"Christopher, go with the other children now," Eliza instructed firmly.
Understanding the gravity of the situation, Christopher nodded and quickly joined the other children who were shivering with fear. They all stared at the demon, their eyes wide with terror.
"Just stay still and close your eyes. I won't let anything hurt you," Eliza assured them.
The trembling children complied, retreating and shutting their eyes tightly. Eliza then turned to face the demon, taking a bold step forward with her rifle in hand.
"We need to get it out of here to keep the kids safe," Eliza said, and Leon nodded in agreement.
"Alright, let's finish off this cursed scum," Leon declared, and immediately charged toward the demon with his sword drawn.
"You two are just children. How foolish to think you can defeat me, one of the twelve dukes of the demon world," the demon taunted with a mocking chuckle.
"Do you really think you stand a chance when even the Demon King couldn't best us in the past? Do you believe that a mere duke, inferior to him, could do any better?" Leon taunted in return and swung an attack at the demon, which it blocked with its claws, generating a powerful shockwave.
"Hahaha, this will be fun. It's been a while since I've had to use all my power..." The demon's laugh echoed.
Swords materialized in the air and shot towards the demon, but it quickly took a step back, causing the swords to plunge into the ground, creating a crater from the impact.
But Leon didn't stop there. He kept conjuring dozens of swords that flew at the demon, pushing it back gradually until it was forced out of the area.
"Now that it's out of here, there's no need to hold back," Leon said as he vanished, moving at an incredible speed to pursue the demon, leaving Eliza behind with the children.
"Alright, kids, stay here and don't come out for any reason. Trust me and stay put, Chris; it won't take long," Eliza reassured them, gently stroking Christopher's cheek, and he nodded in reply.
Then, Eliza turned and disappeared, moving with a staggering speed to join in the fight.
When she arrived, the tides had changed; it was now Leon who was evading deadly, sharp tentacles that prevented him from using his magical swords.
Eliza quickly took aim with her rifle and shot at the demon, blowing its head off.
However, the demon's head immediately regenerated, taking Eliza by surprise. It then turned its attention to her and sent tentacles her way, but she was quick to respond, destroying them with her rifle as she retreated.
"Hey, Prince, how do we kill this thing?" Eliza inquired while shooting and obliterating the endless stream of tentacles.
"Its heart!" Leon shouted, dodging the tentacles.
"Let's see what I'm truly capable of," Eliza said as her rifle vanished and she summoned two pistols, one in each hand.
With a confident smile, Eliza moved swiftly, vanishing and then reappearing right in front of the demon to deliver a kick to its chest. The demon managed to block with both arms but was still sent flying into the wall.
Eliza pulled the triggers of her pistols, shooting at the demon, but it quickly dodged and retreated.
Leon rejoined the fight, relentlessly attacking the demon with his swords, giving it no respite. Despite their aggressive onslaught, the demon evaded or retreated in time.
"Hahaha, the proud demon duke is no more than a cowardly rat that only knows how to run away," Leon mocked as he continued his relentless assault, but to no avail.
Tired of the demon's evasion, Eliza pressed her guns again and launched into close combat. Seeing this, Leon also joined in, and the two initiated a two-on-one melee attack.
With no escape, the demon was forced to engage in hand-to-hand combat against the two.
Overwhelmed by the pair, the demon retreated as the aura around it thickened and a red pillar of light enveloped it, causing Eliza and Leon to instinctively recoil from the shockwave.
"Kukuku, enough with the games. It's time for you to die," the demon's deep voice resonated as the pillar disappeared, revealing its new, more sinister form with an overwhelmingly powerful aura.
Its body had completely lost any semblance of humanity, transforming into a hulking demon over two meters tall, its skin etched with black veins and twisted horns jutting from its forehead, its hair cascading down to its waist, and its clawed fingers now even more lethal.
"I'm starting to get a little angry..." Eliza commented.
"I'm already there," Leon admitted, his anger palpable at the demon's disdainful underestimation of their abilities.
The demon vanished in an instant and reappeared before Leon, lashing out with its claws. Leon barely blocked the attack with his sword, but the resulting shockwave sent him crashing to the ground.
Eliza was quick to aim her gun at the demon, but it moved swiftly, seizing her hand and suspending her in the air. Nonetheless, with the pistol in her other hand, Eliza shot the demon's arm, destroying it, then dropped to the ground and fired her weapon again, aiming for the demon's chest. The demon swiftly dodged, regenerating its arm instantly.
Unwilling to relent, Eliza advanced on the demon, wielding her weapons once again in a melee battle that was too close to call.
Finding an opening, the demon swung at Eliza, but at that moment, its arm was severed by Leon's sword as he re-entered the fray.
The demon regressed, regenerating its arm while glaring at the two adversaries.
"Are you okay?" Eliza asked, her breath slightly labored.
"Let's finish off that demon now," Leon said, and instantly countless swords appeared in the air, pointed at the demon.
"I'm tired of playing..."
