Episode 3

“The course of true love never did run smooth”

After dozens of nobles gathered Laila to introduce their son or relatives.

“Laila I think it’s better if you go get some fresh air” Tyler said as he pat her head.

“Careful with the hair, it took all day to make it” Laila said as she turned to leave

“I really don’t see the point of this whole ceremony” Laila said to her self in a low whisper as she walked to the balcony but then she bumped into a figure

“Ouch!” Laila exclaimed

As she raised her head to see who she had hit she saw a man she had never seen in her whole life.

To her he smelled of a sweet candy that maid her get lost in his scent for a second

“Do I know you?” Laila asked with a hostess smile

The man didn’t answer the question and kept on looking at her

“Ah never mind” Laila thought, there were probably some people that came along with the nobles that came here.

“I think it’s better if you stay with your overseer, it won’t be good if someone else were to mistake you as a threat” Laila said

“Congratulations on your age of coming” he said finally

This took Laila by surprise as she didn’t expect it “oh thank you”

She stood there to look at this man again, he had a big built and a nice smile and he was..

“Pretty...” she murmured

“What’s your name” she asked out of curiosity

“Klaus” he said gently

“That’s a nice name”

“Oh sorry for holding you up I’ll let you be on your way” Laila said as she walked by him and then felt her armed being grabbed

“Weren’t you going to get some fresh air” he said in a whisper

Laila looked at him for a while without speaking, for some minutes she was quiet.

“You look familiar” she said, while she tilted her head “have we met before?”

“Isn’t that quite an old pickup line” Klaus said as he giggled “but it worked on me” he added.

Seeing that the young ladies’ expression was serious

“This will be our first meeting miss” he said as he bowed.

“Well that’s a shame, you remind me of someone”

“I wonder who”

“That’s none of your business” she said harshly as she turned to walk away.

“Well I would like to learn more about this interesting lady”

“That’s your problem not mine, now I shall take my leave” as she turned and left.

As she was walking away she smiled “he’s cute” she thought.

The next day.

“MISS MISS”

The corridors were filled with noises of “miss”

Laila who just woke up, got up on her night gown and went around confused.

Although the whole place was noisy she couldn’t find a single maid around.

From the stairs she could see everyone including her brother who looked annoyed.

He was looking at someone, but she wasn’t able to get a view of the person properly.

“Brother?” She voiced out, she wasn’t loud but as soon as she spoke the room went quiet.

This time the maids moved from the view that blocked the person, although just woke up she recognized him immediately.

“Why is he here?” She asked

Bright blond hair, dark blue eyes. It’s a feature that’s not easy to forget.

“Laila! Your finally awake! They won’t let me see you” he shouted while he waved excitedly at her.

“Laila you absolutely do not know who this strange man is, I have never seen him before” her brother let out sternly.

“Actually....” Laila whispered to herself.

But even with everything going in room Klaus wasn’t able to get his eyes off Laila, Laila who was dressed in her night wear with a thin silk jacket on her back.

Her shoulders were just barely covered and her shiny silver hair fell down, touching the back of her knee.

Her bare face exposed her smooth skin, not a red spot that indicates the presence of pimple was seen.

Tyler looked at this gentleman who claimed that he wanted to marry his sister with confused eyes.

“Why does he look familiar” He thought as he watched this stranger look at his sisters with his disgusting eyes.

“That’s enough of looking” Tyler said as he snapped his black gloves in front of him.

Klaus snapped back to reality immediately.

“Actually I met him last night” Laila said coming down the stairs.

Before she could take another step her brother eyed at her to not move an inch.

“It seems like this gentleman will have to wait, as you can see my sister just got up from bed”

Laila confused looked at her self and her pale face turned red, she quickly shut her silver grey eyes and excused herself quickly.

After a few hours

“Am so sorry for my rudeness this morning” Laila said as she bow gently.

This time her hair was up in curls that touched her back instead of the legs, she had light makeup done.

She wore a small diamond necklace that was matched with dazzling diamonds earrings.

“It’s my fault for coming uninvited” Klaus said smiling like he’s just won a lottery.

“That’s right” Tyler shot back

“Why are you here Mr Klaus” Laila asked confused as to why he visited without a notice.

“I would probably just reject his request even if he does” she thought

“Because my lady would just decline” he said smiling as he picked up a tea cup “cute tea cup”

Taken back by what he just said Laila giggled.

“I’m here to finalize our engagement” Klaus said confidently as he smiled brightly.

“Engagement?”

The whole room went quiet, the maid shivered and Tyler face darkened as he frowned.

“This joke has gone too far, I suggest you take back what you just said” Tyler said as he glared at him burning a hole into Klaus skin.

Klaus shivered and won’t dare look at Tyler but instead he was smiling as he saw the dark expression on Laila’s face.

“Impossible...” Laila said in a low voice, she looked up at Klaus just to see him staring back with a grin on his face “seems like you have remembered”

Laila face turned bright red as she blushed so hard she turned her face away but now she was facing Tyler who was confused with all the emotion in the air.

“Laila..” Tyler said “what’s happening”

“I think I .. mistakenly got engaged” she said still flushed but now she was using her hand to fan her face that felt like it was in fire.

