I am on the verge of having a cardiac arrest because I had the brilliant idea of coming to the school where the twins study and accompanying Rafa from here to the hospital since I received a message from there, informing me that the results of the exams I took have come out.
Well, now back to my cardiac arrest. As soon as I got out of the car, I saw my little princess coming out of the school holding hands with Igor, one of their friends, and it doesn't stop there. They walked hand in hand to where Rafa was and she just smiled at him.
I watched for a little while, but Ana saw me and opened a huge smile. She shouted the word "daddy" very loudly and it filled me with joy. I didn't know I needed to hear that until I heard it.
"Daddy..." she came running into my arms, and luckily I was close to where they were.
"Hi, my princess."
"I missed you already."
"I missed you too, princess. How was school?"
"Boring. It's not fun without my brother here..."
I picked her up and we walked to where Rafa was with Igor, he was also smiling, I believe he's happy to see my princess smiling so much, but I'm jealous, how does Rafa allow this brat to hold hands with my little princess like that?
"Hi... Rafa, hello, Igor, right?"

We went to where Rafa parked her car and I helped Ana and Igor get in. I went to my car and followed Rafa to the hospital. As soon as we arrived there, we went straight to Pedro's room, he was painting.

I went to him and hugged him carefully, messed up his hair, which made him laugh, I put Ana and Igor on the bed with him. I called Rafa by the corner.
"Tell me."
"The results of the exams I took last week are already out. That's why I came right away..." I scratched my neck "do you want to come with me to see the results?"
"I don't know... I don't want to leave the three of them alone."
"Can't we call a nurse?"
"That could work..."
She leaves the room and I go to the children, they were all painting together now. I stay with them until Rafa returns with a nurse, as soon as she comes back, we go to the room where I receive the results, from there, we go to Natan's office.
"Good afternoon."
"You guys here? Did something happen?" I raise the papers and he nods "alright. Let's see."
He takes the papers and reads each one meticulously, Rafa is practically biting her nails, I reach out and put my hand on her leg, she looks at me with a piercing look, so I decide to remove it.
"I have two news for you..."
"Good or bad?" Rafa asks trembling, and I am almost as nervous as her.
"One good and one bad, which one do you want first?"
"The bad one" we say in unison.
"The bad news is that... at the moment, the schedule of the surgeon responsible for this type of surgery is full... And he is the best in the country. The good news is that your test results are great. Much better than expected for this type of transplant."
"How long will we have to wait?" Rafa asks in a low voice.
"At least two months" Rafa lets out a loud sob and for the first time, I understand her pain.
"Two months?" she asks already crying.
"Unfortunately, yes. This type of surgery is very delicate, and Dr. Calisto is in high demand throughout the country. He is our best doctor, that's why we don't want to entrust this responsibility to anyone else."
"We understand" I hold Rafa's hand once again and this time she doesn't refuse "what can we do until then?"
"Let's go back to the treatment he was receiving, to prevent the disease from worsening. It won't be a solution, but it will buy us some time."
We agree and leave the room, in the hallway, away from people's gazes, Rafa started crying. I approached her and she doesn't say anything, just allows herself to be hugged. I hold her tightly against me, and the more she cries, the more I feel like a tremendous jerk.
A few people start to pass by, but Rafa is still recovering from her crying fit, so I enter an empty room and lean against the door, letting her continue to hold on to me. She doesn't resist my approach or the gentle caresses I'm giving her back.
She simply accepts this affection. Several minutes pass and she remains with her head on my chest, my shirt soaked with her tears, but damn my shirt, I couldn't let my woman cry so much without at least hugging her.
"It hurts so much... So much, Matt..." I feel a mixture of emotions as I hear her call me by that nickname. "I just wish this pain would go away... That our little boy would be alright..."
"I know, Rafa... It hurts me too... I know not as much as it hurts you... But it hurts me too, knowing that I'm compatible and we'll have to wait all this time to see our son well."
"I just wish I could take his pain away... He pretends he's not in pain, Matt... But he feels it... I see in his little eyes that it hurts..."
"He learned to conceal the pain, from his mother... To hide the intensity so as not to worry others... They're so much like you... I feel like a monster for not believing in you, Rafa..."
