Chap 6: Bastard Kent

However, instead of joining in her joyous celebration, the heroes met her proclamation with piercing glares and stony silence. Confusion and disappointment etched themselves onto their faces. They were the chosen Heroes, destined to confront and slay the Demon King. Yet here stood Aurianna, the Saintess whose role was merely to support, claiming victory over the very nemesis they had trained a year to defeat. It seemed inconceivable, an affront to their expectations and the foundations of their mission.

As the weight of their disapproving stares settled upon her, Aurianna's smile faded, the realization of their thoughts slowly seeping in. Doubt crept into her mind, casting a shadow over her recent achievement. Had she truly failed to meet their expectations? Did they perceive her as incapable and unworthy of the title she held?

"Who would actually believe a weak Saintess like you could defeat the Demon King? As of now I, Kent the noble hero defeated the Demon King. No one would believe you over me since you're so useless," Kent's outburst reverberated through the room, his words dripping with disdain and disbelief. Aurianna stood there, stunned by the venom in his voice and the intensity of his glare. It was a stark departure from the camaraderie they had shared before. His sudden change in attitude shook her to the core.

Summoning her courage, Aurianna refused to let Kent's words go unchallenged. "I'm not useless," she retorted, her voice laced with determination. "Remember how many times I aided you, healing your wounds when death loomed near? Surely that counts for something."

Kent's grin widened, his response dripping with smugness. "So what? That was your choice," he sneered, the dismissive tone cutting through Aurianna's defenses. She clenched her teeth, struggling to comprehend the betrayal she sensed from her supposed allies. Weren't they supposed to be grateful for her lifesaving interventions? Why did it feel like they wanted to cast her aside?

Before the tension could escalate further, Derek, the voice of reason, intervened. "Guys, I hate to interrupt this argument, but let's not forget that we're still in the heart of the Demon King's castle," he interjected, his gaze shifting between Aurianna and Kent. His words carried a sense of urgency, reminding them of the imminent danger that surrounded them.

Aurianna took a deep breath, her focus shifting from the conflict at hand to the greater peril that awaited them. Despite the hurtful words and the fracture in their unity, they couldn't afford to lose sight of their objective. They were still amidst the enemy's stronghold, and their lives remained in jeopardy.

They stood in close proximity, the tension palpable between them. Aurianna's cheeks flushed with a mix of anger and frustration, her beautiful face betraying the intensity of her emotions. Her fists clenched tightly as she ground her teeth, struggling to maintain composure. On the other hand, Kent appeared nonchalant, sporting a half-smirk that bordered on cruelty. It was evident that he derived pleasure from provoking Aurianna and eliciting a reaction from her.

Derek's words resonated with Cindy, who nervously chimed in, her eyes darting between Aurianna and Kent. "Yes, we must remain cautious. The demons may still seek vengeance," she cautioned, a hint of anxiety lacing her voice.

With their safety in mind, they decided to leave the confines of the castle, unwilling to face any further onslaught from vengeful demons seeking retribution for their fallen leader. Together, Aurianna, Kent, Cindy, and Derek ventured forth, putting distance between themselves and the Demon King's stronghold. Despite the desire to return to Sandeph, the toll of the battle had taken its toll on each of them, leaving them exhausted. They agreed to set up camp for the night, planning to make the journey back to the Kingdom on the following day.

However, the situation was far from straightforward.

After sharing a strained dinner, the party members, still giving Aurianna the cold shoulder, began to disperse. Feeling the weight of their disapproval, Aurianna decided to retire early and retreated into her tent. Alone in the confined space, she couldn't help but replay the events of the day in her mind. The echoes of Kent's derogatory words reverberated within her, mixing with the doubt that had already crept into her heart.

As she settled into her luxurious bed, Aurianna found it difficult to find solace. She was weary not only from the physical exertion but also from the emotional turmoil that had plagued their group. The isolation and the strain of their strained relationships weighed heavily upon her.

Before Aurianna could close her eyes, she heard someone enter her tent, causing her to jolt up in surprise. To her relief, it was Kent who had come inside. Although their unresolved conflict in the castle made her feel uneasy, she was glad it wasn't a dangerous intruder.

Kent approached Aurianna, and although his presence brought a sense of tension, she tried to remain composed. "What brings you here?" she asked, her gaze meeting his.