Tyler looked confused by what she said and turned to look at Klaus who was still blindly smiling at Laila. He got angry and jumped on him.

“What did you do to my sister!” Tyler growled at him as he punched his face. Klaus chuckled as he wiped the blood from his mouth, “you really live up to the reputation”

“Laila don’t tell me you want to claim the engagement as a mistake” Klaus said as he turned his head to face Laila who was still sitting.

She stood up finally and went toward the place Tyler pushed Klaus.

“Brother please get off him” Laila asked as she covered her face in shame.

“But Laila the engagement...”

“I have no thoughts on going back on my words especially a promise, the engagement will go as planned” Laila said as she left the place.

Two men on the ground was what was left in the room. Tyler who was confused look back at Klaus who was blushing while he looked at the direction Laila went.

“Isn’t it time you get off me brother in law after all I am not into guys”

At hearing the word *Brother in law* Tyler punched him again.

What actually happened last night

As she was walking away she smiled “he’s cute” she thought.

As Laila walked a few steps she suddenly fell to the floor. “Ouch” she exclaimed to her self.

She looked to see the cause of the pain which happens to be in her feet. “I knew that ordering a size smaller would be a mistake” she said as she cursed under her breath.

She looked up and saw Klaus with his hands stretched out offering her a hand. “This lady seems to be having problems walking properly”

Laila sighed as she placed her hand into his huge palm. She was taken by surprise when he suddenly grabbed her waist and carried her.

She blushed at this sudden movement and started to resist “what do you think your doing!” She exclaimed

“It doesn’t seem you can walk in the condition your in” Klaus said as he happily carried her to the balcony closest to them.

Upon their arrival there was a brown wooden bench by the corner, he gently put her down.

“Thank you” Laila said shying away from him. Why do I feel like this Laila thought.

Klaus went on one knee, he then gently took off the heels she had on and helped the young lady to massage her leg.

She tried pulling her leg but his hand wouldn’t budge.

The atmosphere was quiet, though they could hear the music from the ballroom. “It’s time for the dance” she said as she look at him.

“Is it” he replied as he stopped his hands. He looked up to see the most beautiful sight in front of him.

“Would it be crazy for me to ask you to drink with me” he asked

Laila looked at him “that is if you could get any” she grinned.

Present

“Even if u were drunk how could I have agreed to a proposal!!” Laila said as she screamed into her pillow.

“Tyler is going to give me an earful about this” she said as she rolled on her bed. “I don’t even know anything about this man!!!”

“Damn right Laila what were you thinking” Tyler said as he barged into the room in anger.

“How did this happen!”

Laila turned her face away and started to smile.

“I don’t care, this engagement is not happening” Tyler said as he covered his eyes with his palm.

“Come onnnn it’s like breaking a promise” she weaned

“Laila you know well the big difference with this and a promise”

“You said I could chose my husband!”

Tyler was taken by surprise, he did remember saying something like that but he never expected it to be used against him.

“Then tell me, why do you want to marry this man” Tyler said feeling defeated if he was going to let his sister get married at least he must know the reason.

Laila stopped to think and her face turned red “I like him”

“Love?” Tyler repeated in his mind over and over as he left her room “what exactly does she know about love”

“It seems like I have to do some research on this man”

It’s early in the morning and this is the third time that klaus has stopped at Graham mansion with a bouquet of flowers.

His reaction as he sees his fiancé come out of the gates with well dressed hair adorned with ornaments.

“I still can’t believe I am engaged to such a beautiful lady” he said as he offered his arm to her.

“That’s the third time you have said that” Laila said as she giggled and accepted the invite.

Klaus has been taking Laila out on dates and improving their relationship. “At this rate she’ll go blind with what she called love” Tyler said as he watched from the the window as he see his younger sister follow this strange man

“Master I have found something”

Tyler looked back and was faced with a man kneeling on one knees with his head bowed.

“About time” Tyler said with a dark tone as he was handed documents

After countless trials to investigate Klaus, Tyler was always hit with a dead end which was very suspicious that everything he found out was like it was planned and written out.

“I think he’s on to us”

“He must have discovered traces you left while investigating, you can leave now” Tyler said as he sat down on the huge arm chair that faced the wide desk.

After his father died he didn’t do much renovations to the office so the chair was the same as the ones the past head used.

As he looked through the documents Tyler was brought into réalisation who Klaus really was

“this is getting dangerous”

“Did you see the face of that man” Laila said as she laughed.

Klaus took her to the theater today which was a first for Laila.

Laila blushed as the atmosphere became quiet in the carriage.

“Laila, are you sure you want to get engaged to me” Klaus asked in a serious manner.

Laila was taken back by the question as he was always insisting that he would never break the engagement even as a mistake.

“If I don’t will you break it” she replied

“I will, but this is your only chance”

She stopped for a moment and took her silky silver hair that slipped through her finger to the back.

“I haven’t known you for a long time but every second I spend with you makes me happy, so even if this will end up being a mistake... I won’t regret it”

Klaus smiled and held her hand she then rested her head in his lap as he plays with her hair.

“Regret...” he said under his breath, Laila heard him say something but it wasn’t clear “did you say something” she asked.

“Oh nothing..”.

That should be where she made the mistake and would start to regret.
