The lighthouse

I woke up over  a small bed and beside me there was a plastic white table with some salad and a glass of water.  My legs were still a bit weak but I managed to sit down and eat. The food was amazing and better than the one Touya used to made. Suddenly, I notice there is a note  over my napkin that says the boy has received an emergency call from another lightkeeper and that I was in my home.

I looked through a dusty frame brown window and I noticed that the storm has clear out and  a rainbow shined over the ocean. I know Touya is out there somewhere and is time that I go and find him.

I was about to cross the door when I noticed I was wearing a different clothes and I panicked when I realised that man has changed my clothes but I didnt have time for acting weak so I just stole a  long red winter jacket that covers me til my legs and an oil lamp before leaving the lighthouse.

I got closer to the ocean and a silent scream took form inside my throat as the yatch was nowhere to be seen but then I saw a white thing floating a few meters from the coast and I recognised it as a part of the yatch. Before I could know what I was doing, I jumped from the cliff and dive in with the hop that I could find him even the possibility he was already death. I paddle until my oxygen started to runout and went back to the surface.

The current was moving south when we were on the yatch, there must be were it must have taken him so I decided to swim in that direction. I don’t know how many kilometers I swam but they felt like an eternity and I was starting to lose hope when the sun iluminated a yellow thing in the distance which I recognised as Touya. I screamed his name until I lost my voice  but he was unconscious hanging from a  rowing. I finally reached him and move his shoulders trying to waking up. His eyes lid open slowly and  he softly called my name.

—Thank god, I thought I had lost you for ever.

I couldn’t control my tears.

—You cry for me?

—Of course, Idiot. You got me worried.

—You can’t have those type of feelings, I am your bodyguard. What happens to me is not important

—Client’s should also protect their employers. At least that is my statement. Now lets go to the lighthouse, can you swim?

—Yes.

We were far away of the lighthouse and the closest subway station was faraway and the storm has ruin the paths, no car could pass for at least two days. I ask Touya if we should get back to the lighthouse but he  suggested we should stay far away from this area just in case Cosmo sent more men so we head to our aparment but while we were crossing through the highlands we heard a farmer saying the transport system has been damaged and that the only way was too move by horse. We didn’t have one so Touya said we should camp. We settled behind some highlands  were the grass was pretty and some small rocks act as a coverage. I help him light a small fire. We sat side by side looking the flames change in different types of orange.

—Cream will get crazy when he sees me. By the way, the lightkeeper give you those clothes?

—Yes.

I didn’t wanted to tell Touya how I feel when I find out he undressed me.

It was gonna take a while for Touya Clothes to get dry so I offer him my coat but he denied and suddenly he said I was affecting his job as a bodyguard. He explained me that he has act as a bodyguard for other girls before. The Starlight Corportation also offers protection for wealthy ladies and with all of them  states clear rules :

1. In case their client develop romantic feelings for him, The contract is over.

2.  If the bodyguard fails after 2 attempts to protect their client. He will be replaced.

3. The client is forced to follow his bodyguard orders to unsure her safety.

—Have you ever fall in love?

— I am not gonna talk of my personal life and you shouldn’t either. This is bussiness.

Touya ask me if I could check somehing in his neck. If it was someone else I would paralyzed but he is the only one I can touch so I agree and he unbutton the first buttons of his shirt ( when I found him he was not wearing his jacket). I tried not to throw up, an infected wound was bleeding and I remember that man hurt him.

—You need to see a doctor. The cut looks bad.

—I lost my wallet. I cant pay it.

I still have mine on my packback so I offered him but he denied my offer saying he would not accept it from a client.

—I don’t care your stupid pride. I know there is a town pharmacy near by. I will get you a cream, don’t you dare move.

I Stood up but he grabs my arm saying a lady never goes anywhere without his bodyguard so he was coming with me. We walked across the highlands until we reach a dirty road full of trash and some hens blocked our way for a second. The pharmacy looked very simple. It was a beige  with a wooden billboard that said «Oak Pharmacy» and a paper in the door that said it was open.

As soon as we get close to the pharmaceutic he  point to a photograph of us pasted into a white wall. Under our names said the Coast Guards were looking for us.

—The Starlight Corporation send the request. I will notify you are ok.

—Thanks, can you give us an antibacterial cream?—ask Touya

The man turns around to a shelf and gives us the product and I take the cash touya had given me whe he first gave me this packback. I suppouse to buy my lunch tickets. But as I  should have expected it was wet.

—I am sorry, it got wet during the storm.

—You can take it for free. Is my gift for having survive an untamable storm.

The man tells us there is a road was not affected by the flood and that a bus could take us  to London if we take Keirnain Street that was four blocks from here so we walk quickily as Touya said his cat would be hungry.

It was 9 pm when Touya turned the key of our apartment and  as soon He stepped in Cream jumped over him. Touya pet him and apologized for been late and then went to the kitchen and came back with a plate of food. While Cream was eating I ask Touya to sit down so I can applied the cream. My fingers at first were acting a bit clumsy because it has been long since I have touched a man.  When I tell him that I am done he says wanna check my back because I hitted my self with the yatch. I doubt for some minutes wihout taking my eyes from him .

—You don’t have to be embarrased, I am sure your body is quite pretty.

That was the first time a man tells me this. I nod and took off the long tshirt the lightkeeper had putted on me.

Touya said I just got a scratch and he put me the cream. We looked like a married couple taking care for each other even this was just temporary, as long the corporation finds what they need from me we will need to say goodbye and maybe he will protect other girls  and I don’t want that to happen. I know this is just business for him but for me has starting to turn into something more, I may start falling in love with him and if  the only way to keep him by my side was hiding my feelings for him.

Someone knocks on the door and Touya head towards it. Minutes later Witterby comes in and says that I have disobey him. He added that as my legal guardian I am not allow to have secrets. Then he turns to Touya and asked him if I was in real danger and he lies by saying he kept me save but Cosmo wants me. Witterby face become serious and said that we must pack as tomorrow he will move outside the city until they deal with Cosmo.

—Our duty is to protect Arya. You will remain here until everything is set. Don’t go outside.

Witterby bows and leaves.

—Why did you lied to him?

— Bodyguards are ranked, Witterby ranks how many times times a lady under a bodyguard protection has been in danger or had fail to be saved. I Still want to be by your side Mrs Cleirstein.

—I thought you hated your job.

— No, I am going to sleep. I am a bit tired, you sure can sleep alone for tonight?

—Yes.

Touya says he will go shower and I changed into my pijamas and sat on the bed with Crema over my lap.

—He is kind in his own way, right Cream?

The cat purred and I pet his head making him fall asleep.

I put my head in the pillow and whispered « I  love you».