With a serious expression, Kent took hold of her hands gently. "Aurianna, we've been through so much together since I arrived in this world. I can't help but feel a connection with you," he admitted, his voice filled with sincerity. "I can't deny that I've developed feelings for you."

Aurianna listened attentively, her initial apprehension giving way to curiosity. "But why now? Why bring this up in the midst of everything that's happened?" she inquired, trying to understand his intentions.

Kent took a deep breath, realizing the importance of his words. "I know it may seem sudden, but the battles we've fought side by side, the way you've saved me countless times... It's made me realize that there might be something between us. I can't shake this feeling, and I wanted to express it to you."

"I'm sorry, Kent, but I have to reject your advances," Aurianna stated, her face turning slightly flushed. She understood that Kent's feelings were sincere, but she needed to be honest with him. "I already have a fiancé whom I deeply care about."

Kent's expression tightened, clearly disappointed by her response. He approached Aurianna, gripping her hand forcefully and staring at her intently. "I'm growing impatient," he muttered, his tone filled with frustration.

Kent licked his lips as he stared at Aurianna's beautiful body. "Let me just get to the point, why don't you have sleep with me? I know you're interested. Why else would you keep saving me? You may act a little strange and refuse me, but I know you're acting coy."

Aurianna's face instantly scrunched up in disgust and she pulled her hand away gently, maintaining her composure. "I understand that you may have feelings for me, but I want to make it clear that I'm committed to my fiancé," she said firmly. "The reason I've been there for you and saved you is because we're allies, not because I have romantic interest in you."

Kent's face contorted with a mix of emotions, and he licked his lips nervously. "I can't help but feel that there's something between us. You may deny it, but I sense your attraction," he insisted.

Aurianna's face scrunched up in displeasure. "Kent, I appreciate your feelings, but it's important to respect my decision. I see you as a valued companion and friend, but my heart belongs to someone else," she clarified, her gaze fixed on him, “Why can’t you just accept that!”

"That's because in every story I've read the princess makes advances towards the hero, however you're being strange and refusing me which isn't right! I know you want me, I've had enough of your games." Kent yelled, grabbing Aurianna by the shoulders. "We're meant to be together, that's how it's always been."

"I think you've been reading the wrong stories, Kent," Aurianna retorted, her voice filled with frustration. She pushed his hands off her shoulders, standing her ground. "Just because I'm a princess doesn't mean I have to follow some story you read where the princess falls for the hero. That's not how real life works. And I've already made it crystal clear that I'm not interested in you."

Kent's expression twisted with a mix of anger and disbelief. "You're just playing games with me, Aurianna! I know deep down you want me," he argued, his voice laced with desperation. Kent's face turned red with frustration, and his veins seemed to bulge as he clenched his fists. Aurianna instinctively braced herself, ready to defend if necessary. "Can't you just give me one night? Maybe then you'll realize what you're missing out on," he insisted, his tone dripping with desperation.

Aurianna's eyes narrowed, her patience wearing thin. "Listen carefully, Kent. I have absolutely no interest in being with someone who treats women like disposable objects," she snapped back, her tone cutting through the air her eyes blazed with anger, and she firmly stood her ground. "No way! Do you really think I'm clueless about your reputation? You've been hopping from one noble lady to another, leaving them in the dust once you've had your fill. Why on earth would I want to spend a single night with a complete jerk like you?!" Her voice echoed with indignation, her determination unyielding. "One night won't magically change my mind! Now get the hell out of here!" Aurianna shouted, forcefully trying to push him away. "If word of this gets out, I'll be stripped of my dignity as a noble princess!"

"No way, I refuse to believe that my irresistible good looks haven't won you over. If your so-called fiance truly loved you, where the heck has he been all this time?" Kent taunted, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Aurianna couldn't help but feel a pang of unease. It was true, she hadn't laid eyes on her fiance in years, their interactions limited to mere letters.

“Come on, Aurianna, you're oblivious to your own charm. Your beauty, your scent, your smile drive people insane. That's why it's only fair that you marry me since no one can love you like I do,” Kent declared with a delusional smile plastered across his face.

"Since the day we met, it's been written in the stars. We're meant to be together. It's only right for the most stunning woman on the entire continent to submit to the Hero. No one else can have you, only me. You belong to me!" Kent exclaimed, his voice growing more intense as he locked eyes with Aurianna.

