Hermione arrived at platform nine and three quarters to find Draco standing in front of the entrance. "Draco!" She walked over to him, giving him a small finger wave.
He turned to her with a small, warm smile. "Hello, Hermione." Hermione felt her heart give a little jump. She glanced down at it perplexed. "Are you alright?"
She looked up into the concerned eyes of her friend. "Yeah, I think I'm just nervous."
Draco laughed and held out his hand which she took with her own. "It's been a while since we've seen our children and now we have to pretend we don't know that they're dating. It's perfectly normal to be nervous. I know I am."
They walked through the portal and onto a crowded platform. "At least you can keep a secret." She lightly jabbed him in the side.
He merely just shook his head at her jab. "I think you're better at it then I am." He released her hand then looked into the crowd.
Hermione spotted the mass of brown curly hair belonging to her daughter. "Rose!" She stood on her tiptoes and waved. Her daughter looked up and with wide eyes she ran into her mother's open arms. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Scorpius run to his father. It surprised Hermione that Draco engulfed his son in his arms.
Scorpius pulled away from his dad and looked over at Hermione and Rose. "Why are you two together?" He asked his father accusingly.
Hermione laughed and answered before Draco could. "We're actually friends. Oh, don't look so surprised. We did work together, you know." She saw Rose glance between them with her brows knitted together.
Scorpius looked to his father. "Is it true?"
Draco laughed and slung an arm over his son's shoulder. "What, have a hard time believing that your old man can make friends?" Scorpius looked down at his shoes, not answering his father. Draco stopped walking and looked down and the sheepish expression that his son was sporting. "Scorpius! Have you no faith?"
Hermione laughed. "Draco, you give him no reason to think otherwise. I am literally your only friend."
"You are not. I still talk to some of the other Slytherins that we went to school with and then there are the Potters who are now on friendly speaking terms." Draco defended himself.
"You didn't call any of them a friend. You just stated that you were on speaking terms."
"Rose!"
Draco chuckled. "Just as sharp as her mum."
"Malfoy!" Harry weaved through the crowd with his family. She noticed that Teddy wasn't with them. "Hermione?"
"Speak of the devil." Draco whispered under his breath.
Hermione leaned over and poked him in the side. "Play nice." She jokingly warned.
Albus was the first to reach them. "Rose! Scorpius! What are two doing together?"
Rose sent her cousin a knowing look before pointing her chin to her mother then Draco. "Apparently, our parents are friends."
Harry, Ginny, and their children that were present arrived to hear Rose. "You two are friends?" Harry glanced between the two of them as if they had grown two heads.
Ginny simply smiled then wrapped Hermione in her arms. "I'm just glad that you're talking to someone, even if it is Draco."
Hermione smiled. "It's an unusual combination, isn't it?"
She felt Ginny shake her head. "I think it's perfect." She pulled away to look into her friend's eyes. "You know, he's changed so much since then."
"You don't have to tell me that." Hermione laughed. She was glad that Draco had changed as much as he had. Astoria must have been a wonderful woman.
Draco and Harry looked over at the two women. "Anything you'd like to share?" Harry asked Ginny.
Ginny waved her head causing red tendrils to fly around. "Just for us girls. Besides, you wouldn't like it." She teased her husband.
Draco scowled at them before turning to Harry. "What did you want?"
"Dad!" Scorpius screeched a warning at his father's rude behavior.
"It's alright," He told Scorpius. "I just wanted to remind you that the annual dinner party is next week." Harry told Draco.
"I'm not going." Harry shook his head and sighed at Draco's reply. He grabbed Ginny's hand before ushering his children off the platform.
"You should go." Hermione told him. The annual dinner party was something that the ministry threw every year at Christmas for their workers. She and Ron attended every year and it was always so much fun. She didn't go to the one last year and since she unfortunately no longer worked for the ministry, she would no longer be invited though she was sure Harry or Ginny would bring her along if she asked.
"Those things are so boring. I'm not going to just go be by myself and to have everyone avoid me." His words made Hermione remember the times that she had seen him there. He was always by himself after Astoria had passed away.
Rose poked both of the adults in the side. "You won't be alone. Mum can go with you."
"Rose!" Hermione was going to have to do something with her child. It was a little troublesome with how much her daughter took after her.
Draco chuckled then rubbed the top of Rose's hair. "Smart just like your mother." He turned his grey eyes onto her. "What do you say? Wanna come to a boring, stuffy party with me?"
Hermione looked away from his eyes. She wasn't sure if she could pull herself to go. She caught her daughter shaking her head at Scorpius. Rose then turned to her with a small smile. "You should go. You two are...friends...now." Hermione didn't miss the pause when Rose had said the word friends. She was going to have to ask her what she thought about her mother being friends with the father of her boyfriend.
"Come on Hermione." Draco pleaded, tugging on one of her sleeves.
"I thought you didn't want to go." She laughed.
"It won't be boring if you go with me." He reasoned.
Hermione shook her head. "Fine. I'll go." Her heart gave another little jump. Why was it doing that?
Draco smiled and Rose squealed. She was starting to think that Rose and Draco were going to cause her a lot of worry, especially if those two kept teaming up.
