The Kidnapping

The world had fallen apart. It was now overrun by zombies - walking corpses with an insatiable hunger for flesh. The few survivors that remained were constantly on the move, seeking refuge from the undead hordes. Among them was a girl, whose name was Sarah. She was young, but tough, and had managed to survive on her own for months.

Sarah had just stumbled upon a boy, who was walking alone on the outskirts of a small town. He was young, too - probably not much older than Sarah. He was tall and lean, with dark hair and a rugged look about him. He carried a backpack, which Sarah assumed was filled with supplies.

Sarah knew that she couldn't survive on her own forever. She needed someone to watch her back, someone to help her scavenge for food and water. The boy seemed like a good candidate. But Sarah had learned to be wary of strangers. She didn't trust anyone easily, especially not in a world filled with zombies.

So Sarah did something that she never thought she would do. She kidnapped the boy.

It was easy enough. She crept up behind him and knocked him out with a rock. Then she dragged him to an abandoned house on the outskirts of the town and tied him up. She knew it was wrong to do, but survival was her top priority.

The boy woke up a few hours later, disoriented and scared. Sarah watched him from the shadows, waiting for him to calm down. He struggled against his bonds, but they held tight. Sarah knew she had to explain herself before he started screaming for help.

"I'm sorry I had to do this," she said, stepping out of the darkness. "But I needed someone to help me survive. And you seem like you can handle yourself."

The boy looked at her, his eyes full of fear and confusion. "Who are you?" he asked.

"My name is Sarah," she replied. "And we're going to be stuck together for a while. You're going to help me scavenge for food and water. And in return, I'll keep you alive."

The boy didn't say anything for a long time. He just looked at her, as if trying to figure out if she was serious. Finally, he spoke.

"I don't even know your last name," he said.

Sarah shrugged. "It doesn't matter. Names aren't important anymore. Survival is."

The boy looked away, his eyes full of resignation. "I guess you're right," he said.

Sarah felt a twinge of guilt in her chest. She didn't like the idea of taking someone against their will. But she knew that she had to do what was necessary to stay alive. In this new world, there was no room for kindness or compassion. It was kill or be killed.

She untied the boy and led him outside. The town was eerily quiet, as if the zombies had already claimed it. Sarah looked around, scanning the buildings for any signs of movement.

"We need to find supplies," she said. "Food, water, medicine. Anything that can help us survive."

The boy nodded, still looking shell-shocked. Sarah wondered if he would be able to handle the harsh reality of their new world. But she didn't have a choice. He was all she had, and she had to make it work.

Together, they set out into the deserted town, their footsteps echoing in the silent streets. Sarah kept a tight grip on her weapon - a metal pipe that she had scavenged from a construction site. She knew that they were never truly safe, even in a town that seemed abandoned.

As they walked, Sarah noticed that the boy kept glancing at her. She could feel his eye on her back.

Sarah tried to ignore the boy's gaze, focusing on their search for supplies. She led him to a small grocery store, hoping to find some canned food or bottled water.

They entered the store cautiously, scanning the shelves for any signs of danger. The store was eerily quiet, and the air was thick with the musty smell of rotting food.

They split up to cover more ground, each searching a different aisle. Sarah found some canned vegetables and fruit, as well as a few bottles of water. She grabbed as much as she could carry and made her way to the front of the store.

The boy was already there, holding a backpack that he had found. He had filled it with some canned meat and snacks, as well as a first-aid kit.

"Good job," Sarah said, nodding at the backpack. "Let's get out of here."

They left the store and made their way back to the abandoned house where Sarah had been staying. Sarah felt a sense of relief wash over her as they entered the house. She had been alone for so long, it was comforting to have someone else around.

They sat on the floor, eating their meager meal in silence. Sarah felt awkward, not knowing what to say to the boy. She had kidnapped him, after all. It wasn't exactly a normal way to start a friendship.

After they finished eating, Sarah lay down on the floor and closed her eyes, exhausted from the day's activities. The boy sat beside her, looking uneasy.

"I don't know what's going to happen to us," he said, breaking the silence.

Sarah opened her eyes and looked at him. "We'll survive," she said, trying to sound confident. "We'll stick together and find a safe place to stay."

The boy nodded, but Sarah could see the fear in his eyes. She wondered if he regretted following her. She knew that she had been selfish in taking him against his will. But she had no choice. The world was a dangerous place, and she needed all the help she could get.

They both fell asleep on the floor, exhausted from the day's events. Sarah dreamed of a world where zombies didn't exist, where she could live a normal life. But she knew that it was just a dream. In this new world, survival was the only thing that mattered.