Aurianna's brows furrowed in disbelief. What kind of twisted thinking was this? She held her ground, her gaze unwavering as she responded firmly, "I have a fiance, and no matter how many times I have to repeat it, I will stay loyal to him. Nothing will change that."

Kent's face twisted with frustration, his distorted beliefs clashing with the harsh reality before him. "Psh, since I'm the hero, your father would totally approve of our union," Kent boasted, chuckling self-assuredly. "Why bother with your so-called fiancé? I'm pretty sure I love you more than he ever could. I mean, he's nowhere to be found when you need protection. What kind of fiancé does that? It's only fair that I'm the one who deserves to love and cherish you!"

Kent flashed a wicked grin, and before Aurianna could defend her fiancé or herself, he pounced, muffling her cries with his hand while she fiercely struggled against his overpowering hold.Tears welled up in Aurianna's eyes as Kent ruthlessly tore at her clothing, triggering painful memories of past traumas. She couldn't shake the haunting recollection of that dreadful night with her brother, where her cries for help went unanswered within the very castle walls. The echoes of her suffering resonated in her mind, fueling her resolve to never endure such torment again.

With every ounce of strength she could muster, Aurianna reached for a concealed dagger tucked in her skirt. Gripping it tightly, in a desperate bid for self-preservation, she swiftly slashed at Kent's chest, aiming to free herself from his grasp. Although he managed to evade the worst of the blow, his chest bore a shallow cut as his shirt ripped open slightly, exposing a glimpse of the wound.

Aurianna clutched the familiar dagger tightly, a constant companion she carried to ward off the uneasiness that plagued her when alone with others. It was her safeguard, a tangible reassurance against potential threats. Now, she was grateful for its presence, a means to keep Kent at bay and gather evidence of his wrongdoing. However, her relief was short-lived as she watched in dismay as the wound on Kent's chest began to swiftly heal.

"Damn it! I forgot about his infuriating passive regeneration skill," Aurianna cursed under her breath, frustration etching across her face.

"You should know that attacking a hero is a perilous game, but since you'll soon be my wife, I'll graciously pardon your transgressions," Kent threatened, his initial anger softening into a disturbing tenderness.

Trembling with fear, Aurianna clutched a piece of her clothing, desperately trying to cover herself and shield her vulnerability. The memories of her brother's ordeal still haunted her, a haunting specter that propelled her to protect herself at any cost. She refused to allow history to repeat itself.

Lifting the dagger with trembling hands, Aurianna sensed a strange shift in the air around her. Fatigue weighed heavily upon her, seeping into her bones and clouding her senses. The world blurred before her eyes, and her strength wavered. The dagger slipped from her grasp, clattering to the ground as she collapsed beside it, succumbing to the overwhelming weariness that overtook her.

"It took longer than expected for that potion to take effect," Kent grumbled, a hint of satisfaction in his smile.

Disregarding the dagger by kicking it away, Kent leaned closer to Aurianna, gripping her face gently to meet her dazed gaze.

"I never wanted it to come to this, but you've pushed me to my limits. We could have had some fun together, but it seems it'll be a one-sided affair," Kent said with an unsettling lust in his eyes.

Kent proceeded to lift Aurianna, who was now immobilized, and placed her on a nearby bed. As he leaned in to kiss her, he swiftly removed her remaining clothes, ignoring her silent plea.

‘Why, why, why, why is this happening to me?!!’ A flood of distress filled Aurianna's mind as she wondered why she was subjected to such a situation. She yearned to cry, but the drug in her system prevented the release of tears.

Kent's actions towards Aurianna were deeply violating and made her feel sickened with disgust and anger. She desperately wanted to scream for help, but her voice seemed to betray her, leaving her voiceless and trapped in a terrifying situation. Questions raced through her mind. Why hadn't the other two heroes noticed that she and Kent had been alone in the tent for so long? It seemed suspicious, especially considering that Kent had never slept beside her during their journey. Did they already anticipate his intentions? Were they going to ignore the situation, just like the guards had done that fateful night?

These thoughts only intensified Aurianna's pain, causing tears to well up in her eyes. It was heart-wrenching for her to realize that despite being the Saintess who always aided others and cared for the wounded, she couldn't even garner a shred of respect from the Hero's party. Not as a Saintess, nor as a princess.

Kent's actions were appalling. He had violated her personal boundaries and insulted her, unjustly labeling her as a promiscuous person simply because she had lost her virginity. The hurt and humiliation she felt were almost unbearable.

