CHAPTER 4

Adams arranged for a trusted assistant to guide Anaya and help her.

Smart and conscientious, Anaya quickly had a good awareness of all projects that were assigned to her.

When she was about to get off work, there was a knock on the office door.

Anaya looked up and saw a tall, thin man walking in.

Mark was the grandson of Adams’s younger brother, the cousin of Anaya.

Mark had a hypocritical smile. “My dad said you went back to the company and asked me to greet you. How is it? Are you okay?”

Anaya suddenly returned to the company and even held a responsible position which made Mark very dissatisfied.

He wouldn’t even want to see Anaya if Frank hadn’t forced him to make a greeting.

“With Tim’s help, everything goes smoothly.”

“Really?”

Mark’s eyes were full of contempt.

Can you read the project instructions? Mark thought.

Then he directly picked up a folder on the desktop, without asking Anaya’s permission at all.

The smile on his face quickly disappeared when he saw the title of the file.

“I have been in charge of this project. Why is it turned over to you?”

Anaya said calmly, “I have discussed it with my grandfather. I will follow up on this project from now on. I have already sent someone to arrange relevant procedure. Maybe you haven’t got in the news.”

“How is it possible? We‘re family. I just happened to be interested in this project. I didn’t mean to offend you,” said Anaya with a smile.

Mark scrutinised Anaya with a gloomy face.

He had a feeling that she had found something wrong with this project so she kept onto it.

Mark took deep breath and drove this thought out of his mind.

Anaya is just an ordinary woman who got married after graduation. Her mind is filled with foolish romantic thoughts. How could she have the ability to compete with me? Mark thought to himself.

This thought relieved him a little.

“Mr. Chowne, the president of Sega Corporation, and I are old friends. He signed the contract because I was in charge of it. I am afraid he will not agree to change to another person.”

“Even though he doesn’t agree, you won’t be able to take this project either. Business does not depend on one person!”

“Anyway, you don‘t need to worry about it. I‘ll take care of it,” Anaya said calmly.

Mark snorted.

Anaya knew nothing. Devin and he had made the deal. He would only cooperate with him.

Anaya would get nothing if she went to talk to Devin.

She couldn’t take his things away!

Anaya spent a day investigating Devin and got a lot of good things.

She made an appointment with Devin to meet at night. She was in a good mood until she saw Joshua’s stony face at the entrance of the hotel.

“Mr. Maltz, why are you here? Shouldn’t you be chatting with your lover this time?”

In the past few years, Joshua would call Lexie, who was abroad, almost every night to have a talk.

Joshua would deliberately avoid Anaya every time. She had been thinking he was dealing with his work until one day that Lexie said proudly that Joshua would talk with her on the phone every night.

So, for three years of their marriage, Joshua had been in a relationship with Lexie.

Anaya felt she was so stupid that she fell in love with this kind of scum.

“I came here for work,” Joshua replied and frowned. “You have checked my cell phone?”

Anaya mocked, “Did I need to? Do you think I am deaf or blind that I didn’t notice you talked with your lover every night?”

Joshua said unpleasantly, “Have I been too nice to you? How dare you talk to me like this?”

Anaya revealed a scornful smile and said, “Mr. Maltz, you are a spoiled child. Do you think that everyone should coax you and do what you ask? I’m no longer your wife. Stop getting all authoritative on me.”

Anaya’s last sentence successfully pissed Joshua off. He grabbed her hand, his dark eyes glared with anger and he said word by word, “WE HAVEN’T DIVORCED YET!”

“Soon. We will tomorrow. Please be punctual and don’t stand me up like last time.” Anaya shook off his hand and added, “Mr. Maltz, please keep away from me when you come across me next time. I’m afraid I can’t find a new boyfriend.”

The veins on Joshua’s forehead bulged. He said furiously, “Did you start to look for a new boyfriend?”

Anaya raised an eyebrow and retorted, “Can’t I? I’m only twenty–three, the best age to enjoy my life.”

“Anaya…” Tim walked over after parking the car.

However, he felt a hostile gaze fall on him once he called Anaya.

Tim met Joshua’s cold eyes. It seemed as if Joshua was going to eat him up the next moment.

Tim’s heart sank.

Damn it! Tim cursed in his heart.

Anaya turned to Tim and asked, “Are you done with the car?”

Tim looked at Joshua warily, afraid that Joshua would rush over the next seconds and twist his head off. He nodded slightly.

“Let’s get in.”

Anaya was about to get inside but was stopped by Joshua who stepped in front of her.

“Can’t be your next target? Your taste for men is so poor now that you picked such a coward.”
