After that day, the relationship between Eliza and Christopher only got better to the point where Christopher let himself be guided by his feelings and decided to trust the only person who showed him affection by taking care of him and protecting him.

At some point, he swore to never distrust Eliza and to enjoy her company in that lonely house that belonged only to them.

He wished to never leave there because that way Eliza would belong only to him as it should be. He wouldn't let anyone take her away because she swore to be by his side forever, even if that meant clipping her wings and taking care of her like a caged bird that only depends on its owner...

Like the protagonist of the novel, Eliza was not aware of the impact her affection was having on Christopher's life.

But unlike the protagonist, Eliza is also an obsessive psychopath, just like Christopher, so it can be said that they are made for each other. They both have the same dark nature.

The years passed and surprisingly no one bothered them from Marko's side, as if he had completely forgotten about them.

"Yes, Cris, we will be together for life, belonging to one another completely. You will belong to me just as I will belong to you completely..."

"That makes me very happy too!" says Christopher, his cheeks blushing with excitement.

"Mine... you will be completely mine, Eliza, so you can never leave me... and even if you wanted to, I would never let you, you promised me. I will never let you go from my side... never."

Christopher also gets on the bed and Eliza pulls him close to her, cuddling him in her arms.

"Who sent you?" Eliza asked, looking at the terrified face of the guard who had burst into the room.

But Eliza doesn't stop and cuts his throat, causing him to bleed out on the floor.

Two other men who didn't have time to react to help their companion look at the girl in horror, unable to move due to the immense thirst for blood emanating from her.

"Is she even human?!" one of the guards asks himself in terror.

"Bastards... I'm going to kill you..." Eliza says.

"Calm down, Eliza," Christopher interrupts.

He also woke up at the moment the men burst into the room, but he was unable to react like Eliza due to his incapacity, which makes him feel useless in moments like these.

"Chris..." Eliza immediately moves away from the men and approaches Christopher, standing in front of him to protect him.

"Who sent you?" Eliza asks the men menacingly.

"The Grand Duke... his excellency sent us for both of you..." the guard who was on the ground responds, getting up to join his companions.

"Fine, tell the Grand Duke that we'll be there in a moment. Now get out of here if you don't want to die," Eliza says, pointing her knife, and the men don't hesitate and flee in terror.

Eliza sighs and turns towards Christopher, who remains silent with his head bowed.

"What's wrong?" Eliza puts her hand on Christopher's cheek, concerned. "Did you get scared?" she asks gently.

"Like always, I couldn't do anything..."

Christopher clenches his fists with impotence, cursing himself for being a useless blind man.

Eliza notices how Christopher clenches his fists and jaw with frustration, and immediately hugs him.

"You don't have to feel bad... I'm here to protect you. Besides, in a few years, you'll be really strong and capable of defending yourself. No one will be able to stop you..."

She doesn't like seeing Christopher this way. Her heart aches at seeing him so overwhelmed by his disability.

"Everything will be fine. Now we have to prepare to go to that bastard Marko. Do you know why? Today, they're going to force us to get married..."

Christopher decides to relax and separates from her, nodding.

"Great! Then let's go," Eliza says, kissing Christopher's cheek and taking his hand to lead him to the bathroom.
