Chapter 1

In Southwest China, north of the great mountains, lay a small, secluded village deep in the forest. It was nestled between two mountains and situated at the bottom of a large beautiful valley.

A little, isolated settlement was located deep within the forest in southwest China, north of the large mountains. It was located at the bottom of a sizable, gorgeous valley, sandwiched between two mountains. In the meantime, the countryside behind the settlement was made up of rolling hills and high mountains covered in ever-expanding cedar trees.

There was a river at the entrance to the settlement, and when the snow-capped mountains began to warm up, it brought in melted snow in addition to gushing waters, which flowed before the village. A sizable green field could be seen off in the distance. more fields of grass connected to the big field and spread out even more.

The land behind the village consisted of sloping hills and steep mountains filled with ever-growing cedar trees. There was a river at the village’s entrance, and whenever the snow-capped mountains started to warm up, it brought in melted snow aside from gushing waters, which ran down the mountain and flowed before the village.

A little distance away was a large green field. Fields of grass extended out even further, connecting to the large field.

August was almost through, and fall was beginning to loom larger and larger. The mountains covered in snow were gradually becoming whiter while the snow cover was also getting thicker. The lush fields were gradually losing their green color and turning yellow, adding to the valley's already stunning attractiveness.

Evenings were consistently windy. Yellow grasses swirled along the soft breeze of the approaching squall.

The area where lush fields and dense forest converged was to the northwest of the settlement. There was a person present. The figure walked about and dropped onto the earth below while wearing clothing that matched the color of the grass. The person attempted to stand up, but after making numerous unsuccessful attempts, he once more fell to the ground. He remained motionless within the grassy area this time.

Dark clouds came in from a distance as a fierce breeze sent its gust, causing the grass to wave wildly. The heavy clouds swept into the valley, making the already overcast day even darker than before. They would be aware of the shifting weather if they were experienced.

A young girl was there, wearing a sunhat and carrying a bamboo basket on her back. As she made her way towards the village, she emerged from the dense cedar forest on the slopes.

She appeared to be cheerful and was humming a tune as she went.

“Shoot! Rain is on the way!

Only then did she make haste to reach the settlement, after looking up at the sky and observing the ominous rolling clouds.

She slowed down after a short distance. She took a closer look at a neighboring grassy area.

In order to have a better look, she slightly stopped as she approached. She soon came across a wounded individual.

She moved quickly closer and put her hands on the person's neck.

She breathed a sigh of relief as she felt a pulse, confirming that the person was still alive.

She quickly flipped the unconscious individual over and was startled to see her face as she got a better look.

He was young and attractive. Even though it was short, his hair covered half of his face. He had pale, pasty skin, which she observed after brushing his hair aside. His eyebrow twitched and furrowed, and his eyelids shook, but he didn't open them.

The young woman was quick to locate the man's injuries.

She pulled out a tiny bottle, popped the top off, and poured its contents into whatever open wounds she could find. One of the wounds started to stop bleeding as she applied the flower powder to it.

"Who's this guy? How on earth did he come out here with such severe wounds?", she said to herself.

She kept making irrational assumptions and eventually found the man's possessions. She was uneasy after noticing an emblem on his uniform. Although her heart slightly fell, she persisted in picking up the unfortunate man. Carrying him back to her house for additional medical attention was her plan.

Minute by minute, the sky grew darker. While ferocious squalls persisted, dark clouds moved in menacingly. Beads of chilly water started to fall from the sky shortly after that. Those droplets of water barely remained for a brief while before becoming a downpour. It encircled the entire area.

The young lady took off as quickly as she could. She traveled a short distance past the village's edge. She kept running till she arrived at a modest house on some level fields at the base of the hill.

By that time, she was thoroughly drenched. The man lying on her back was still unresponsive. He had lost a lot of blood, and the rain had just made matters worse. That made his already pale complexion even paler, almost as if there was no blood flow.

She didn't have time to take care of herself at that time. She immediately got dressed in a fresh pair of clothes. She grabbed a medication case from the cabinet and hurried back to the man.

Outside, it was pouring cats and dogs.

There were no signs of blood at the scene where the wife discovered the man because of the intense downpour.
