Chapter 3 : Part of nobility

"Saintess!!!!"

The cheers were loud, I can't bear it. I barely even smiled at them as I walked out of the crowd. Like I'm a celebrity right now.

I can't help but remember that night.

I was running towards an old store near the forest. it's where you buy titles to become a noble. I happened to find out about it because of a slave who was caught after attempting such a thing.

Foolishly, I believed her.

I slowly arrived as the rain started to pour.

I took shelter under the tree. it was a relief that the trees could shelter me from the rain while walking towards the store.

I took off my slave outfit and wore a simple coat I stole from the mansion. I wanted to hide my identity so that no one would be able to figure out I am a slave of the past.

I knocked on the door and was surprised as it opened automatically. there was no one even opening it.

A looking-lazy guy looked at me as if I disturbed his rest. Surely, it took a while for a new customer.

"Hello, May I buy a cup of coffee? Make it large please." I said.

He immediately understood what I said and smiled.

"Please come in, customer." He said and invited me in. Sure, i do look suspicious. It was written all over his face. But it's his job after all.

I immediately handed the pouch which I thought would only suffice for buying a title such as a baron.

"THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY!" he couldn't even contain his voice. He was trembling in surprise.

Perhaps... It wasn't enough?

He looked at me as if asking me if I was sure of giving it to him.

Confused, I just asked..

"Is it not enough?" I asked him.

He looked at me and sighed.

"No, miss... It... you could use it to become a Duchess..." He said in a shaky voice. Is it risky?

"Like a foreign Duchess?" I asked and sat down, inviting myself.

"Yes...I can give you a card to fool even the imperial knights and enter the empire. You can hide your identity as a foreign Duchess who ran away from your empire. Surely, the emperor and empress would welcome you as long as you introduce yourself as the runaway Duchess of "Ismen Empire" " He said.

I looked at him with a surprise look.

"Why would they be?"

"The ismen's emperor lost his niece after the war. You can pretend as her, miss." He said.

"Because there was no duke or Duchess to manage the dukedom, the title was abolished and you can claim as the future Duchess which the emperor would of course welcome and treat as the ultimate card against the ismen empire." He added.

It was sure a strange offer but I just nodded thinking what life would be ahead of me.

I turned back and was surprised as he handed something to me.

"What is this...?"

"Miss, please dye your hair with this. It's a permanent dye and no other magic could even reveal your true hair color. I'm betting this on you... so please, save us." He said in a whisper.

Save... what? Save who?

After that, the store suddenly vanished and smoke were the only thing I saw on the location. It must be his doing.

I opened the potion, not caring about risking my life and drank it.

My hair color turned silver/white and I felt something... something running inside my stomach? I couldn't control it and I threw up.

What did he make me drink?

Suddenly, my wounds started to heal.

Is this... divine power?

There was a golden light that came out of me as well as a little thing... with horns?

"My master, Can you give me a name?" It said with it's cute voice.

"Wh... what are you?" I asked and slowly walked backwards.

"I'm your pet guide, master." It answered.

I shook my head and erased the thing that was blocking my throat and looked down as I did a frown.

"Then... Li. just Li." I said as I named him without effort. Suddenly, a black smoke came out from him and he turned red.

"Thank you, master." It said.

I only frowned and suddenly fell into deep sleep.

I didn't even know what happened to me. I just knew that when I wake up I suddenly became a Duchess... and hailed as* *saintess. Did that thing, no, I mean, Li possess my body in order to do all this?

Unbelievable*.

I sat on the carriage with my legs crossed. It's been a month.

I sighed and looked outside.

I should start to plan how to carry out my exact bloody revenge.

Because all I know right now... is I am not in Danger.

I am the danger.
