Orientation Day 2.
The next morning I am awoken by birds chirping and pecking at my window. Uhhh..(still half asleep I rub my eyes)…what time is it?!
With half of my hair still covering my face I slowly roll out of bed and flip my hair out of my face. I then grab my phone. Turning it on stung my eyes a little. Ahhh….it’s already seven. I also notice a good morning text my mom left me. I quickly respond before putting my silky blue bathrobe and flip flops on.
As I’m walking to the bathroom, I scroll around on my phone to turn on a mental health podcast. I place my phone on the bathroom table before unchanging and jumping straight into the shower.
Refreshing. I thought to myself. This is exactly what I needed to wake me up. I take my time in the shower allowing my tight muscles to loosen up with the warm water trickling from the top of my head, to chest, and eventually down to my feet. After twenty or so minutes, I get out, wrap a towel around my hair and grab my bathrobe and flip flops again. I slowly walk over to the sink and use a small cloth to wipe the fog from the mirror.
I decided that I was going to wear a lavender long sleeve crop top with a pair of soft and stretchy lavender sweats to go along with the fit of the day. Nothing to fancy I thought. Comfort always beats discomfort.
I throw my hair up in a tight bun and put on some sterling silver rimmed purple studs. Then I quickly do a light coat of makeup and apply perfume. Last but not least I grab a basic pair of solid black sneakers before heading out the door.
What should I do today? (I ask myself) As I’m walking around campus I notice a small cafe. I walk in and notice that the place is nearly empty.
“Good morning. What can I get you?” (The shop owner says)
“ Good morning to you as well. Can I have a small hot chocolate. Please .” ( I crack a little smile to the shop owner)
“Yes of course, do you want anything else with that?” (The shop owner replies)
“Hmmm, let’s see…Okay yea. I will also take an egg-bagel sandwich with bacon. That will be all.” ( I said)
“ Your order will be ready in five minutes.” The shop owner gestures her hand to the left. “You can pick up your order over there….ohh I almost forgot to ask. What is your name? That way I can let you know when your food is ready?”
“ My name is Lucy. Thank you.” Before leaving I glance down at the name tag of the shop owner. Hmmm…Bella I say to myself.
After five minutes I received my order. Then left the shop.
I decided that I was going to eat by the water. I found a bench overlooking the water. I sat down and looking around.
To my disbelief, I noticed a guy on a bench about a hundred feet away. “I guess I’m not the only one who wanted to eat by the water. ( I say in my head.”
My eyes gaze on him a little longer. “Or maybe not (thinking).” This guy didn’t have any food or anything rather looked like he was in a different de mention….lost in thought. He had earbuds in his ears and was wearing a blank expression.
I’d better leave him alone I thought. I shifted my head back to face the water where the sun was reflecting it’s rays upon the water which gave off this almost liquid golden appearance.
