"Okay, I understand Tommy, please don't tell anyone I told you," I said.

He chuckled and replied, "Don't worry babes, I won't," he said as he walked away.

The next day, I woke up and went to school. I was already on edge after the events of yesterday, and today was proving to be a disaster as well.

My mother started screaming at me, accusing me of stealing her cigarettes. I had no idea what she was talking about. I was so angry that I actually cried on my way to school.

When I arrived, Adam and a few other kids started messing with me. He pulled my hair, and then dragged me into the boys bathroom before trying to rape me.

I managed to get away and a fight broke out between us. It took the help of a few kids and teachers to pull us apart. By the time the principal arrived, both of us were bloody and our clothes were ripped.

The principal called up our parents, and when my father came, we went to the police station and filed a restraining order against Adam for attempted rape and harassment.

He was expelled from school because of this incident and his previous behaviors. He had gotten into numerous fights before, but this was by far the worst.

I was scared of what my mom and my sister Hannah would do to me if they found out Adam got expelled because of me.

I begged my father to remove me from the house, since my mother was not stable and was verbally, mentally and physically abusing me. But I knew he wouldn't, since he was too afraid of my mother and of his wife Constance.

I hugged my father and went home with my mother. She kept hitting, beating, slapping, and shoving me, calling me every name in the book. All I could do was just cry and think about the future.

I thought about graduating eighth grade and how everything would hopefully get better. I distracted myself by thinking of places I wanted to visit one day, like Paris, Australia and Switzerland. I even thought of falling in love and starting a family with the person I truly loved.