Aurianna felt a heavy silence suffocating her as she struggled to find her voice. There were so many things she wanted to say, to scream out in anger and frustration. It wasn't her fault that her own brother had violated her, yet her father turned a blind eye and dismissed her pain as mere fabrication. It was like living a nightmare that no one believed.

She contemplated seeking help from her father, but deep down, she knew he would never believe her. He had a history of brushing off her reports, especially when it involved the king's other wives. Whether it was the creepy etiquette teacher or the knights who invaded her privacy at night, her grievances were always dismissed as attention-seeking or hallucinations. Helplessness gripped her, and she resigned herself to waiting for this torment to end.

The following day, to Aurianna's dismay, Kent roamed around with a carefree attitude, as if the events of the previous night had never happened. It sickened her to see him act so casually, as if he hadn't defiled her body and shattered her sense of safety. Hatred surged within her, fueling her desire for his demise. She also cast suspicious glances at the other two heroes, Cindy and Derek, wondering if they were aware of Kent's actions and chose to remain silent.

But Aurianna had reached her breaking point. She had suffered enough and refused to stay silent any longer. With a newfound determination burning within her, she made a solemn vow to seek justice and expose the truth.

However, her heart sank as she considered her options. The only person she could turn to for justice was her father, despite her reservations. He held the power to punish Kent, and she hoped that this time he would listen and take action. Aurianna knew she had to return home safely to confront her father and reveal the horrifying truth, all while ensuring that none of the other wives heard about it. She suspected they would try to hinder her quest for justice, as they held a dislike for her.

The journey back to the kingdom progressed without any further incidents involving Kent. It was as if nothing had happened, but Aurianna remained cautious and kept her guard up. Trust was in short supply when it came to the heroes in her eyes.

One evening, as they made their way through the sprawling Eckval forest, exhaustion settled upon them after a grueling encounter with a group of monsters. Seeking respite, they decided to camp on the outskirts of the forest. Aurianna's emotions were in turmoil. She felt a mixture of anxiety and a glimmer of hope, as thoughts of building a strong case against Kent consumed her mind. This time, she vowed, she would not allow herself to be a victim again.

Aurianna's mind churned with a mix of thoughts and emotions. The anger simmered within her, fueled by the injustice she had endured. She couldn't help but entertain a devious idea that flickered in her mind like a mischievous flame. ‘Summoning heroes is illegal, so Father wouldn't mind killing them, right?’ she pondered, a sly grin tugging at the corners of her lips. Her eyes, though slightly dulled, emitted a cold intensity that mirrored the fire of her determination.

Suddenly, a familiar voice pierced through her thoughts. "Aurianna, may I come in?" It was Cindy, one of the fellow heroes. Despite the tension between them, Aurianna saw no harm in allowing her inside. Perhaps Cindy had something important to discuss or offer an extra layer of protection through her spells. After all, the monsters they had faced earlier had proven to be ferocious adversaries.

"Sure, come on in," Aurianna replied, her gaze fixed on the entrance of the tent. Cindy stepped inside, the air between them tinged with a mix of coldness and timidity. Aurianna's trust in her had diminished, especially after what she suspected Cindy had allowed Kent to do.

With a guarded expression, Aurianna asked bluntly, "What do you want?" Her voice carried a chilling edge, reflecting her skepticism and wariness towards Cindy. The events of the other day had shattered their camaraderie, leaving Aurianna doubtful of Cindy's intentions. She wasn't willing to let her guard down so easily, not anymore.

"It's been quite some time since we've had a delightful girl chat," she remarked with a warm smile.

"That's true, I suppose," Aurianna responded, realizing that she rarely had the opportunity for genuine and friendly conversations. Most of her acquaintances in the capital were superficial, and she had to maintain a facade of pleasantness and smile, even when their behavior was less than desirable. It was the one aspect of nobility that she despised.

"Aurianna, if there's anything troubling you, you can always confide in me," Cindy said, placing her hand over her heart, her eyes filled with determination.

Aurianna couldn't help but laugh at her words, a laugh devoid of anger or authenticity. She couldn't believe the audacity of Cindy, who must have been aware of what had transpired with Kent but chose not to bring it up. Aurianna decided against confronting her, lacking the energy for such a discussion. So, they continued their conversation, with Aurianna maintaining a cheerful facade throughout.
