After Roman left, his father couldn't help but continue to curse at him. Laurel who stood not too far from her godfather and said with tears in her brown eyes. She was shaking as she stood infront of him. With her head lowered she begged.

" What's going on here? And why is there mud on the floor? " , Roman's mother said.

When nobody answered she shouted.

" Hilda! "

" Yes Ma'am. ", Hilda, the maid came running into the living room. With her head lowered she asked. " You asked for me Ma'am. "

" Yes. ", Roman's mother wept her eyes across the people in the room with suspicion. " I want you to you to clean the floor. "

" Is that all Ma'am? ", Hilda still had her head lowered with her head behind her.

Hilda was very respectful and that was one thing the Lady of the house loved about her.

" That's all Hilda. You may to your leave now. ", she smiled as she looked at Hilda.

Hilda nodded and left. Came back and quickly cleaned up the mud stains on the floor.

" Is someone going to tell me what happened? ", she sounded annoyed.

" I'll tell... ", her husband said in an enraged voice. " Your son is the problem. "

" I don't understand. " she said confused.

" You son just walked in her holding that thing. Why does he want to destroy the name of this family? "

She slowly laying down the plate of freshly baked cookies on the table in front of her father-in-law.

" That thing you are talking about is Astrid. She has a name. Roman just cares for her as a friend would. ", she said in a gentle voice.

" Friend! ", he screamed.

" Godfather please don't get angry with aunty o...or Roman. Uncle please don't punished Roman. Punish me instead. I...I wasn't a good friend to him. Don't punish him punished me instead. I'm willing to pay the price for Rome. ", she sobbed and tears flowed down like a stream. She was trembling to the lips.

" Claudia dear, could please leave us alone. I'd love to talk to my son alone. ", Roman's grandfather said politely towards Claudia.

" Yes father. " Claudia turned back to her husband and gave him a long look.

" Come Laurel. Let's go wiped your face. Why are you crying? "

They started leaving, Claudia's hands around Laurel who was still sobbing wildly.

" Don't cry. There is no way I will allow Roman get punished. ", Claudia deliberately raised her voice so that her husband could hear.

Claudia didn't like that her husband and son were always in a disagreement. She tried to support both sides but that was just impossible. She knew what was right and what was wrong.

She knew that her husband wanted the best for this household and she supported him. But she also knew that Roman had more than friendzoned feelings for Astrid. The more she tried to make them understand each other the more she got tired and grained. She was so tired, she began to question in she was human or a vampire.

They took a turn into the hallway walking side by side.

" Go clean your tears I'll go see Rome. Hmm? ", Claudia kissed her on the forehead and sweetly smiled.

Laurel didn't want to Claudia to go see Roman. She wanted to be the first because she loved Roman. As much as she hated Astrid she wanted to be the first one there. To show her love and care towards. But also if she wanted to get into the ...... family she would have to be obedient and kind.

She returned the smile but it was fake.

" Aunt I want to see Roman. He looked very angry. I think it's because Astrid had an attack again. "

As Claudia's back disappeared behind the wall, Laurel rolled her eyes. Her behaviour changed to a sinister one. Her eyes turned red in disgust. She cleaned the fake tears and regained her usual arrogant posture. She was only arrogant in her home and around people below her.

' Foolish woman. I know why you didn't want me to come with you. I'll make you suffer just like you made my mother suffer. All that...after I marry your son. Laurel Donovan. '

" No...Lady Laurel Donovan. ", she flipped her hair then played with a piece of hair around her ear. " I'll let you go first but next time...hehe. ", she laughed.

Laurel turned to find someone looking at her.
