The next day, Elaina sat quietly at her desk waiting for the teacher to show up. She felt eyes on her. Looking up, she found Bakugou swiveled around in his chair looking at her. His eyes were scrunched together and a frown tugged at the corners of his lips.
Before Elaina could reach out with her power, the door opened and Eraserhead rolled in. She wondered how many orange sleeping bags the guy owned, the thing always seemed to be in good shape even though he rolled around in it everyday.
Mr. Aizawa shed the sleeping bag before standing up. "Since we haven't had a training camp since our newest editions," Everyone looked at her and Hitoshi. "We will be having one starting today. Head to the bus, everyone." With that, he slithered back into his bag then rolled out the door.
"What's a training camp?" Hitoshi asked Sero.
"It's a..." Sero's voice trailed off. His facial expression turned flat and his eyes dead and unseeing. Sero started to answer Hitoshi, momentarily forgetting how his power worked. Elaina shivered at the thought of becoming a puppet. It wasn't a pleasant thought.
"Sorry." Hitoshi released Sero from his control.
Midoriya leaned over so that he was close to Elaina. He spoke directly to her but made sure his voice was loud enough for Hitoshi to hear. "An overnight training camp is when we take a weekend and go somewhere to train. The first, and last, one we had was at the Wild, Wild Pussycats place. They used their quirks to set all kinds of traps for us."
"Damn nerd!" A hand slammed down onto her desk, startling most of the students. Bakugou looked at Hitoshi while managing to avoid looking at Elaina. "It's an exercise where you get to kick some *** and get stronger!"
"Why do the two of you sound excited?" Jiro complained. Elaina reached out with her quirk and found that most of them were dreading this trip. Most of them except for Izuku, Bakugou, Todoroki, Uraraka, Karishma and Iida. The six of them were brimming with excitement. Hitoshi felt nothing, like her, he didn't know what to expect.
Everyone got up and headed back to the dorm to grab their overnight bags. Elaina was the last one to pack her bag, making her the last one on the bus. Izuku was sitting with Iida and Uraka and Tsu were behind them. Yaoyorozu sat with Ashido while Hagokure and Jiro sat together. The back bench was taken up by Bakugou, Kirishma, and Denki. Everyone had someone to sit with, everyone but her.
"You can sit here." Hitoshi offered. He was sitting in the front of the bus. He was the only one without a partner. Poor guy, everyone else was too afraid to sit near him, even Izuku. She nodded her thanks before taking a seat beside him.
Tokoyami, who was sitting in the bench across from her, leaned over. "If this is like last year, it might be a good idea to team up."
"Sure."
.........
The bus pulled over. They were parked on the top of a cliff overlooking a vast stance of woods. Mr. Aizawa led everyone out of the bus. "You guys know the drill." He climbed back onto the bus. The bus, along with their teacher and their belongings, pulled out.
Nineteen students took off. Izuku and Uraraka zoomed off through the air. Todoroki, Bakugou, and Denki made a colorful light show as they took off not far behind Izuku. "Wait for me!" Kirishma screamed as he jumped over the railing.
Yaoyorozu, Jiro, and Hagokure were the next ones to depart. Thanks to Yaoyorozu's quirk, she was able to produce a hang glider for the three of them. "Maybe we can get to the cabin without running into trouble." Yaoyorozu commented before she kicked them off of the ground.
Elaina looked around and found that she, Hitoshi, and Tokoyami were the only ones left. "You want to team up with us?" She asked Hitoshi.
The boy hiked up his scarf. "I prefer to do this alone." With that he walked over to the edge of the cliff then jumped.
Elaina ran over to the railing, she was pretty sure his quirk wouldn't help with stopping his rapid descent. She found Hitoshi swinging along the tree branches using his scarf. "That's cool."
Tokoyami chuckled from behind her. "We better get going if we don't want to lose." He walked over and wrapped her in his arms. "Is this okay?" Elaina nodded. She was thrilled that she would get to experience flying for a second time. "Yaoyorozu was right about flying being quicker. Dark Shadow!"
.... . . ....
Todoroki sped through the woods. So far, he hadn't come across any obstacles. Everything was eerily quiet, except for the occasional sounds of the other students. He could hear Bakugou paving down trees in his wake a few miles from him.
"This is too easy." Denki voiced his apprehension. Somehow, Todoroki had paired with Denki along the way much to both of the boys dismay and unfortunately, Todoroki found himself agreeing with him.
He kept his eyes peeled to the trees, watching for any sudden movement. They had been in the woods for nearly ten minutes and have yet to pass a single mud creature. He had the feeling that this training camp would be much harder than last time and the absence of the muddy obstacles only intensified his feelings.
"Keep your eyes peeled to the woods." Todoroki sounded calm despite what he was feeling.
A flush of silver caught the corner of his eyes. He turned to where he thought he'd seen it but nothing was there. "Heads up." He warned Denki but it was to late.
