Episode 6

Sebastian

I've decided to captivate the kid. After some research, I found out he's Liam's brother, so now I need to get on my brother-in-law's good side and extract as much information as possible. Some might call me a stalker, but as the saying goes: nothing ventured, nothing gained. And venturing is precisely what I'm trying to do, though truth be told, it's been tough. I handle a hefty 75% of the organization's workload, and yes, it's a challenging affair. Especially since Alessandro has opted to play the part of secret lover and boss, albeit in a flipped role, with Liam being the true boss, sporadically bestowing him with attention.

Anyway, these days have been taxing, and the one thing that keeps me going is visiting the cafe to find Aisen. He's usually there, and he seems to have a penchant for desserts, so I must try harder. Every time he spurns me, it feels awful, but each attempt is a chance to approach things anew. His physical reactions are the only thing motivating me to persist.

Today, I was supposed to meet with a business associate; that's usually Alessandro's realm, as he still oversees the family's legal ventures. But at the last minute, he told me he had an appointment with Liam and his son – the first time he would meet him – and I didn't want to spoil that moment he's been anticipating for five years.

In the end, I was summoned to a lunch meeting at a restaurant.

I arrived for lunch as arranged, and five minutes later, the client enters. He's a striking individual – tall, muscular, with alluring golden eyes and skin as pale as snow. He seemed somewhat unwell due to his pallor.

I even blurted out imprudently:

Sebastian: Are you feeling alright?

I asked, placing my hand on his forehead. He looked at me with serious eyes.

Damn it.

What was I thinking?

"Actually, I'm just missing a dose of blood. Would you like to be my dinner?"

Uh...

What did he say?

I stared, baffled because I didn’t catch his remark.

He grinned then said:

"Just kidding. I'm only playing. To answer your question, I am fine; it's just my milky skin, but it runs in the family. I'm Eider Miller, son of Samuel Miller – the tycoon, not king – owner of the R. V. corporations. We had a business date scheduled here."

His smile was so enchanting it drew a sigh from me.

Damn, why do I always meet such gorgeous and irresistible men?

Sebastian: I am Sebastian Greco, the right-hand man to Alessandro Rinaldi. He couldn't make it, so here I am.

Eider: Well, my father told me...

And on and on we went, discussing the business, organizing everything to align on all the points – the advantages and disadvantages.

Eider: Now that we've reached an agreement, would you like to join me for dinner? I'd like to be your friend; you've made a good impression on me, and I don't generally mix with many people. My father taught me to be wary.

Sebastian: If you’re distrustful of people, why invite me for dinner?

Eider: Because you’re beautiful.

Upon hearing this, I spat out the wine I'd been sipping, causing it to spill onto the man’s suit.

Damn it.

I rose swiftly, trying to dab his suit with a napkin, but in my clumsiness, I tangled my feet and fell onto his lap, my face just inches from his – an awkward position for onlookers.

I looked up, surprised and embarrassed by the proximity; he smiled, his hands approaching my face, and just as he was about to kiss me, a voice shattered our bubble:

"Cousin, what a surprise to find you here."

Blast it.

For once in my life, I try flirting with someone and not only does the person fail to notice me, but just as I was about to have my first kiss – albeit with not the one I fancy – he shows up and ruins the moment. I try to get up, but the guy encircles my waist, making it impossible for me to move. I look up, and there he is, as beautiful and elegant as ever, giving me that typical cold look, the one that says he wants nothing to do with me, but now there's something more. His beautiful green eyes gleam with danger; he seems furious.

Eider: I feel the same, a surprise indeed, given you don't frequent establishments unless they're family-owned.

The other retorted.

Wait, did he just say cousin?

Aisen: Well, today I wanted to try something new, and aren't you going to introduce your new lover?

He seethes with each word.

New lover?

What?

Eider: Don't misunderstand, Aisen. What I seek is not a fling but something more serious.

Aisen: Oh? How serious?

Eider: Quite serious. Anyway, since we are...

Aisen: Since you're my cousin, you won't mind if I join you, will you?

Sebastian: Well, actually...

Eider: No, I was just getting to know this beautiful guy here. Have a seat.

Aisen: Sebastian, he's quite attractive, don't you agree?

Eider: Do you know each other?

Damn, now what do I do?

Thankfully my cellphone began ringing just then, giving me an avenue to escape the tense scene.

Sebastian: I'm sorry, my boss is calling. Until next time, Mr. Eider – we'll stay in touch.

Eider: Come on, Sebastian, call me Eider. And I can walk you to your car if you'd like, lunch is on me.

I could feel Aisen's lethal glare bearing into my back, rendering me breathless, yet even with his intimidating aura, he looked divine, his wine scent growing more concentrated. Damn it, how can one not fall in love with him? He's perfect.

Sebastian: No thank you, Eider. Please, stay with your cousin. We'll be in touch, yes? Goodbye.

I bolted from the place like a coward.
