Aisen: I think letting him see how flustered I get just by smelling his incredible scent was a bad idea.
Darn it, this guy is baiting me to dominate him.
Aiko: Right in front of us, I don't know about your friend, but I want this boy for myself.
Aisen: Enough talk, I want him too, but I'm scared. His life is fraught with danger, and I don't want to jeopardize my family because of it.
Aiko: Do you realize that the mobster and his associate are partners?
Aisen: Damn, you're right. What do we do?
Aiko: Well, we can’t defy your brother; he loves him, and despite being hurt, you don't know how soon he’ll forgive him. Remember, he could've rejected the bond and then erased his memory, but he didn't.
A familiar sexy voice and a scent that causes my brain to short-circuit pull me from my thoughts.
Sebastian: Hey kid, can I sit with you?
Aisen: You can sit; I was about to leave anyway.
Tomas: Aisen, you promised you'd stay to try the new desserts on my menu.
Shoot.
I'd forgotten all about that. I really want to bolt from here, and now Tomas puts me on the spot.
I glance at the man who smirks at me.
Tomas: Rude pup, stand up and offer your friend a seat so you both can try my desserts.
I roll my eyes. If it weren't for his desserts always being so delicious, I'd be gone.
Sebastian: So?
Aisen: Go ahead, sit down.
He smiles brightly and does so. As we're served the desserts, he peppers me with questions to which I respond with monosyllables, not because I dislike him—quite the opposite, in fact. The man truly excites me, his voice and his charming scent alone conjure up countless filthy thoughts I'd like to act upon. That, and his soft, sweet scent signals to me that this boy is purer than a diamond, and it would be a delight to be the first man in his life.

Aiko: and the last; I want him for us.
Aisen: That's impossible, my friend. We have a secret we must keep hidden; not all humans can be trusted. Better to distance ourselves now so it won't be hard later.
Aiko: You're right; it's better to step away now than regret it later. Not everyone's like Don Tomas and Mark.
Sebastian: So, do you have a girlfriend? Are you married? Single? Widowed? Divorced?
Aisen: Too many questions, just one answer: none of your business.
I say sternly, although my face doesn’t reflect what I feel because his scent makes it hard to maintain composure.
At that moment, I get a call from Sara. She's a she-wolf from our pack and also happens to be my secretary. That she-wolf has always made advances on me, making things easy, but my father always taught us to remain loyal to our mate, otherwise, we'd have trouble with ex-lovers or current partners. Even if we never understood why he said that, given that he stayed pure for my mother and waited 12 years, I followed his advice. Not that I've been waiting for the witch who preferred someone else over me, but in some ways, I'm thankful.
Sebastian: Do you need to leave?
He asks as he sees me get up.
Aisen: Yes, I have work. Don Tomas, could we postpone this for another time, please?
He sighs and nods.
I leave without saying goodbye. I may be a fool, but I don't want to suffer. It's not that all humans are the same, but I have no interest in finding out if he is.
My days have been rough because I keep running into Sebastian, and it's becoming exceedingly difficult.
And it reflects in my behavior; my wolf doesn't want anyone near but family.
If anyone else tries to approach, my wolf immediately growls in annoyance.
Whenever I encounter Sebastian, I try to play hard to get, and even if my body betrays my words, I try to make it clear that I have no interest in anything related to him, despite it being quite the opposite.
Liam: Why are you treating poor Sebastian like that? He seems crazy about you.
Aisen: Liam, you know perfectly well why I'm doing this.
Liam: Are you still looking for her? Why bother? She didn't care about the bond.
Aisen: You know the bond is strong, and although I've decided to reject her, what if I meet my second chance and it's not Sebastian? Not all are like grandpa, who lost his mate and found grandma. I don't want to hurt anyone else. Besides, whatever is between Sebastian and me is just physical attraction, nothing more.
Liam: Are you sure it’s just that?
Aisen: I don't want to fall in love, Liam. Ever since my transformation, I dreamed of the day the Goddess would send me my destined mate. I wanted a large family, like ours, with beautiful children running around. I had many dreams, and when she appeared, I wanted nothing more than to make those dreams a reality. And what happened? I believed only humans were disloyal, chasing money and few staying out of love. I resented Ava for choosing someone not her own, for someone who'd likely leave her once her true nature was revealed.
Liam: Are you afraid of getting hurt again?
I nod.
Aisen: That's why I can't be the Alpha of a pack; I'm not strong enough.
Aiden: You are strong, brother. There's no Alpha who hasn't felt fear at some point.
Kevin: Son, you know you’ll always have my support, whatever happens, but you need to think carefully. That girl could come back, and what will you do? Rejecting a twin flame isn’t easy for anyone. Just look at Liam.
They're right; it wouldn't be fair to him if she returns and my foolish wolf decides to forgive her.
Aiko: You're a fool, my friend. I'll never forgive her. There's someone else who's already mine because I've decided so.
Aisen: Sebastian is a free man. I don't want to keep a bird caged; if we decide to have him, it has to be his choice.