A wave of ice shot out in front of them, cutting off their path. "Looks like you'll be facing me, little brother." Fuyumi stepped out of the woods.
"Little brother? That's your sister!" Denki pointed a finger from the white-haired girl to Todoroki.
Fuyumi's eyebrows knitted together. "A smart one I see." Her voice may have been monotoned but Todoroki could tell that she was being sarcastic.
He flexed his hands, knowing better then to let his guard down. "What are you doing here?"
She put her hands on her hips and gave him a smile. It wasn't the normal loving, nervous smile that she always showed. This one was more confident, it was one that made him keep his guard up. When she spoke, her voice held slight bewilderment. "Our dad asked us for help. Looks like dad will be a little sad that I'm your opponent today." Her tone of voice suggested that she was feeling the opposite of what her words were saying.
"Endeavour is here!" Denki shrieked the question as he wildly looked around their surroundings. Fuyumi gave a slight nod before she attacked.
.... . . ....
"Quit following me, you damn nerd!"
Izuku shooked his head in exasperation. "How can I be following you when I'm in front of you?" Bakugou snarled and threw some more insults toward him, but Izuku paid him no attention. Up ahead of them was a shimmering flame. "Kecchan." Izuku nodded toward the small flame. Both boys increased their speed, taking interest in what laid ahead.
They found that the small flame was just that. Both boys surrounded the flame with raised fists, waiting for their opponent.
A noise came from Izuku's right. He spun toward the noise just as Bakugou leaped toward it. A wall of flame burst up. Bakugou was able to stop himself before he landed face first into it.
"So, you're my opponents." Endeavour cassualy stepped through the flames with his arms crossed over his large chest. Izuku felt the nervous sweat bead on his forehead while Bakugou smiled. They were going to have to use their quirks to the fullest and then some.
.... . . ....
Yaoyorozu and her group rode through the sky. Her heart skipped a beat. This was too easy.
"We're gonna make it!" Hagokure cheered.
"I've got a bad feeling about this." Jiro voiced Yaoyorozu's fear.
"Don't say that! We don't wa..." Something struck their hang glider, tearing a giant hole into the material. The three of them started falling to the ground.
A tree branch snagged the rope that was tied around them, jerking them to a stop. It was a really good thing that Yaoyorozu decided to make the girls tie a rope around their waist in case something like this happened.
"Ugh! That's gonna leave a bruise." Hagokure moaned. She was hanging not far from Jiro while Yaoyorozu hung from a tree branch above them.
She quickly produced a knife. "I'm gonna cut the rope now." She warned them.
Once they were on the ground, Yaoyorozu looked around their surroundings. "What was that?" Hagokure said from somewhere around her left.
"It looked like a feather." Yaoyorozu had just barely caught a glimpse of the golden-brown feather as it flew away from them. There was only one person she knew that had feathers like that. "We need to get closer together." She didn't need to tell them to be on the lookout, they were already scouting the woods.
A noise rustled from behind them. Yaoyorozu pushed Hagokure and Jiro behind her. She wasn't sure what her quirk could do against Hawks. If only Midoriya was there with them, he would know what to do. No! Don't think like that! Mr. Aizawa showed her that she could handle a ruff situation if she relied on her own instincts.
The rustling grew louder. A purplish-black boot appeared out of the shadows. "Finally." A wicked smile was spread over Midnight's face.
Yaoyorozu quirked an eyebrow, keeping her guard up. "I thought you were Hawks."
Midnight shook her head and played with the whip at her side. "He helped to get you on the ground. No, he has someone he wants to fight." The wicked grin that she wore sent shivers down her spine.
Their opponent was Midnight, not Hawks. That changed things. "Cover your mouth! Don't bre..." She never got to finish.
.... . . ....
Tokoyami lowered them down to the ground. "Why don't we fly all the way there?"
Tokoyami shook his head. "I need to conserve energy for when we face an obstacle." That made since. Why didn't she think of that?
The two of them trecked through the woods in silence. Elaina decided to let her grip loose on her quirk. With tentative questioning, she felt the area around them, wanting to know if they came across someone. Of course, this trick wouldn't work if they were facing mud creatures.
Everything was quiet. It was strange not hearing any of the normal nature sounds. No ruffling leaves, no chirping birds, not even the wind stirred. "It's too quiet."
Tokoyami nodded. "We need to move faster." They continued on with their fast pace for several minutes before the sky grew dark.
"What the?" Covering the sky above them were hundreds of feathers. You've got to be joking! How was she supposed to sense feathers?
"The prodigal student." Hawks floated down from the sky. "I can't wait to see how much you've grown since your time with me."
.... . . ....
Shinso listened as battle raged around him. He needed to walk faster if he wanted to get ahead of the chaos.
"Shinso, just the one I was hoping for." Mr. Aizawa revealed himself from the shadows. His eyes were red, telling him that his quirk was activated.
"This could be interesting."
